    "Pigs are flying" isn't negative towards the big guy. It's based off the saying "when pigs fly" meaning its a very rare, almost impossible feat. Such as "I'll win the lottery when pigs fly".
    And not only did he hit a triple (the single hardest hit to get in baseball), be batted for the cycle, which means he hit a single, double, triple, and homerun all in the same game. It's almost unseen in baseball.

  • @kevinb314
    @kevinb314 3 роки тому +4

    The first baseball one is an overweight but much loved and skilled Pitcher, hitting a Grand Slam as his first home run. Pitchers only bat in half of the league, and its usually an automatic out.
    In Basketball (and most sports) its Super hard to be coordinated when you're like 7' tall, so big guys almost never shoot 3s
    Chara is 6'9" and I think the tallest player in NHL? Its a custom to throw your hats on the ice when a home-team player scores 3 goals (known as a hat trick)

    To really appreciate Bartolo Colon's home run, you need to watch a highlight video of him hitting. He was hilariously bad, knew it, and would play on it to the crowd.. He'd swing really hard.. miss the pitch by a mile.. his helmet would fall off.. sometimes he swung so hard he'd fall down.. I remember being in the stadium when he got a standing ovation for a foul ball and he tipped his cap to the crowd!! We LOVED him in New York when he played for us and that was a huge part of why!
    "His first career home run!" he was 42 years old!!
    And notice the ovation he got when he hit his home run.. over 3000 miles away from his home ballpark! He was on the visiting team!

    Just to explain, Bartolo Colon is a Pitcher, it's not often in Baseball any pitcher hits a home run. I was at the Keith Trailer game, he "WAS" trying to give the ball to someone else. That' was a fun fun time. Height in Hockey isn't always an advantage, 6 foot hockey players isn't common. NBA centers normally DO NOT shoot from the outside. Since the Average height of an NHL player is well over 6 feet and so many teams out there will tell you they need more team height on defense it's hardly note worthy this guy is in the video at all. Chara's story is one of overcoming handicaps and finding his place in the world. Chara, born with the affliction of tall bone structure always dreamt of being A Jockey in the Kentucky Derby. Through his childhood and adolescence nary a moment passed when he wasn't out on the frozen ponds... on horse back...practicing his bridle skills for the try outs. When he was of age he attended Jockey School in Lexington learning how to lean down for better wind resistance, when to move the horse outside or in, what supplements wouldn't show up in a urine test for the horse, but his trainer saw the writing on the wall. He pulled Chara aside and said "son, i don't think this is going to pan out for you, you are not the body type to be a Jockey, your just too tall like Will Ferrel in Elf. Chara broke down in tears upon the news of this. Determined to make his mark on the world he canceled his membership to the lollipop guild and searched for his place amongst society. He first tried American Football , but at his height they'd only let him punt and he hadn't the leg for it. Chara then tried auto racing but he couldn't reach the peddles or see over the dashboard. Finally he went to Calgary and saw for the first time Theo Fluery. Chara was awestruck at the physique. It then became clear that his true calling where the NHL. No longer would he stand out, he'd finally be amongst the true skyscrapers of sports, in the NHL.
      I wasn't even supposed to be hear today.

    Bartolo Colon is a pitcher and they rarely hit homeruns so it was extra special for him because he's perceived as "unathletic".

    When you are 7 feet tall or have over a 7 foot wingspan your hand is sooo far away from your eye. Coordination is really hard at that height so they cant shoot deep. Prob wayy further from the hoop than you think. Camera playing tricks
