Keen to see this after recently failing a very similar ruleset and start recently. Outside of skillcapes in OSRS, RS3 has a lot more high levelled stuff sprinkled into the starter areas, so there are long grinds and death chunks everywhere. Loving the effort put into editing though, keep it up!
I like it when a chunkman follows the Limpwurt travel rules of 'if you can walk there, you can use teleports for rolling'. It makes the whole viewing experience a lot more cohesive and it feels weird to teleport back and forth between chunks.
One thing to consider with allowing boats and stuff for chunk unlocks is that it means youre 4-5 chunks away from being a Daemonheim locked ironman forever.
Don't know if anyone has said this yet, but the weird level differences for wood types is because an update last year attempted to bring woodcutting level requirements and experience rates more up to date with the modern game, but they didn't extend this update into any other part of the game besides woodcutting (and construction, partially). So all of the log-related level requirements for firemaking and fletching (and other things) are still their old values. There's a woodcutting & fletching update coming later this year, so maybe this disparity will get resolved then, but it's been implied that it will be focused on increasing the level cap to 110, so maybe not.
55 Slayer - Ghosts can't be fround in Lumbridge IIRC. Safe Cracking 62 thieving requires you to go to Ardougne. It also requires you to cross the world for the other miniquests. Al Kharid Guards, farmers, Master Farmer, HAM members, and Varrock Guards. The Quest also requires you to go to Lumbridge Swamp for Urhney.
Even though i played rs3, there was so many things that i never found out what they were for. Itd be nice to explain what some unique rs3 content is, like the incense sticks for example.
Nice, u got a new sub! So fun to see a rs3 chunker. Would be kinda nice if u like showed what task u had left in the end of an episode, or the begining of the next i guess :P
Yeah, I will go over my remaining tasks at the start of the next episode. I'm still not 100% sure how to handle it because there's 50+ lot of tasks and most of them are little diary achievements for speaking to the Duke, or equipping a Blue Wizard hat, and stuff like that, so it might be kind of boring to go through all 50 of them one at a time?
Superb first episode! Excellent pacing and "storytelling." Keeping an audience captivated for 45 minutes of woodcutting, firemaking and fletching is no easy feat. I had a thought about the incense sticks- would that be considered a partial, like cleaning an herb? Firemaking is a breeze to train, unlike herblore, so it might not matter much but it struck me as a minor inconsistency. Can't wait for episode 2!
This is super valid and probably needs me to properly address it in a future video. What an unfinished item is, is a bit arbitrary. Some of it is historic - Source Chunk who maintains the chunk picker has over time added more tasks and some original tasks got missed related to 'unfinished' items. Like making part of a summer pie etc. I've mostly been looking at established channels to try to see what should be included, but they're mostly osrs channels so for stuff that's RS3 only I'll just have to decide myself. In reality every chunkman ends up with a slightly different ruleset so there's a lot of scope to pick a ruleset that fits what I think is fun 🙂
the deposit box is there because back in classic, only one person could talk to the banker at once. So people who were only dropping things off could use the box
Just a tip for low level combat - You'll be better off using Legacy Mode due to limited ability selection until you've unlocked better basic and threshold attacks at level 40+ for all combat styles.
enjoying this, subbed. As for the canoe, I think your next chunk being not directly connected to your first one makes for a more interesting challenge :)
This is very well edited, especially for a channel with only a few hundred views per video! I always keep an eye out for RS3 snowflake ironman, but had given up when Deserted stopped soon after the release of Necromancy. There are quite a lot of RS3 nuances that don't lend themselves well to the wildely successful OSRS-style snowflakes, but RS3 has a lot of very interesting mechanics, rewarding skilling (as opposed to OSRS where skilling is nearly pointless) and is far more of an active game you can engage with. I'm not sure how you'd do it as there isn't runlite for rs3, but making the chunk boarders visible in clips would help quite a lot. Perhaps personal preference, but I found saying the skill name after every level a bit annoying, but that may be as it was delivered the same every time. Another thing to consider is that RS3 allows a very generous zoom-out, and mixed with the very small UI icons, the clips aren't as visually appealing and can be difficult to see. This is perhaps a case of just RS3's style, but scaling up the size of everything and keeping the camera zoomed in just a bit more might help quite a lot. As for rollable chunks, I like the common rule-set of allowing teleports as rollable locations if you couldn't otherwise get to the location by foot. As in, Islands or other planes of existence, that sort of thing.
Great start to the series, and quite a rough grind! I enjoyed your ironman series, great to see you starting something new! IMO, I would suggest canoes not be used to unlock chunks.
I appreciate rs3 chunkman content. I did want to request that you put a little more mention about rs3 content like bank loadouts for ppl coming from osrs.
