Go on EA's instagram to see comment sections full of skate 4 requests. This has been going on for about a year now, and I was surprised when skate 4 wasn't announced at E3 this year.
Even after all this time, I truly wonder about the legality of this one. If the IP is owned by EA, I doubt they would be too happy to learn that a random UA-camr and an ex-employee asked for $500k on Kickstarter to create something that didn't belong to them in the first place. Like, say that they actually succeeded in raising that. That means they are essentially making money on EA's intellectual Property, even IF they could undeniably prove that every cent went back into the demo they planned to present to EA; and there's no way they wouldn't pocket a lot of that money if they DID meet their goal in a hypothetical universe. The whole thing just seems highly illegal to me - at minimum you would think this would be copyright infringement, and they would have been issued a cease and desist even IF they didn't make money on it. Naturally, I'm not a lawyer, but it just seems shady to me beyond the normal BS that comes with these Kickstarters.
Really tho, I'm pretty sure they're uninformed in how these things work. They could make a skateboarding game but they really want to make a Skate demo. But the project looked lackluster anyway with empty Unity screenshots, the PayPal donation button is really sketchy considering they want funding too.
