- In honor of Record Store Day, we present to you this video, which celebrates the confluence of love and music. Have you ever noticed that the record store is one of cinema's most romantic locations? It's true: Think about all of the films where a new couple whimsically strolls through a record shop, flipping through vinyls while sharing personal details and tastes. There is just something romantic about this scenario, and it likely stems from the romantic power of music that, due to the added nostalgia factor, is amplified if the movie takes place after the rise of CDs and digital downloads. Watching love blossom in a record store is heartwarming and satisfying; we tend to get lulled into the cozy security of the tender, simple memories these scenes evoke in us. This video examines the record store as a cinematic location for romance, and explores how films embrace and subvert a beloved trope.
