I had the privilege of emailing Richard Hatch while he was still a teacher. He actually answered me back! I told him of my movie making ambitions, and he told me to never give up. I carry his words with me to this day....
@jonathanmartin-ives8665 , Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. That is a FANTASTIC story. And he seems like the kind of guy that would have stood behind his words. Just look at the commitment he had in the mid-90's trying to resurrect BSG with his Second Coming pilot. He was committed to that, and he did exactly what he mentioned to you, and he never gave up until all his options were exhausted. That is really a positive story that you shared. Thank you for that. And thank you again for your comment. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi on the way. Have a great day. Mike
@robertmcdonnold3038 Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. And I'm glad you enjoyed our video. I actually have a sketched outline for a Babylon 5 script, but I still have a lot of research to go on that one. I did do a Babylon 5 "Short" video, but shorts don't really do subject matter that much justice. You only have :58 seconds to tell a story. As far as Farscape goes, I though I was the only Farscape fan out there, lol. Out of all my friends, I am the only Farscape fan, so I didn't consider doing a Farscape video. I may have to reconsider that decision. Thank you again for your comment, and stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day. Mike
Wow, I didn't realize what this series had on so many for so long. Your editing is really professional. This is only part one of three, excellent! Cheers, Rik Spector
Thank you Rik. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I was trying to do just one video, but just going off my memory, and then doing the additional research to verify my memory and fill in things like the network restrictions and ratings and everything that went into the shows, the script I was writing was getting to large, and I didn’t want to just gloss over facts or just ignore them altogether. So I did a lord of the rings thing and took a one big story and broke it up into three. I have part two and three written and the narration for both recorded. Just have to put the final two together. So be on the look out, part two should be out later tomorrow possibly, but realistically Sunday. Have a great day, and thank you for continuing to be a valued subscriber to our channel. You are very appreciated. Have a great day. Mike
@jonathanmartin-ives8665 Thank you so much for your comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed our video. I did two additional videos for this series as well just because there was so much information for Battlestar Galactica, there was really no good way to put it into one video without missing a lot of relevant information. Even though I did three videos, there is still so much content that can be talked about. But, I will inevitably do a forth installment because Battlestar Galactica when it came out was special in 1979, and in my opinion, the franchise just keeps getting stronger. Anyway, thank you again for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day. Mike
FYI, the theatrical version was released in Canada over the summer of 1978. I saw it at the theatre and it was in sensurround. It was the version where Baltar was executed and Starbuck was shirtless in the launch bay. It was an immediately noticeable change when it premiered on ABC. I was so excited when it went to TV.
@samsonau8205, Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. I didn't realize it had been released in Canada in the summer of 1978. That is interesting. I remember harassing my dad when I was a kid to go see Battlestar in the theater at the end of the first season. And little kid me didn't realize that it was the first couple of episodes put together for a theatrical release. I remember being all confused when Baltar was executed, because I just watched a season of him alive and well in the series. We hope you enjoyed our video. We do have Part 2 uploaded to the channel, and Part 3 the conclusion should be posted in a few days. Thank you again for your coment, it is greatly appreciated. Ron could be considered to the Glenn Larson (RIP) of the 21st century. I really liked what he did for both DS9 and his writing for Battlestar Galactica.
@williammitchell4417, Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. We hope you enjoyed our video, and I absolutely agree with everything you just said. In particular with Star Trek Deep Space Nine. I liked that show when it first came out, and you can completely see the Ronald D. Moore influence in later seasons. That show is real hit or miss for fans. Either you like it or you don't. I happen to like it, and I really got into the Dominion War story arc. It will be interesting to see what the streaming platform, Peacock is going to do with the new BSG show that they are working on. From what I have read on it up to this point, it seems like it will operate in the Ronald D. Moore universe, much like the BSG prequel show Caprica did. But I guess we have to wait and see on that one. Thank you again for your comment, and stay tuned, there is more sci-fi on the way. Have a great day. Mike
@@scifiandmore 😆👏 Thank you for your kind words. I've been a fan of Ron's for many years. He wrote the forward to the DS9 technical manual. "The walls are made of wood..." Ron and Ira Stephen Bear said it best, it's about the story and your imagination... Not just space battles (Zap, kapow, zowie!!) The thing that I noticed the most about Caprica, Ron pretty much gave up after the first 6 episodes. David Eick his "partner" co- producer wanted to give the Zoe arc more of a oomf to the story... With Tamara.
Loved the original season, and we watched it as a family, even though my dad was more a fan of "All in the Family". I don't remember a lot about the 1980 season, except that I found it disappointing. I don't think I've ever seen all of those shows. I've seen bits of the more recent reboot and have been meaning to watch the whole thing ... but I watched or watch so little of TV (or streaming shows), that I've not gotten around to it yet. Maybe it's about time. 🙂
@Rabblewitz, We hope you enjoyed of video, and thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. I absolutely loved the original, because for me it was literally the greatest time to be a kid and Glen A. Larson just dominated television with Knight Rider, Buck Rogers, BSG, the list just goes on. The only time I ever ran into a problem with All in the Family is when we would stay late visiting my Grandparents on Sunday. My Grandfather was all about Archie Bunker and he wasn't going to change the channel for anyone. Galactica 1980, I mean what can I say. That show is an acquired taste. I am very interested to see what's coming next. The streaming platform, Peacock is working on a new BSG show so it will be interesting to see what come out of that idea. Anyway, again thank you for your comment and stay tuned, there is more sci-fi on the way. Have a great day. Mike
@Paul__FC, I'm glad you enjoyed our video and thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. The reason this episode and Part 2, which I just uploaded yesterday, is taking longer to catch on is because I had taken a couple of months off from the channel, not by choice, but I had to actually do some Responsible Family Adult Stuff. As a result viewership for the channel had dropped off a bit. But since I uploaded this Battlestar Galactica video, and got back to also uploading a few "Short" videos a week, the channel is gaining traction again. I originally was only going to do one video, but there was no way that you could give the Battlestar Galactica franchise the credit it truly deserves in just one twenty minute glossed over video. There would be so much that would have been left on the table. So as I was researching, the script just kept getting larger and larger, so I broke it into three parts so I could be thorough, and respectful of a franchise that has given me so much joy since I was a kid. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you again for your comment. If you have a chance to check out part two, it is on the channel now, and part three the conclusion will be there shortly. So stay tuned, more sci-fi is on the way. Have a great day. Mike
Maybe you're planning on covering these later, but a couple of facts to add: 1)The reason the original BSG lasted as long as it did with the staggering costs is because it was funded by the Mormon church since it was telling their story. 2)The two theatrical releases of BSG were shot in Sensurround; joining Midway, Roller Coaster and Earthquake as the only five movies to use it. Once I heard they were replacing Cylons with models from the Sears catalog, I was a big nope on the remake. But from what I have seen, it gives a big Skynet/Terminator ripoff vibe anyway. I'm sure the remake was enjoyable, but I'll stick with my treasured memories of hackneyed storytelling, dated set design and feathered hair, thanks...
@indyspotes3310, Thank you for you comment, it is greatly appreciated. And we hope you enjoyed our video. I agree with you on the Terminator/Skynet connection. That was one of the first things I thought about back in 2003 with the initial rebooted Miniseries. Recently "Skynet" made an appearance in Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard. Sometimes I think nobody, has anyone ever seen Terminator, lol. I was a kid when the original BSG came out, and I absolutely loved it, and still do. The new one was much deeper, but it was a really good iteration of the show. I'm interested to see what comes next with the streaming platform Peacock developing a new Battlestar Galactica show. As far as the Mormon aspect, now that I have uploaded part 2 of this series, I am planning to cover the Mormon faith and the other religious aspects of both shows in Part 3, which I'm working on right now. I wasn't sure about the Mormons funding the original BSG. I did do some research after reading your comment looking around for that, but I haven't come up with anything yet. It wouldn't surprise me though Given Glen A. Larsons' affiliation with the Church of LDS. I'm going to keep looking for that and hopefully I can come up with something. Excellent comment, thank you again, and stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day. Mike
@charlephxaz Thank you for your comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed our video. If I'm being honest, that name was a struggle for me. But I appreciate that you pointed that out to me because, now that I have uploaded parts one and two of my Battlestar Galactica Then and Now Retrospective, I can make sure to get that name right for part three, the conclusion of the series. Excellent catch on that. Again, thank you so much for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi on the way. Have a great day. Mike

Hot chick Starbuck is fine, but changing the cylons from ancient artifacts of a long dead alien civilization to, basically, Skynet, was stupid.
