    I lived in Umalas for 3 years. Loved it. Never experienced any crime .. very peaceful and central to everything. I never used short cuts in Bali as I drove a car not bike.

    I do not want to be mean, but in the 1990s many indonesians arrived in malaysia to work in construction and plantation. Some are legal, some are not. There were many house break-in and robberies. I remembered that well. Many robbery gangs from indonesia were gunned down as they dare to challenge the police with guns and machetes. They killed locals of course with weapons. It was a very sad decade of crimes. We thought they just came over for work earning an honest living. Nowadays more bangledeshis are recruited instead of indonesians. They are more law abiding.

    Pretty much all the areas in Bali are the worst for living, very low grade buildings, roosters in yards, untrained dogs in yards barking all night, street dogs. New (very bad) constructions going up on every piece of spare land, dangerously dumb drivers on the tiny roads with no regard for basic common sense traffic rules. Sound systems blaring out of villas or people's gardens. Pollution in the rivers. Trying to get the most basic of tasks completed is like fighting an uphill battle as far as cooperation with a local is needed. The rent is way overpriced compared to better developed places in Thailand or Vietnam for example. Overcrowded beaches. Street sellers hassling foreigners left right and centre. The list goes on. If you can jump in a car and get away then you might get a nice day out but as a place to actually live it's just a nightmare unless you can afford to buy 10 acres of land and build a house to the standards of developed nations away from the constant bullshit of other peoples general disregard for the peace and quiet for other people.

    Which is better canggu, ubud, uluwatu or perhaps north of the island far away from those busy towns?

    • @jayandalina
      @jayandalina  2 роки тому

      Better for who? Not everyone can live in the city and not everyone can live in the countryside. It depends.

    • @HenryTravelPal
      @HenryTravelPal 2 роки тому

      depends on what you want. If you want a party life and be around foreigners, canggu is your best bet. Crazy traffic though, stayed there before the borders fully opened and was fine but recently its now just a mess. Uluwatu is less crazy, not as many bars or clubs but still pretty popular, not as crazy traffic. Ubud is rainy and away from beaches so take that into consideration. You can walk there though and don't really need a scooter, I think its nice for a week or so. North is more islolated and offers a real local experience imo, just less western goods which can be good. Sanur is my favorite though. Chill, no traffic, can walk everywhere and beach nearby.

    I find it a bit worrying. Since you2 left Bali you posted several videos about how unsafe the island is. Less than a year ago Bali was the best place to live in according to one of your videos. What are you trying to do? Keep up the clicks? Does Latvia has the best food, best weather and best people? Is it a country without crime? Never mind a response, I’ve been to Bali several times and visited all Baltic states as well.
    Something is wrong here.

    • @jayandalina
      @jayandalina  2 роки тому +1

      Since we left Bali we posted 1 video about 1 area in Canggu to be very careful with, due its recent high crime. The rest of the videos are cuts of the same video. What is wrong here is your ability to understand this.

      Mr van bueren, the things discussed in this video are true. If you don't believe it, read the forums... they are full of safety/crime complaints from tourists of various nationalities ... While addressing their home country like this sounds mean, only a really stupid person could write something like this.... "Never mind a response"

    Bali, to be given the recognition as the island of the gods....it must remove the shackles of the worst aspects of government control. To continue to insist that all people both local and tourists abide by questionable medical standards will create the heavy anchor of mediocrity and will slow the economy and frustrate and demean the god of abundance. Trust has taken a severe blow and the turnaround speed is in the hands of futuristic courageous leaders not in the lap of the gods.

    sudah seharusnya jalan di bali di perluas...bener2 sulit dan kadang membuat kesal bahkan buat pribumi...pemerintah pusat dan kota harusnya peka, karna itu keluhan yg bnyak dari turis lokal dan mancanegara, dan bnyak turis yg ingin tinggal lama di bali.

    These robbers are called begal.
    They would sometimes wield huge knives, I even heard that they don't think twice about chopping your hands off, if you don't let go of your belongings.
    Sorry about the incompetent police force in Indonesia.
    They are truly a disgrace and about 100% of them are corrupt.
    I wouldn't be surprised, if they get regular "smooth operation fee" from the begal themselves.

You and your members only drive on mean motorbike paths in Umalas as most part freaks doing and are surprised to become a target of criminals and creating the traffic jam yourself. Oh my dear, just go inland and visit the real Bali and meet the local places and people instead of adding ridicules videos.
