Gonna be real, I don't think the artists are as big of a piece as people think. Top artists can just be omitted but you can use lower level artists who'll jump at the opportunity and it'll be great marketing. You won't get Jay but you could get Big Sean. yeah too much risk not enough reward. negotiating with dozens of rappers would be annoying AF. Fighting games are niche now and do not sell well. The online player base would suffer the same fate as most fighting games, A skill gap will be created and 20% will stay and get better and the other 80% will be like "fuck this shit these niggas kicking my ass".
CNN MOP "Stomp" and Joe Budden's "Walk with Me" went so hard on Def Jam Fight for NY soundtrack. THats what made me a fan of Buddens music when I was a kid lol.

@@ghostcoyoteproductions Vendetta was still a great game. Highly underrated Pro-Wrestling game. Originally, it was supposed to be a WCW game, but WWF/E bought WCW. So, they made a wrestling game with rappers.
It's easy to buy a copy of DJV at a pretty inexpensive price, I own it. FFNY is a completely different story.
People who emulate may have it easier. To own the physical disc though, FFNY ain't cheap.

No bullshit, Joe had the best finisher in Vendetta. IIRC it was like a combo that ended in a stunner and me being a big Stone Cold fan at the time, all you had to tell me was one of the rappers in the game used the stunner and I was copping it😂
I agree. And for me personally, Lil Flip had the best finisher in FFNY. Still surreal that we even had games like that in the first place. Where we can play as so many different rappers

There were so many guys with better finishers than Joe Budden on Def Jam Vendetta, including the default characters.
Even the default characters we used in Story Mode had better finishers than him.

It’s because we let ourselves be won over with realistic graphics and not much else. I remember playing splinter cell and being able to do the van damn splits in a hallway to hide from people and now the majority of stealth games are just hide in a bush and cheese the AI.

How can you say that? To say there isn’t variety is just you not paying attention. There’s more variety than ever now plus there’s new genres of gaming that didn’t even exist back then like rogue likes and souls style games. Hell we just had one of the biggest years ever in gaming in 2023

Def Jam Fight for NY was one of the greatest fighting games EVER. The character roster was crazy. I was wondering back then how they got all those rappers. It's sad that a remake wouldn't happen cause of greed, knowing that damn near everybody would buy that game on release. The only way this game get made is if were a damn pay wall like Injustice. You simply buy the rappers you want. $3 a rapper and $1.50 of that goes to the artist. So your popularity defines how much cut you receive.

@@PontFlair see everyone says that, but I remember beating the breaks off of Crack when I played FFNY. Honestly the entire story mode was a cake walk except for two fights. Those being the one where you have to fight with Method Man after he gets jumped and Crow aka Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg's scrawny self had the highest strength and Endurance stats as all the other fighters and still somehow had the best speed and stamina stats. Fighting him was aggravating.

If they bring the franchise back, in NO WAY would it resemble Def Jam FFNY. There wouldn’t be a ‘gang war’ involved, it wouldn’t be a gritty streets of NY hood theme, and the fighting would be a lot less ‘dramatic’ (slow motion finishers, gratuitous violence, etc). You don’t want a new Def Jam.

What's crazy is Def Jam Fight For New York's ending song, "Walk With Me" made me a Joe Budden fan. Crazy they put one of his best songs on a fucking video game and he's been drowned under the weight of Pump It Up when his real skill is the introspective dark shit.

They need to bring back Def Jam Vendetta AND Def Jam Fight For New York because they have ALOT of updated video capture equipment nowadays with no old equipment to video capture for PS2 and regular old Xbox… I’ve been trying different recording equipment I brought for months and none worked… but New gen consoles have natural video capture… I’m A BEASTTTTT at both games so I wanted to record and put on UA-cam but I can’t currently until they remake/remaster these games for NEW GEN CONSOLES… PLEASEEEEEE DO THIS😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I LITERALLYYYYYY prayed for months for these 2 games to be released to New Gen consoles like the PS3.. The problem is there isn’t enough black game developers, the tools are mostly free and the information is out there. We should in hiphop encourage more artworks into the medium and raise a generation of technology creators alongside everything else. Same I’m wrong?
