1. Playing wrecking ball more than once 💀
I play him just to roll around lmao💀
U guys obviously dont know any ball techs 🤡
@@prodbyyonyon who cares just roll and annoy the crap out of the enemy backline idc if i lose or die atleast im having fun (and tech dont matter if the map turns into a ping pong match)
@@xdgamer0189 techs are important for mastering ball. For example, wall jump is highly important for getting to higher platforms and activating piledrive without having to use any cooldowns. The super jump can open up routes to unsuspecting enemies like kings row highground point A defense. Minefield piledrive is used for keeping people in your minefield radius while it is activating with your piledrive. Stall spots and roof surfing can be used to make flanks that no other character can make and secure kills. Bhopping is used to keep momentum after a fireball which helps with rolling out faster. Bounces are used to gain more height by abusing ramps and vertices in map geometry. Reloading inside of ball form is better than reloading in crab form, i see way to many balls reloading in crab form when you can get only a very slightly slower reload, but with all the benefits of ball form.
That’s a brief explanation on why techs are important
@@prodbyyonyon i kinda agree with this the main issues with my as a ball player is that the maps are too filled with random boxes and stupid low walls killing my momentum
“You’re not valuing your own life enough”
yeah i know
Thats the whole point
Lol
I never did. :3
Fax bro
do better, go take a shower I know you smell like caca cabron.
This is the first character that I think you need more than 3 bad habits 🤣🤣
Junk and Genji should have like 10 KEKW
@@RauKnowsOWI'm junk main and I'm trying to learn ball
Such a fun character to play, and his ultimate is so cool too.
He really is! The piledrive is insane if you have aim to merc them in the air stunned
Fun character yes, very annoying when they wont let you heal them also yes(they never want my healing idk why)
He saved the game for me. Pharah just doesn't cut it any longer. She still good, but needs good healers in my opinion. I hate dying.
@@AnotherTransGirl you don’t really need to focus heal on a good ball because they can always run around the map to look for heal packs
@@AnotherTransGirl as a ball player and a support main i find mercy is by far the best if you have a ball player since you have a lock on beam and good mobility to keep up with them
Additional comment to tip one of not valuing your life enough, try to also make sure you don’t value your own life TOO much. It can be hard since Wrecking Ball has the largest hitbox in the game, but you’re still a tank capable of soaking damage. Being the most mobile tank, you can also easily escape back to your healers.
I see way too many wrecking balls, who roll up, piledrive, shield, unfold and shoot, and then roll away sometimes even before they’ve used all of their adaptive shield when they could have gotten another pick
If you're playing OverWatch you're clearly not valuing your life enough in game and out
And you felt the need to scroll through the comments of an Overwatch video just to say that…?
Ball is the best tank for damage soaking out of all tanks bc his headshot box is both really small and nonexistent in ball form
What happens too me is that a enemy has like 100 hp left and bom ammo gone
@@Prizma_of_Prymina he didn’t do it for you
Great tips. Ran into a sweaty wrecking ball in competitive the other day and OH BOY was it annoying 🤣🤣
Yeah he can dominate haha
For new Ball players I would definitely learn some techs, wall jumping is definitely the most important being able to pile drive almost anywhere without using grapple is incredibly useful
Agreed also doing piles off the payload
I still can't do it, any tricks? I already know what to use (S+jump) on PC, but I can't achieve the wall jump, in every wall
Good habit to build is knowing healthpack locations, most healers will heal too slow and as Hammond you can just roll through like 3 health packs within a second and re enter the battle rather than waiting 9 seconds for mercy and Lucio heals
But then you're denying ult charge for your healers. If there's not a rush which 2-3 seconds will matter for, and if your whole rest of team doesn't also need healing, it would be better for you to just wait around and let the healers heal you.
@@LoudWaffle well yeah but respawn timers are like 5 seconds, like 80% of the time it's better to just grab the health packs. I mean obviously if you're just vibing let the healers get their ult lmao
@@LoudWaffle normally ball having anywhere around 200 hp missing means the next fight will be rough, and ball should be the last to die meaning your support is still moving back to obj. You just gotta choose between roll back to them and hope they get you healed up in time or steal the enemy pack then get topped off.
I've never valued my own life enough... Oh and I need to play ball more cautiously too
I see what you did there...
You cheeky bastard!
same
I miss the old days when you could grapple infinitely around point or payload, it was so much fun to play mental and attrition games with an entire team. That being said, it can still be done, but at a greater cost.
That was literal cancer man, I hated it when a ball could just spin infinitely
@@jayden9364 That was one of the reasons I main Sombra. She was and still is a great hard counter to Hammond shenanigans.
@@beezyo3042
There's actually a top Ball player who's great at dealing with Sombra and actually makes her his primary target. I'm trying to learn from his videos too 😁
@@Das_Ungeheuer Is that top player Beaver? He's the one I know who's great at Ball
@@beezyo3042
There's Beaver, Yeatle, even Harbleu (although he's being more on other tanks lately), but the one I was talking about is Chazm. I just saw a video where he basically was chasing and shutting down a Sombra on Esperança.
You know, normally I watch these and go “oh yea obviously” because I’ve been playing since launch and I for the most part know how to play every character, but Hammond has always eluded me and these tips were very helpful
Much love ❤️
Finally I've been waiting for it for a while, also love the growth that you have made and here's to more.
Much love ❤️ years ahead of us :)
3 bad habits of every wreaking ball main:
1: queuing for comp
@Royal Messiah it so easy to bait all of their cool downs but good one
As a ball main if you are going for a specific dive target make sure you engage by fire balling into them before pile driving so you can get a clean 150 damage engage on the enemy 50 for the roll and 100 for the direct pile drive hit.
Sometimes you can get a double or triple fireball hit into dive and kill their squishies instantly mwahaha
I haven’t been playing that long and I didn’t even know that going into ball mode reloaded your guns. So this helped a lot for whenever I’m going to play wrecking ball
I am a Wreckingball/Hammond main, and I approve these beginner tips.
For an overwatch newbie, this was helpful, didn't know the ball form reloads. Now im unstoppable!
Yessss
From a true ball main, these tips are GOLDEN! These tips are probably in 95% of ball vod reviews. People truly misunderstand how to play ball, he is counter-intuitive
"You're most likely distracted by homosexual thoughts as you play wrecking ball"
His ult also charges fast if you know how to use it, always use your shields in a big crowd and use your ground pound in big crowds to (Mainly for fast ult charge). Another tip is the best way to use his ult is going in the air, placing it, then ground pound, or you can place it on the point or at the enemy spawn or in tight spaces
The only ability he offers a group is his own survival but offers zero utility to the rest of the team.
I’ve been playing wrecking ball religiously since he first came out and this is probably the 3 best lessons I had to learn before I became better at the hero, another one is targeting less mobile heroes like zenyatta and finishing them off with a melee is far quicker than gunning them down the whole way, also knowing that heroes like sombra, mei and road hog can almost completely counter you and it’s almost pointless trying to play ball into them
This guy had some great tips! I’m just gonna add 2-3 little things for new hammond players to learn as well, For the last tip, while it’s something people need to practice to pull off, the wall jump or even character jump (clicking the jump key/button the instant wrecking ball collides with a slightly sloped wall or any character)into pile driver is a great way to get off a pile driver and conserve your grapple. And this didn’t mention as one of the tips for new hammonds but,his minefield spread scales based off the height you deployed it on (the higher you are the more spread out they become and vice versa) and always try to piledrive immediately after you minefield! [Edit: for anyone not aware, the mines DO NOT stick to walls or ceilings (anymore). So in enclosed objectives (many control maps have this) you can go a little below the roof to have full effect and AOE while not having all your mines stick the ceiling.]
Another reason to pile drive after dropping mines is because it slightly pulls the enemies closer to your pile drive location (center of the minefield) and makes them less mobile, therefore harder to escape.
Not just a sloped wall but you can often hop off the highest point of the payload and get enough height to pile drive
@@alexcrowley2635 true, I haven’t played much hammond anymore after the 1 tank thing so I’m not sure about this 100% but besides the new one on circuit Royale, I am 100% certain all the other payloads are tall enough for this
Actual good tips on this one for newer players. Another one I would’ve liked to see is the defensive dive, returning to your supports to help deal with a diving dps and get quick heals to get flanking again
Only 60 seconds for shorts sadly but it allows me to really make sure each video has value and no bs like a lot of UA-cam content!
Trust there will be much more in future ❤️
I remember getting a POTG with Hammond and I immediately knew who I’d main.
Also, a Tip is try to get the jump on the enemy by out maneuvering them. Wrecking Ball’s role speed is faster, use that to your advantage. Only use the shield when you need to reload as you’re most vulnerable while reloading.
Mystery heroes nerd here, this one is extra helpful. No idea he reloaded while rolling.
I also think I could maybe add to this a bit with a little tip. Usually you see players rolling up high and ground slamming to attack, but I am finding I get a lot of value from him by grappling at ground level to push people out of position.
Also, his weapon range is crap but he can burst down a squishy really quick if you're close enough.
Im also a ball onetrick, agree with these, but you should always consider if you go to ballform for that reload or stay in walkmode to finish off your target, chasing sometimes is better in walkmode.
I don’t play over watch but your content is awesome! Keep it up!
Thank you car :)
Car is a respectful mf🫡
Honestly these videos are great I have a lot of friends who are new to overwatch and it's so much easier just to them one of your videos than just sounding like a madman trying to explain weird tech XD
Of course ❤️
A big tip I learned when playing Hammond was that adaptive shields should be an engagement tool not a disengagement tool
Ok but that little flip onto the platform was sick.
number 1: playing wrecking ball
A good wrecking ball can literally be a nightmare to kill, shows up harrasses the entire enemy team for a bit, kills a dps or two on his way out and leaves unharmed
Use your grapple to get to high ground then wait and use your piledrive after you've nearly got your grapple back to have an escape plan.
One bit of tech with Ball: if you're fighting on high ground and roll backwards off of thr ledge it'll detect you're high enough and allow you to piledrive back onto the high ground. I use it a lot when dueling.

3. Bad habits of playing Hammond
1. Playing Hammond
2. Thinking he’s a tank
3. Thinking that spinning on point is helping us win the game more then a shield tank would
Cant wait to see Echo.
Only watched this cause I love his "aerial denial" voice line he does when using his ult 😭 even if it's mid.
People really need this, as a ball player with 500 hours more people should learn his movements. When I’m in comp and people are always dying with ball and it just hurts 😭
Legit he should rarely die 😂
I think this was a good video, but I think you could include some things. You should be rolling through their team a lot. You get so much ultcharge and I you can get your enemies off position. If you are on a flank you don’t necessarily have to roll through them or slam the whole team. If you shoot their Ana so that she looks away from her tank or she nades herself the other tank can get melted and she doesn’t have a nade for her team. Hammond is such a good distraction and you can bait out ability’s so easily!
Pro tip: you can piledrive off of very low altitude object if you jump off of them. Ledges or cars in some maps are more than enough
Every time I see a wrecking ball on my team I know I’m gonna lose
Man's telling us to make the hampter do drivebys
1. You're playing Wrecking Ball
I think Roadhog should be able to swing like Hammond with his hook, he doesn’t have a movement option and he needs better positioning.
Learning techs will give a lot more options when playing hammond. Wall jumping is hard but always useful and bhopping to keep your speed works after grappling or getting booped. Additionally, you should look to hold your grapple when you boop a close enemy so you can also roll away or boop them again.
100% he’s a very mechanically inclined tank
And now we have unkillable balls that leave their team to die but whenever their team tells them to stop they say “I ain’t dying though.”
#4: Overdosing in the middle of a game
Wrecking ball: ❌
Hammond: ❌
Hamston: ✅
I just run around letting my teammates die as I’m a bait
Punishing slow front lines is more beneficial that targeting backine characters, as it leaves your DPS trying to take on a tank and two DPS, making space is more effective on basically all modes
Reloading tip, you can cancel the animation with a melee attack to both do damage and begin shooting faster
As a Ball main, these are biggest tips I can give are;
1.) You need great map awareness. Ball can be a nightmare if you know the best techs and tricks to getting around, but also, he’s a big boi who DPS love to shoot at. Even with his chonky health and adaptive shield, his best method to survive is running, grabbing a mega heal and rolling back into the action. He can be a real pain to heal, so this also takes the pressure off your supports. But with map awareness, learn every HP position and it’ll instantly improve your play.
2.) Focus supports. This obviously is pretty good for most characters, but Ball is not gonna go toe-to-toe with Ramattra, Hog or Horse. Piledrive absolutely wrecks most supports, forcing them to waste cool-downs or retreat. The Orisa on the frontline can do almost nothing if you can successfully hit and roll their supports effectively. Some supports are just utterly defenceless against Ball. Zen and Bap get absolutely faced by the Fireball+Piledriver combo.
Every bonk is a bad bonk but this is a exception.
With fireball grapple and learning the health pack locations on the map religiously, you basically don't need a healer anymore and constantly stay in the fight.
Additional tip: If the enemy team has an orisa, just don't play ball. Her javelin throw can cancel any momentum you gain and leaves you vulnerable, and her javelin spin can stop you from gaining any momentum early on. Additionally, a fortified orisa with a good healer and javelin spin can just run through your mines and tank the damage, which completely negates the ult.
As a wrecking ball main; you can pile drive off of any payload without using the grapple too
I think wrecking ball has such a fun kit. I used to play him in OW1, I like to use his grapple a bit like pathfinders in apex, normally use it to escape or to get back in the fight quickly from spawn.
I also love using the momentum to surprise a widowmaker who’s taken height, they are always so surprised when this giant balls lands on them 😅
bro's a rocket league ball with machine guns what a chad
I had this wrecking ball literally dive into a 1v5 over and over before we could regroup and catch up with him, then he would yell at the healers.
Any player with an iq over 20 knows they have to regroup before an attack. You were just playing with a stupid player whose probably complaining about being bronze while still making stupid plays, and he probably thinks he deserves a better rank too
I've been a ball main for a few years and I definitely have gotten more hate than you could imagine just for playing him. He has a very skilled hero whith a high skill ceiling, so not everyone can play him without playing miserably so the one you played with might've also not learned how to correctly play ball
@@jacoberb4459 I don't discriminate against anybody playing a certain hero, I just dont like when they play incorrectly as you said.
You should always let people have a chance playing whatever they want, you never know how good they are. People bashing you are just jerks. Reminds me of people getting mad within 0.1 seconds if you select widow before even letting you try.
@@chriscolbert2188I don't mean to bash this player, but regrouping before a fight is the very basics of this team coordinated game, therfore he just wasn't playing how the game is supposed to be played. Yes, he can play whoever he wants but he can't blame others for his mistakes is all I was meaning to say.
@@jacoberb4459 I didn't mean you I meant people that bash others just based off their selection pre game. You're definitely right that player was really bad and was in horrendous position. We couldn't heal him at all lol
I think at least in role queue he suffers a lot by being the only tank on the team if picked. So many of the preexisting roster weren't designed for 5v5 and the lack of one more person really hurts them, then take into account role queue as rhe now intended competitive section, they struggle even more.
First tip was oddly inspirational
Dying on Hammond? Yeah we don’t do that here
Your first mistake was picking Hammond knowing you’ll be the only tank lol
1 worst habbit of EVERY wrecking ball player: playing wrecking ball.
I love bullying that hamster.
Bro started playing a month ago now he’s making guides
I guess something else you can do would be to grapple up to some high ground, sit up there while you pepper enemies down below with chip damage, and once your grapple is almost recharged, you can roll off the edge for a good ol' groundpound.
All fair but the best tip for Wrecking Ball imo is that you go forward and up when you pile drive, before coming down. What this means is if you are duelling near a ledge, you can go slightly off the backwards and then activate pile drive to get an immediate cc, free damage and quick ult charge. Enemies in the air are easy to kill and it will usually throw off their sim slightly. If they’re already low it’s quick burst damage also.
3 bad habits of every new wrecking ball player
1. Playing wrecking ball
Quick tip for ball reload, you can actual animation cancel the reload by meleeing or swapping to ball form if you want even more speed
Number 1: playing wreckingball
I wish someone told me about the 2nd tip earlier, the amount of times I wasted time reloading and dying because of it is way too high
Agreed, my friends get mad at me when I play ball, I’m a good ball, I just can’t tank too many shots and so they lose their tank
One thing I usually find is that they usually wait heals from support when they're low. But you should use your mobility to get to healing packs instead
I saw this right after buying his gold gun and realised I already do all this. I think it was a good purchase 😌
Let’s goooo Congratz on the gold gun!

@@RauKnowsOW i hope its not gonna be toooo basic, but i will watch anyway
He’s a pretty crazy champion. Idk why people say he’s only average because he’s definitely best clutch hero
Bad habit number 1: picking wrecking ball
1. Playing wrecking ball
big tip is to steal healthpacks when low. it's one of the best strategies because of your large healthpool and drains their respurces
3 Bad Habbits of every Wrecking Ball
**Youre playing Wrecking Ball**
One note: learn wall jump if you want to play hammond. Such an underrated tech even if you cant pull them off consistently
Wasting the grapple. Where have I heard that before? 'Ahem pathfinder'
Additional benefit to playing from highground. If you time your Piledrive properly you can jump off a ledge, face the high ground you just left, and Piledrive back up. Much safer than trying to do it over death pits.
I'm not going to lie the in-depth detail of this video was next level you are much better at explaining OverWatch than Apex and that is not me being rude that's me being bluntly honest
ALWAYS ULT BEFORE U DIVE, BALLS
N4: choosing wrecking ball.
