  • Lake owner pulls the plug...well not quite... but we do have a drained lake to show you!
    Our man Bonesy took a walk around his local lake, Lavender Hall, last month while the owners drained it for desilting and restocking. This gave us a great opportunity to show you exactly what lies beneath when you think your'e fishing the spots and searching for that all important 'donk'!
    Let us know in the comments if you noticed anything on Bones's walk round or disagree with his findings!

    Honestly so much learnt! When fishing to any island or margin and there are trees on the bank !! Be at least a 6/7ft away when presenting bait.. also did not realise how instant it is between gravel bar and silt !! Ive fished just off gravel bars thinking it would be still slightly gravely ! Still using short rigs ! I probably just cast bait and rig into silt! Cracking watch and thanks for making me re think things 😊

    well this has opened my eyes a bit to fishing. i dont mornally feel the lead down all the time on a small lake that i fish but after watching this maybe i will from now on. i normally try and get as tight to the island as i can but again i think maybe i will continue to do so but not so close to where the trees are. those roots are a massive snag.
    great video my man. 👍👍🐟🐟

    I was surprised at how deep the silt went and how fast the depth of it went from gravel to two foot plus. Is there any way of finding out how deep the silt fishing in is? If you have no choice but to fish on the silt I'd like to know the difference between it being 5 or 6 inch & your bait having a chance of still presenting or it being 2 foot of really soft silt and the lead dragging your bait deep down in it & you not knowingly fishing behind a buried rig and bait.

      of course, fish love the silt and will feed in it also at times. This was more aimed at the potential of where you think you are fishing and where you actually might be and the importance of being accurate.

    Dont fear the silt. Puddle pigs love shit/silt too. Love a clear lake in summer, with carp, greedily and obviously feeding in the silt for bloodworm. Stalkers dream fishing.......freeline a worm on a size 8, or a fly fished worm pattern and its usually game on.

    Is there any reason for the amount of silt in this lake? Is it just broken down vegetation such as leaves and stuff? Or is there another reason? As for the tree roots, a big carp would find it impossible to feed where the roots are so dense. Great video, it shows up some of the difficulties the owners face to maintain a commercial fishery.

    • @TrakkerTV
      @TrakkerTV  Рік тому +1

      Its a reasonably old lake that i think even by owners admission, its been relatively unattended... If you check out their own page you will see they have since done a lot of work on the lake and started to refill it ready for carp!
