This is so incredible. Thank you so much. Almost never has UA-cam come through for me like this, Charbel, you are one of the best musicians to ever live.
I wish I could download your oud playing skills into my brain / being. Such expressive range with a beautiful instrument / timbre. The sound is nectar for the soul... You play so beautifully. Thank you.
I just learned what this instrument is called. I love it so much and never had a clue. Thank you so much! Your playing is magnificent. I could listen to it all day. Will you marry me and play Oud for me all day? 😉
I had begun to take lessons and did know about the positions on the oud. ( and I play cello where you have 7 positions and then thumb positions ). My oud teacher doesn’t touch on that and had even asked him. ( He almost dismissed it) Should he had mention 1rst and 1/2 positions along with the scales he has been showing me?
Of course. As Charbel said in this video, it is much better to play a Maqam Iike Ajam on C with first position because it lets you do more ornaments since you don’t need any flats to play Ajam. But then again I would argue the two most important positions are definitely half and first. For the other ones you should just know where the notes are going up the fretboard and be comfortable playing them.

@@AlifLamMiim I think you would like the mandoloncello. It's like a lute or oud but tuned like a cello.
@@gokuuzumaki70 I like fret less instruments the most right now. Currently just focusing on Oud and Qanun
@@AlifLamMiim Oh sorry that was meant for the other guy, because he said he plays cello.
Fast Tremolo picking between different strings...get stuck...any help....have to play 6 notes in two beats....
nah
Practice slow and increase tempo gradually and only increase once you're comfortable with the tempo you're practicing on
