    Not sure you got the trick Bran played on Grey Worm: there is indeed no Night’s Watch anymore. Just a bunch of volunteers, mostly Wildings, stationed at Castle Black. Bran basically set Jon free without the Unsullied noticing. Jon belongs to the Free Folk and is now their natural leader.

      Yeah exactly, there is no Night's Watch, not really. There's no threat north of the wall anymore, so there's reason for the Watchers on the Wall. And pretty much confirmed by seeing Jon just go north with the free folk. Probably go find himself another ginger wildling!

    • @jmeds94

      @@RyoHazuki224 In the book there's a wildling named Val (sister of Mance Rayder's wife), she is a beautiful blonde that everyone is trying to get with. Her boyfriend fell from the wall when Jon and Ygritte climbed it.
      I have a sneaking suspicion that when Jon goes north in the books, Val's going to be part of his consolation prize and he'll also raise Mance Rayder's son Aemon Steelsong (another secret Targaryen) as his own.

    Basically, Tyrion lost his genius, when the show writers ran out of source material, just about the same time when he started to tell really bad jokes. But of course that is only a correlation. From then on they just made all kinds of characters say that he is a Genius, without prooving or explaining it.
    But it is even worse with Sansa, because many characters said she was the smartest person ..., but since that only started after there was no source material, there is literally nothing that backs that up. And I mean stories where you see it unfolding not just her knowing things out of thin air with no build up

    • @NovaLena22

      Perhaps...but Sansa was clever enough to keep herself alive -- even when surrounded by enemies. And others who were supposedly smarter (Tywin, Stannis, Littlefinger, Ned, Olenna, Margaery, etc.) ended up dead.

      @@NovaLena22clever enough to keep her stay alive is wayyy to much credit for her. Her time in Kingslanding consisted of her just doing whatever they told her because she was scared. Refusing to go with the hound when he offered to take her away from there and go back north.
      Then little finger took her to the vale where all she did was lie once to defend him cause she thought he was good.
      At one point also turning away brienne’s help, trusting littlefinger who was giving her to the Boltons.
      Then she didn’t really do anything there. Then she was rescued by Theon and they got saved by Brienne. And eventually being reunited with Jon, which at that point she was never in immediate danger anymore.

This whole episode isn't really John arguing on Dany's behalf, it's him trying to figure out if there's even a possibility that he doesn't have to kill her. He is unable to comprehend how someone he trusted and believed in so much could go so far astray. This is a perfect "Shiny Object" story. All the main players were running around being preoccupied with being the "Hero"..... In the background were Bran (3 eyed Raven) and Littefinger actually playing, and in Bran's case, winning the "Game".

    The cool thing that this ending leaves open is that there will be a civil war in about 90 years. Bran doesn't have heirs, Sansa won't get married, I think, the only one left is Baratheon, so Gendry has children. And even those children will be questioned by the bastardy of their father.

    One more comment (sorry!). Something I thought was cool is that the most Ned Stark-like character, Jon, ended up doing exactly what the “Kingslayer” Jaime did, which drew the disgust of Ned Stark himself and so many other honorable people in Westeros. Ned was the one who found Jaime after he killed the Mad King, and he was horrified by his lack of honor. Ao I just found it really interesting that the most honorable character in the show ended up in the same place, for the same reasons.

    It took me a while, but eventually I caught onto the idea that Bran is a dues ex machina, ideal king.
    The point of the show is that there isn't any human being on the planet (even Jon) who is "fit" to be a monarch. Jon would be good one for a few years until something comes up that he doesn't know how to handle. He'd make mistakes and people would suffer for it. No one should really be THE king who gets to rule over everyone, make up laws, organize government, etc because there isn't anybody so unbiased and beyond mortal men that they wouldn't abuse/mistreat that power. So what's the solution? Someone who isn't human, but beyond human. BUT also has a noble heart, like Bran learned from Ned all those years ago.
    It was all about the throne, not the battle. Because figuring out how to create world peace is more important than crushing our enemies. Bran can accomplish Dany's idealistic vision without bloodshed.

    I'm so glad that Steejo made the connection between the ginger queen of the north and Scottish history. The whole series of books is based on the history of the English throne - i.e. Wars of the Roses is inspiration for A Song of Ice and Fire, and The Anarchy is inspiration for House of the Dragon. 🤓 Also, yes, Denarys had a vision when she was in the House of the Undying and she went to get her dragons back; the sorcerers gave her a vision to distract her: she walked through the throne room of the Red Keep and "almost" touched the throne but was called by the dragons to walk through the tunnel into the Lands of Always Winter where she spoke with Khal Drogo and their son.

    It's crazy how the writers (Dave and Dan) really messed up this last season to the point that they haven't been attached to any other big and significant project since. Even George RR. Martin was allegedly upset and annoyed with them and the creative decisions they made in the end. They took a candidate for the greatest show of all time and really ruined the ending in most peoples' eyes. Thankfully we have House of the Dragon now which started off REALLY well.

    • @CASantos
      @CASantos 7 місяців тому

      Sadly we should've seen the writing on the wall far earlier. George's tone on the show became palpably more bitter and detached around the middle of the show (when dan & dave began pushing him out of his own project). The last 2 seasons were a logic wasteland, but it became markedly un-GRRM honestly as early as S5 (earlier even, but that's a whole other conversation).

      @@SerbAtheist By vast majority consensus the ending was horrible. That's pretty much cemented in the legacy of the show by now. When people bring up GOT they'll almost always bring up the horrible ending and how it ruined the show. There's people who wont even give House of Dragon a chance because of how bad the GOT ending was. D&D basically rushed it because they were burnt out for a while, had been struggling creatively since they ran out of book material, and wanted to move on to Star Wars which fell through. They really just didn't care by the end and were focused on other things and anxious to finish and leave. Even George RR Martin was disappointed with them.

    • @SerbAtheist
      @SerbAtheist 7 місяців тому

      @@zjk6203 First of all, not even close to a 'vast majority'. Many people like the ending. Second of all, many brilliant works of art were initially panned by an audience too daft to recognize and appreciate what was happening. Dany's turn will remain one of the most brilliant moments in the history of television.
      Finally, the later seasons are creatively the best part of the show where the true themes finally emerge. So many brilliant moments in S8 alone: Sam telling Jon, Jaime knighting Brienne, Arya killing Bran, Tyrion freeing Jaime, Dany's coin flipping when the bells are rung, the horrific carnage in KL, Jaime and Cersei dying together, Tyrion finding Cersei and Jaime, Dany's speech, Tyrion's and Jon's convo, Jon confronting Dany in the Throne Room and the whole resulting sequence, Tyrion arguing for Bran and Bran being chosen, the culmination of the whole show, Brienne writing Jaime's book, the Small Council and, last but not least, the three mainest characters continuing on their journey in life.
      How pathetic are the nitpickery of counting of troops and bricks and the cultishness of crying over 'my khaleeeeeseeeee' in comparison.

    • @zjk6203
      @zjk6203 7 місяців тому

      @SerbAtheist It was a vast majority, you couldn’t be online for a couple of years without seeing memes or jokes about how bad the ending was. You would be on sites, pages, videos, that had nothing to do with game thrones and someone would find a way to bring up a joke about how bad the ending was. If you want to put your head under a rock and pretend that wasn’t the case okay but people in reality saw how badly it was received. Dave and Dan basically said they were going to go into hiding once those episodes dropped because they knew what they did.

      There isn’t a show on that level of popularity whose ending was more widely ridiculed. It was a huge online convo for almost a year. Nobody is too “daft” to recognize anything. The later seasons are all straight forward especially compared to seasons 1-5. If you really think that last season was something so complex it went over peoples’ heads and they couldn’t “understand what was happening” then your bar for what constitutes good art or complex art is REALLY low.

      Everyone knows Dave and Dan themselves didn’t care and were rushing to just finish and leave. They grew to hate doing the show. For you to pretend like some great complex art came out of that when everyone else can clearly see it was rushed, horribly thought out, and badly executed then you are only fooling yourself. Dave and Dan knew that last seasons was horrible. George RR knew.

      If you like it, good for you, but you have to accept when the clear majority does not and that it will go down in history as arguably the worst ending of all time or at least to a major show on that level.

    Maester Pycelle: Yes, women, cravens and eunuchs. Did you know that Lord Varys is a eunuch?

    I totally agree with your guys views on the series and season 8. The only issue I have is that season 8 was too rushed. Things were just let go that would have been corrected in previous seasons and it felt like scenes were missing. I would have liked to see a full 10 episode season 8 with the story more filled in but how the story played out was fine by me. I don't see anything wrong with the writing, I just think they cut out way too much to make it all fit into 6 episodes. It does leave a slightly sour taste at the end of GoT but it certainly doesn't ruin the show for me and it's certainly well worth watching still.

    The reason you find the snow on the Iron Throne familiar is because when Dany was on her way to rescue her dragons from House of the Undying in Qarth, it was part of her "journey" to find them. It was right before she encountered Drogo and her child in the tent. When she was standing before the Iron Throne in that scene, she held back from touching it, and moved on.
