Okay, but simply support doesn't not use that symbol in typical calculations. It only uses a triangle just like that hinged(pinned). There doesn't seem to be a clear/conventional symbol between the two although have different number of reactions.

Sir your videos are just for cramming before exams ..... why roller has a single reaction only and why hinges have 2 reactions that needs to be understood ... that should b the criteria of teaching

Take the example of door
1) when you open/close the door it is having horizontal movement that why horizontal reaction
2) You can move the door up and down when required during installation or repair so vertical reaction
3) So only two reactions for hinge support as u know doors are fixed to the frame with the help of hinges

Now for roller
Take the example of car it can move in one direction ie horizontal direction so only one reaction for roller.
2) Sencond example when you take out water from well using rope attached on wheel there is only movement of bucket in one direction ie vertically from well to u so roller having only one reaction

@@milindgupta8439Good example. But here is really why. Reaction is basically resistance. All supports will have vertical reactions due to its own weight (coz of gravity). So, 1 each for all. But,
In hinged(pinned), it's base is basically fixed though has no moment reactions due to the pivot movement, hence it resist horizontally. So, 2 reactions
In roller, it's base has wheels so it can't resist horizontally as it will move horizontally. Now, the free movement in both hinge and roller won't allow it to bend. So, no bending, no horizontal reaction, only vertical in roller. hence, 1.
