Try Disney lorcana a nice paced 6-8 turn game where winning is more based on order of events and counter play and less about the opening hand though it can help a great deal!
Between the old cards from Yugioh and Pokemon, this is what makes og Yu-Gi-Oh cards great. They're still playable in today's meta with the right deck setup. Pretty sure you wouldn't see base Pokemon cards be used in today's game since their stats are completely outdated. Meanwhile Exodia, Dark Magician and Blue Eyes are still being played after all these years.
Yeah, power creep hit Pokemon hard. It's remedied by rotating cards and having a standard format, but I like that Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't rotate cards, that any old card you have (unless it's banned lol) could be played today in a tournament. Pokemon with friends obviously changes things, we all play "expanded" in my irl group, but still.
I love it when these ancient ass decks win. I hope Konami is seething at the fact that theres nothing in the deck they can use to promote a product on the market right now. I fucking love it.
This should really be a part of the next master rule changes. Make EVERYTHING a hard once per turn no ifs or buts.NOTHING good has come from non once per turn effects.

If everything else was a hard once per turn, that leaves additional room for supporting archetypes that get hit due to it to receive new support. But every now and again, someone finds a loop that is unhealthy for the game and gets cards limited or banned. Put a hard once per turn clause and suddenly a good portion of banned or limited cards come off the list.
