Lots of good finds in this one. I do allow local pickup on eBay and when they pick the item up now, either they scan a QR code from your phone or you scan one from their phone and it says that the buyer received the item/items so you don't have to go through all of the marked as shipped and all that stuff anymore. it's actually pretty simple now.
Thanks for watching!! And that just shows how long of a break from reselling I took haha! It’s definitely good to hear eBay came up with a good solution to simplify local pick up. Might be worth doing if I ever sell bulky/oversized items in the future.
Nice day for you out Thrifting, I'm new to selling on eBay, and for me learning good brands to look for helps me out when I'm out thrifting. Thanks for the informational video. Have a great day eBaying. 👍🏼Also subscribed to your channel
Local pick up on eBay is now a better process, it generates a code when you are ready to meet for the buyer, the seller scans the code and it marks it as delivered. I have only done it a few times, but if the occasion recurs when it would be worth it (something heavy/ expensive to ship) the improvement makes it easy and also worry free.
Ohhh that’s good to know. I had no idea they made those updates to local pick up on eBay. Might be worth doing for high dollar items that are oversized/bulky. Thanks for that info!
So glad that you're back! My main source of reselling income comes from jewelry. However, I have never been knowledgeable when it comes to clothing. I knew of some of the brands you mentioned, but not on branded jeans like MOTHER. I don't always find enough jewelry to make the income that I'd like, so being able to supplement with clothing pickups might be a good idea. Keep the videos coming!
Appreciate that. Thanks for watching! Yesss there are so many great brands out there. I've been watching a lot of other resellers on UA-cam again recently and feel like I'm learning something new all the time!
Wow that’s a great haul and lovely sales too Josh ! . 😊 . Alo and Athleta are some decent yoga and fitness brands not sure how popular over in US they are than in UK . Lovely to see you back making vids .
Thanks!! I've never found Alo at the thrift, but I've heard that's a pretty popular brand. Athleta used to do really well for me. I try to be selective with Athleta, but definitely come across a few pieces that sell every now and then.
You did the right thing as I do not think Ebay allows local pick up. Great video! It helps to hear what you go through since it is similar to issues probably many of us have experienced.
He seems to go to stores with the better brands. I go to thrifts in Chicago but only see the MALL brands, nothing luxury or near luxury. And I too see the store flooded with resellers and overflowing carts.
if its more than certain amount of $ i'm ok with doing shipping as long as buyer comes to my place of choice at my desired time. i actually rather hand deliver some items than ship them. you can always ask him to accept it and leave feedback upon pick up and take photo or QR. he saves on shipping you save on fees as you have to pay comission on shipping too... i've done few successful pick ups and drop offs on ebay :) but if youre busy its your time and schedule, you as a seller put the rules
Love your videos. Thanks for sharing with us. Regarding your guy who didn't want to pay for shipping, he should have searched for listings with free shipping and not try to switch it up after he made the purchase, especially since it was an offer that you accepted. Sounds like he would have been a problem after the fact, complaining about a snag or something in the fabric.
Mother & Mother Superior are both still unicorns to me, but amazing you were able to have such an awesome haul! Also I would have just cancelled the order as well. I don't do pickups period.
That's good to hear! I'm glad eBay came up with a solution like that for local pick up. Might be worth doing if I ever want to sell a bulkier item in the future. Appreciate the info on that!
I did that accidentally at a Saan Store in Saskatchewan. I originally bought a pant suit, at one store. Then a couple of years later, saw the same checkered shorts,in their clearance bin for $5.00. So the outfit was a mix and match. Sharen
I've had a local buyer want to pick up. I had to cancel order and changed listing to local to protect myself. You then scan their arcade that ebay gives them to shoe it was received. The kicker to all this is that I turn bought a bulk lot of high sell through polos from him after he knew what we did.
I'm really glad to hear that eBay has the code to scan now because it was a pain a few years ago lol. Sounds like it was 100% worth it for you - love to hear that it turned into a sweet deal on that bulk lot of polos!
@Josh-Kim I meant barcode but I'm sure you figured out my typo. It's still a pain trying to coordinate a time with someone especially if doing this in addition to our FT job. This one was easy. I've only done this twice in 3 years
Clothing sucks in my area because that’s the only thing the other local resellers look at, so it’s constantly picked over. I haven’t found a home run item in clothing in months.
For suree. Definitely depends on your area. It's a lot better where I am now for clothing compared to where I used to live in Georgia when I first started reselling.
It’s not all bad. I find a ton of designer ties. I also find a ton of rare media. I have a few thousand out of print dvds and Blu ray that I still haven’t listed that I’ve found just in the past month. I got a bulk deal on watches at a mom and pop thrift store.
Hi Josh Another great video. I need to learn men’s brands😊 I started reselling after a 6 year absence. I thought about best offer but have not done it yet. Should I just shoot for a higher listing price hoping to get a lower offer(and have a better chance of selling)? I have several items that have “watchers” on them. I appreciate your advice
We’ll be building back up together after a break from reselling! I’ve always been a fan of having best offer turned on. I feel like a good chunk of my sales come from receiving/sending offers. I think the biggest mental hurdle I had to get through was not getting too attached to my inventory. Even if I think it could sell for a certain amount, I’ve learned that turning over inventory and reinvesting it into more inventory makes more money in the long run. I still try to price my items competitively, and accept reasonable offers from there. Hopefully that answers what you were asking!
My wife and I try to make trips up there as well, we're now in central jersey. When we do go, we're like maybe we'll say hi to Josh if we see him lol. I like RWB, especially fun when I see the short dude chasing the racks that are coming out... he's persistent 😅
Another Great Video! First the second Unique I've never been where is that one I may have to venture out to this one 😅 next you did the right thing I WOULD'VE NOT DONE A MEET UP! The never of him...smdh you did right and you where nice because my response would've been way different 😂 Great Sells for you
Thanks Angel! That second store I went to is in Paterson. The parking situation isn’t the best, but it's a great thrift to check out. They are always putting new inventory out throughout the day, and the employees there are super nice. More chances for us to run into each other haha
Great video. Awesome finds! I have always liked watching your channel for all the good info on clothing. I just know the basics and am trying to learn more! It's good to see you making videos again. I have been subscribed for a long time! Figured you would be back 😊
If it was for a higher dollar order I might have considered switching it to local pick up or just listed them on Facebook, but for a lower dollar order I would have done what you did lol
That makes sense! I’d probably consider it for a higher dollar item. I think I was annoyed since I already gave him a discount on the items and offered a partial refund for shipping 😂 . Appreciate you watching!!
Usually they don’t, but once in a while it leaves a small pin-sized hole 😭. Makes me super sad! Definitely not a fan of that particular thrift store stapling on the price tags and using those security tags. If there’s any noticeable damage, I make sure to take a close-up picture and disclose that in the listing.
New subscriber very much enjoy your content I’m a full time reseller from NYC I’m totally with you I would no meet up with anyone especially after they got a good deal in the first place
Ohh that’s good to know. Honestly not too familiar with Poshmark returns, since I don’t get them too often 😅 I was okay with this one though. The buyer sent a really nice message to let me know and asked if it’s okay for her to open a case. I told her it wasn’t a problem!
@@Josh-Kim Yep! As long as you disclose measurements or size, Poshmark will side with you on cases of fit. Buyers are generally encouraged to reposh the item themselves.
First time watching your video, good eye and great video. I watch a good amount of thrift videos but I'm wondering the differences between ebay, mercurial and poshmark. Is it different demographics or what? I like to support USA businesses so I am trying to buy from US buyers as opposed to big box retailers.

Yup! It's all listed simultaneously. I use Vendoo to crosslist and delist when things sell. I have a referral link in my video description to get 25% off your first month if you ever decide to try out Vendoo.
I would be glad the buyer canceled because it's really a hassle meeting up and shipping is not really that much if its in the same state. The buyer is already getting a good deal and you even said you will refund part of the shipping cost. I would also hold off for top dollar.
I wish I knew 😭😭 I think the pre-owned ones are a comfort thing by the previous owner. But I definitely cry a little on the inside when I see a NWT piece with the tags cut up.

Glad I’m not alone on how to handle that situation! Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching.
You did the right thing. Negotiating after a sale is already made is against ebays rule and frankly buyers who do this are almost always a pain.
Yeah. Sometimes you just have a bad feeling. Definitely a pain!
