    I can relate with the overwhelming feeling that comes with the request of a client for high level technical SEO recommendations. I recently landed an SEO job at my current company, one month in and I’m being asked to make technical recommendations already. Weekly meetings make me sweat, and I literally spend 12 - 14 hours a day at my desk trying to learn fast so I can meet up. Thank you for sharing your struggle.
    I will appreciate any recommendations of resources that might help.
    I’m happy to connect with you as a mentor. I know how valuable your time is, so to meet with you to talk.
    Thanks!

      Hi Sehun. Thanks for the great comment. I still find myself getting anxious about doing hard technical SEO or on-page SEO recommendations. Most of the time, I’m over reacting though. I know this because the clients I work with them tell me how much “they love my work!”. I’m sure you will also experience this too (maybe).
      What do I recommend for technical SEO? I’m still trying to find a good resource for technical SEO that shows you how to practically do SEO. One shortcut is to look at what your competitors are doing and try to replicate it. Only do this if it makes sense to and use some originality, don’t only replicate.
      Udemy has some good technical SEO videos for cheap. You could start there or use a more advanced program like Reliablesoft course (which I don’t remember if it goes in-depth for technical SEO but it’s decent). I’ll make a video on technical SEO since that’s what people want see.
      I would like to help people more at a one to one level as a mentor, since I know it can be extremely helpful to others. Be on the lookout for a new mentorship program I will release this year.
      And thanks for your support.

    Great video. I’m currently on the path to becoming an seo. I started a blog a while back to get some hands on practice . I’ve taken numerous courses and have certifications and I also did a 3 month apprenticeship. It’s interesting because I come from a warehouse background as well but hopefully soon I can transition into an seo career. Just waiting to get a house haha

      Hi Christopher. That's awesome how you're trying to get into SEO for a career. There's a lot of work for it, for sure. It's so cool to hear from other people who have a warehouse background like myself. I remember my time at Amazon warehouse so vividly, but I don't necessarily miss it lol. Good luck getting that house. If you ever have any questions on SEO and how I can help you out, reach out! I'm here to help.

I think the most important thing to remember here is that SEO is a constantly growing and changing field (that's been true always) and you should be willing to grow in any career. Hi Vishal. I always provide honest answers. I do my best to make the best recommendations to everyone. Yes. I do recommend to learn SEO if digital marketing interests you. You get to learn a lot about different industries. My goal is to make money with different websites, running a small SEO agency, and maybe starting an e-commerce store in the future with my SEO skills. You can do a lot in SEO. I recommend you learn about what on-page, technical, and off-page SEO are about and learn about Google Business Profile (local SEO). Feel free to ask more SEO questions if you have any.

    Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. Definitely, you will need to have some portfolio and not only courses. I have courses, but that wasn't enough to get a job in an agency even for the internship.
    I am currently working on my blog. Would you advise having a personal website as SEO Specialist/ Digital Marketing Specialist or just a blog to apply for freelancer work?

    • @SolvingSEO
      @SolvingSEO  Рік тому

      Great question, Haare. Prospective clients only care about SEO results (that depends on what you measure: traffic, keyword rankings, sales, etc.). One thing you can do is have a blog about a topic that interests you. Your goal should be to grow your website traffic (sales are okay too). People or prospective clients want to see that you can do the same for them. You can have 2 websites if you really want to, but it is not necessary to get a job with an agency. I will say it looks way better than not having one. The agency owners I've worked with almost never ask me for a portfolio (I told them I was a beginner, that I wanted to learn and grow, and that I took a few courses on SEO, web design, UX/UI, etc.). This was enough for me, but if you can, then get website traffic to a blog of yours. It's not a hard requirement to have 2 websites. Understand your long-term goals and make sure your website optimize for that.

    Hi, this is a really informative video, thanks. I'm a content writer and know a bit about SEO, but I'd like to transition fully to SEO. In the video you mention working with an agency on Upwork (I think), which sounds like a great place to gain some experience. I've not had a great experience on Upwork, so I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of any SEO agencies (on Upwork or anywhere else) who might be willing to take on someone eager to learn?

    • @SolvingSEO
      @SolvingSEO  Рік тому +2

      Hey Liz. Great question.
      So I've worked with probably close to 5 SEO agencies through Upwork. My experience has been the opposite, but it's taken some time to get there. I'll say the following: there are always new SEO agencies looking to hire content writers, SEO specialists (you'd be a great fit for any agency with your background experience--which you can build on for SEO), project managers, and everything in-between.
      With that said, here's how you can get your next job working at an agency: Improve your Upwork profile, make sure that everything is filled out properly (research), select the right freelance category (test out "Content Writing" and "Digital Marketing"---I believe you'll find most of the SEO agencies through either category to be fair, but you're more likely to get hired as an SEO Specialist w/ a background in writing if you go the "Digital Marketing" category).
      Pro tip: You can usually spot new growing SEO agencies because they say so upfront. These are your best bets to apply to. Just try to apply fast and be upfront about your goals.

      The first phrase has no search volume. You need to first understand what you're optimizing for. Meaning, what is the end goal with these keyword phrases? (ask yourself, are these keyword phrases informational, transactional, etc?). Who is your target demographic (who's your audience?)? What do you plan on offering (selling)? @SolvingSEO  Рік тому

      Hi Eirin. Good question.
      I believe you're not required to know SEO to get started in PPC, but I do know people sometimes transition from SEO into PPC. Knowing keyword research intent is crucial.
      They're very different in terms of what a day in the life looks like (I tried learning PPC in my free time). SEO is a long-term result-based skill vs. PPC can give you quick results in a short amount of time.
      If you'd like, you can take free courses in SEO and PPC. Then, you can determine what type of career you see yourself doing.
      There are plenty of clients looking for quicker results, and PPC is a great way to do that.

You mentioned you learned about SEO, but if you're not certified in it yet, then I would get my SEO certification from Coursera or a similar place. Then, I would apply to as many Upwork Freelancer SEO agency jobs as I possibly could everyday (maybe 3 to 5 positions per day will do until you get an interview and get hired). The good thing about working with an SEO agency is they will teach you a lot about what it takes to run an SEO agency, how to do the work, and they will train you to do a good job in SEO. I would start with these tips.

Additionally, some agency owners I know make close to $100 an hour or more. That said, some agency owners don't even charge per hour.
