The Yoruba religion and philosophy preach harmony with self and with nature. Because Yoruba believes that everything in this planet is alive and it has Spirit. So the Spirit need to be honor. There is something called Iwa Pele in Yoruba, mean to be humble and treat everyone with respect and dignity. That why you will never Yoruba traditional religion believers, fighting to depend their beliefs. But European and Arab invading have a lot of damage on our people. Actually both Christianity and Islam all borrow from Ancient African beliefs system of honoring the Might Sun and Moon, but the Arab and European add their own element. Till this moment the Sango Devotee still honor Moon and Thunder and the used the Ram to make sacrifice to Deities of Moon and thunder. The same with Sun. And many Yoruba religion symbol are using by many powerful corporations, like Starbuck, the use Olukun or Yemoja. Ancestral worship is part of existence. Because in Yoruba philosophy, believe, dead is not the end, rather continuation of another life, that why the honor the past ancestors. Like Shango, Oya, Ogun, Obatala. Yemonja and more. Nothing demonic in honoring the Mother Earth.

The race argument as the main reason for embracing Ocha is absurd. In Cuba many white people are babalawos, babalochas and iyalochas regardless and have no issues with the African origin of terms, costumes, traditions, etc. By the other hand Jesus was a jew most certainly not blond much less blue eyed if it ever mattered at all.

I understand Jesus genetically would've had brown skin and short curly black hair.

The ANCESTRAL CONNECTION argument as the main reason for embracing Ocha is NOT absurd.....at all. Same thing goes for a Japanese person embracing Shinto....or an East Indian person embracing Hinduism......or an Nordic/Scandanavian person embracing Odinism or Asatru. It's not about "race"; but it is about ANCESTRY. Absolutely nothing wrong with people returning to the ways of THEIR own Ancestors.
