Although I am an avid listener of The Bulwark, I'm disappointed to continually hear phrases like "Trump believes...(insert any political philosophy)". No, he doesn't "believe" in anything. He only says what he thinks will rile up his base and repeats anything that gets a reaction. In order to believe in something, one has to care about something other than themselves. The more his supporters hear him say it, the more it makes sense to them as "truth". In my opinion, the media is to blame for the situation we are in. Trump never deserved all of the free air time he received in 2015-16. The media is just as guilty as he is for placing the desire for clicks and profits over the health of our democracy.
I watched a travel channel, they visited India and a group of men were like “we love Trump bring him back!” The reason why? They liked he was strong and ENTERTAINING! SMH. Glad to know he is international political entertainment. We are the laughing stock of the world.
As a European, I totally agree with this. In fact we were just discussing this last night. His re-election would be disastrous for everyone if he decides to take the US out of NATO. He would totally be playing into his buddy Putin's hands.
@CS8-q2o I hope so. I have heard a few former Democrats say they want to vote for Trump this time, but far less than Republicans wanting to vote Democrats.
@@garybryson1900Sure. Go ahead and vote for a guy who is an antivaxxer, for instance, who was certainly vaccinated against polio. Or the guy stuck in about 1975 with his out-of-control Afro. Or how about the woman who officiated at Elizabeth Taylor last wedding. Sure any of those unserious people. 😂
Some of the psychological impact has already happened. We, your friends and allies, know that you elected Trump once, we know that you might do it again. Perhaps next year, perhaps later. We therefore know that we can't trust in the USA standing by its word. We know that we can't depend on you. We need a plan B. I don't dispute that a second Trump term would be more ruinous than the first one. But some of the damage discussed here has already happened.
I fully agree. I've been saying the same thing. The short sigh of relief when Biden won was swiftly followed by "but for how long before the next trumpian fool is elected".
There is no counter to trumps daily rantings, Joe is not up for this fight, but I'll vote for the nominee regardless! I'm looking for someone to surface, better do it soon💥
Yes, if the Dems are going to run someone else they had better do it quick--Pete Buttigieg seems like the best option--it would be hilarious to watch them debate but Pete had better be ready to go low.
I hate to admit it because I don't wish harm on anyone but I've been thinking the same thing. After all, we're not built to last forever, everyone has to go at some point.
They also want a dictatorship despite fighting against a dictator in WWII. They throw terms like dictatorship and tyranny around but they don't really know what those terms mean.
The difference between 'neoliberalism' and 'neoconservatism' is this: one has to do with a capitalism, the other has to do with having a strong military. Combined, this is the American ethos, who you are. Yet these two ideas are separate. My hope is that the American heart changes, grows bigger to include the world, otherwise we are all doomed.

The media is always slow to respond to threats like this.

@@garybryson1900 because Biden is not an aspiring dictator, and his party an authoritarian personality cult.

Dear Applebaum, there is no 'get lucky' to lean on.
As soon as they get or given a chance, all dictators will act.

Neoconservatism is a word in search of a purpose. No one out there can be described by that label.

If President Trump would do exactly the opposite of what these experts propose, the world would be a safer more stable place.
