thanks for the vid, george ross. intresting way of cutting to length. seems fast and all straight to the stack, no picking small lengths in the woods, and less damage to tracks as theres is no 20 ton plus fowarder loaded and rutting the tracks. thanks from jason in mid wales in u.k.

Nice operation not sure where you are located , If you are in Ontario though any idea where I could get parts for a 440 B John Deere skidder I inherited . I would really like a couple used 18.4-26 tires till I see how it works . I got a small mixed hardwood bush with this too maybe cut me some firewood , I heat with save buying and clean up some bush roads again nice video .
My old man had two can- cars with gearmatic transmission. He learned logged and died old school! Butt warmers w air conditioning and surround sound:get a job!! A real job!!

Right now with the Canadian dollar the way it is Canadian forest products are attractive to American buyers. The pulp mill in Trenton is doing more business. I know it's easy for someone to say how your doing it wrong or i would have done it different sitting here on computer. Im not going to do that ,but i am going to ask you a question. Do you not think a track feller buncher and like a 2154 with processor head on it would yield a lot more production?
probably too big and cumbersome to run through the hilly, wooded terrain. what looks like new england hardwoods. this setup is the most common in northeast hardwoods, from what i've seen.
me being grown up around feller bunchers and forestry equipment processor heads are not cheap and they can handle the rocky and hilly terrain in Ontario

@effinghamhick I agree with effinghamhick, i ran both a 640G and 640GIII (both cable skidders unlike the one in the video) for years and we worked em pretty hard, no major issues ever they are like sherman tanks. Tigercat and Cat may have better units but ill bet they cost a lot more too. I did here from a fellow logger than the older cats where slow as smoke but i think they fixed that a while back. That being said i do like tigercat's feature where the seat can turn and face the rear. I got out several years ago when the housing market slowed way down and the guy i was working for sold out. Either way my back is still sore from looking back so much I wouldnt turn down the opportunity to try the other rigs, never got the chance.
Its interesting. We are so different. Does anyone knows how many cubic meters of wood they do here in one month? I just want to compare. Over there is for one harvestor and forwarder monthly norm around 1600-2000 m3. If thinks go well and nothink breaks up.

We have a cat 320 c with a Waratah 622b and we bunch up to 35% grade sometimes

That processor is very inefficient. A bar saw processor head like a waratah or ponsse head is much faster.
