Hi Mirgan, thank you so much :) So the spine isn't the strongest if I'm honest, Its okay if you have the furby partially leaning on something and it does help hold the shape a bit, but its not super sturdy. Using a thicker armature might work a bit better (I used 1/4") or I was thinking it might be an idea to tie a few together. 🤷♂️♥
I absolutely adore your furby design, he has SO much personality! Great video, but I didn’t fully understand the zipper mechanic. A close up demo would have been appreciated as I would LOVE to follow this tutorial, having already made on non-functional long furby.
I'm making a long furby and for the spine I used a type of hose called loc line. it's practically the same as doll armature which is used in the video, but you can get it for much cheaper - I paid about £9 to get 12 x 30cm of 1/2" loc line (about 3.6 metres of spine)
Thanks so much Lula! I would consider making a commissioned one but the materials alone cost so much where I come from, and once added to my time and labour it would end up costing well into the hundreds. I'm really happy to answer any questions though if you need some help making one :)

Hello!! This has got to be the most informative video on oddmodding a long furby ive come across, please tell me how many yards of fabric did you order for your boy? And it was all continuous yardage right?
Oh thank you so much Oliver, I'm glad you've found it helpful. So I got 1/2 metre of the dusty pink fur fabric and a metre of the main black fabric. (I could have probably got away with less of the black as I had quite a bit spare) I did have to sew two separate pieces together to make it as long as I wanted it, but because its fur fabric the part where they have been sewed together is undetectable.
I cant wait to get my first Furby to modify. I'm a bit intimidated about the eyecaps but really wanna try that part too Is it possible to save the eyecaps after removal or is it not really possible to clean off the hot glue? Seems like a waste sadly
if your still answering questions i would like to know how u removed the original eyes? im guessing that there is some way to pop out the irises. im making a long furby and im not sure if im gonna change up the eyes😸 also the fur is so pretty ahhh
if you mean the eyechips, you can take out the eyes by melting the ends of hot glue sticks and sticking them onto the eyes, then pull on the sticks and the chips should come out
what size/thickness spine did you use? and how was balancing the furby? im making a very custom working long furby and i was worried about him being to heavy to pose. Also, could you give a link for the eye chips you bought?

I love how there's just calming music in the background as they shove burning wax into their Furbys eyes.
Genuinely love how "deskinning" and "flaying" is solely used for furbies while for other dolls it's just "removing their hair/fur/scales"
It’s because furbies are hellspawn and we all know it lol
