Would love to know what everyone's thoughts are on the current state of Instagram, and how you feel about an app like Grainery. Lemme know down below!

Instagram is a dumpster fire now, feels like TikTok knockoff. I like the idea of Grainery, I think they are shooting themselves in the foot only doing film, way too niche. Also, I am surprised they didn't make the background like medium gray. But looks dope!

@@VJIX agreed. Incredibly niche AND a paywall. Hopefully they innovate to make their offerings more appetizing to a larger market.

@@VJIX The guy who started it (I think his name is Kyle) made a video, not too long ago, saying that eventually he’ll open it up to digital photography, the question is just the matter of when.

Way too many reels and it filled with non relevant ads - photography is an after thought since you can't fully control aspect ratio, camera gears etc. I will try out the app you mentioned 📸

Thanks for the video 🙏🏼A little funny with this App. Only for film, but the time you upload your picture it had become digital 😂

I was a long time film photographer (just an amateur) for over a decade during my 20s and remember a time when my friends would poke fun at me for still using film. I got into film when I was 16ish right when digital cameras were becoming the rage (I am an ancient 36 years old now). People would love reminding me that film was dead/dying, not necessarily being mean-spirited about it but just sorta thinking I was silly. I never really believed them, though, because I was tuned into the burgeoning film revival community at the time and I knew it was safe, even if it was still niche back then. I'm glad to see content like yours, film gear reviews and whatnot...
That all being said, I'm pretty out of the loop (just for personal/burnout/depression reasons, I stopped kind of taking photos or making art) so learning about an Instagram-like app for film photography is almost WILD to me, especially recalling all the "end times" talk about film back in the day LOL. I love it, though. I'm glad that people appreciate the slower mode of film photography. I'm gonna check out this app, even though I'm generally social media averse.
As an edgy younger kid I used to talk shit about digital photography (LOL) mainly just reaction to all the 'film is dead' type of talk, but I've done some digital photography and enjoy it as its own thing so I'll be happy to see Grainery open up for that format as well.

these app startups are a dime a dozen but I really hope this one makes it because there is really no hope for photography on instagram since facebook took overall

Agreed. If this app doesn’t hit, I really hope an even more solid app comes out down the road.

For sure! Honestly I think it’s coming, there’s no way this app will survive without including digital photography

even tho im a videographer, I love taking pictures and I feel like when I post them on IG, not only do they not push or care about it but the ppl that follow me that are interested in my pictures wont even see them .

I don't think I am ready for a buggy paid app yet....so that being said, have you seen the Vero app yet...pretty photo friendly with a real community vibe! Love your recent uploads, screams summertime, the carnivals are the best they show emotion in the shots, and the last one, the water game is my all-time favorite midway game!

I have Vero but I haven’t really dived into it yet. Not really a fan of how it’s laid out. And thank you! Trying to take advantage of the summer while it’s still here!
