The Beatles - Now And Then (Cover) - Played Like The Early Beatles!

This is my interpretation of what the "final" Beatles song "Now And Then" would sound like if it was an early Beatles tune featuring Fake Ed Sullivan!
Upon hearing the new release of the song, I could hear a little bit of an early Beatles melody in there as it reminded me of the melodies and chord progressions on "I'll Be Back Again" and "Anytime At All." So, I decided to have a little fun and take this song into a time machine and see what would happen. The video is a result of this and I truly hope you'll enjoy and have fun with this one!
Also, I'd like to thank Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr for finishing and releasing such an epic song! I know that John and George would absolutely love it. Thanks Paul, Ringo, and everyone involved with your new song, and in case you're watching this video, I hope you'll enjoy and have a laugh with it!
Thanks for tuning in, subscribe for more! 🔔
Phenomenal is the word! I know this young man personally. The video you are watching is all handmade, one person doing it all with limited equipment but immense talent and love for people and for his work. All the characters, the instruments, the voices, the music editing, the audiovisual editing, the lighting, the set, and the idea is all one person doing it LIVE in only FOUR hours. No AI and no other assistance. So thank you dreamerjazz352 for sharing your talent and your love for music, and bringing joy to so many around the world.❤

Its just fantastic.
Make sure Paul and Ringo do see this! It's a gem. The song benefits from being played in Beatlemania style. I've listened again and again. Well done!
How does he make sure Paul and Ringo see it?
@@esspeez I was kinda joking as someone else had said this must happen. We can but hope.. it's brilliant.
@@henryhemming1494 it is. I agree entirely

It's kind of surreal how perfectly you capture the tone of 1963 to 1964 beatle era music.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! And also Paul learned to play right handed.
GREAT JOB!!!!

He could have mirrored the video 🤷
@@DaveD2000 well, obviously one should only mirror the paul video clip and not the others 😅

Brilliant! I’m a soon-to-be 73 year old original Beatlemaniac who witnessed the Beatles” first appearance on Ed Sullivan in Feb 1964. I have remained and ardent Beatlemaniac ever since (my Maryland license plate is “BEATLE”). Clearly you appear much too young to have experienced Beatlemania first hand yourself, and it is a credit to your creativity, talent, attention to detail and shear capturing of the phenomenon that was Beatlemania. Astoundingly good. Excellent production, start to finish, and in an amazingly short time frame. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I absolutely LOVE IT!
Wow, I feel honored to have an original Beatlemaniac enjoying my video! Thanks for sharing that about yourself, that's really cool!
Amazing Reimagining of the new Beatles 'Now and Then'. My pen-pal and I like this one better... So Fun!
Exactly my thoughts about this video, (except for my license plate). I, too, was 12 and watched that Sullivan show. PS I like this version better than the real one, which I didn't like very much at all.
@@avlisk I totally agree with you. As far i can tell the official version has a lot influence from the late Paul , who somehow since the 80s always brings some sad tone into the songs. Lennon is much more melodic and happy (and when they both were alive and composed together, they perfectly fit to eachother). Now sure, Lennon also had some sad tunes (''I didnt mean to hurt you'' ) ... But when it comes to the Beatles itself (and ''Now and Then'' is supposed to be a Beatles song) , we all remembered Beatles for this old 60s style. Therefore i also much more like this version of dreamerjazz352 much more. So much more, that i am think that AI could replace the voice of dreamerbazz352 with the voices of the Beatles-members and it would sound even more like them.
I am not sure wether dreamerjazz352 realizes what an amazing work he had done ! He really did!
@@PygmalionFaciebat I don't think there is any need to replace dreamer's vocals - they are excellent and spot on. I know that's not what you meant - I know you were just wondering if the song could be made more Beatle-esque.
Love how you even captured Ringo's body language
its shocking how well it fits.
I think it also lays bare that 'now & then ' is a pretty ordinary song
Upbeat like their early music. It is missing the emotional feel of the released version. Interesting though.
@@vincentl.9469I think many believe that including me, but I like it anyway.
@@Skedawg88 yes , and in general not everything they put out was 'great' but people think you shouldn't say so because it's them ! their first hit, 'Love me do' is crap i.m.o ; I've never liked it ..
@@vincentl.9469it’s quite mid, yeah. If it weren’t marketed as the final new Beatles after many years it could’ve easily been a forgotten B-side
You nailed everything on this. Like, the sound of every instrument, the tone of their voice and harmonies, the intro, even the uniquely specific ways each Beatle moves while performing. So so impressive, well done!!
Thank you! I'm very glad to hear your feedback on all the details!
@@dreamerjazz352 why do you have a ringo emogi

And where do you get Sgt. Pepper costumes so quickly??
@@scribe570 I've had those Pepper costumes for a long time lol.
This is genius. Wonder if Paul and Ringo have seen it. Totally fab !!!
That would be a dream! You never know, maybe they already have lol. Paul's like, "ay, who's this bloke?" 😄
Doubtful.
They will definitely see it eventually!
Honestly I don’t even hear the other one any more, I hear this. Sometimes when I wake up this version is playing in my head.
Just want to qualify- I really like the reworked JL song just released by Paul Ringo and the estates; I always think of the 3 reworked Lennon demos as "The Beatles*" and not "The Beatles". It's not perfect, but it doesn't have to be. Hearing Paul's wonderful bass on a tune from Lennon is just exquisite. While I wish I could hear Paul's young voice mesh with his, that's gone forever, and his old man singing is very poignant. It's really lovely. And I'm not saying a 1-man band reimagining of the song as a 1964 version is technically better, it's not of course, but it's showing how a song and melody written in 1978 is really not far removed from what he and Paul were writing in 1963 and 64 and can stick in my ear almost the same as, say, Eight Days A Week or This Boy. You've really done a stellar job doing this, and obviously had a lot of fun as well. Congrats on almost hitting 150k views on this, you deserve it.
Which you like more? original or this version.
find all 3 John demo Beatles songs to be a lot better when played at 1.25 speed. Try it!
This song is sooooooo underrated.
Not only was this amazing, but you made the whole thing so quickly, it's unreal how impressive the entire video is
Im an old 61 year old Beatles fan, this is awesome! You’ve done an excellent job and so quickly after the official release. Thankyou!
I'm an even older fan and it's really rather amazing.
Me and you and Love Me Do have the same age too.
This is very well done. Just leaving a comment for the algorithm 🙏

The phrasing, the harmonies, the runs, wow. This is so perfect. Thank you for taking the time to do this!
THANKS! Very creative and fun.
😃 Here's the thing. What you did, just goes to show how any Beatles song can be covered in so many ways, and your version was GREAT! You even have all their stage movements down, with Lennon kneebends, Paul rockin, George sly movements and strums, and the Ringo head shakes The Beatles opened the door for anyone to become a musician, and their songs/music will be played in perpetuity. Thank you. 😍
How has this not blown up already???
Thank you for this. It's great to have a new Beatles song but sad at the same time. This is a really wonderful tribute. Thank you.

This works surprisingly well as a 1964 Beatles-esque arrangement!
Exceptional.I'm a scouser in my seventies and I saw the Beatles in the original Cavern in '62. I think they would have been proud of this production. With basic equipment, you've produced something that is at least as good as what Giles Martin and Peter Jackson constructed with their cutting edge audiovisual technology. In some ways, your version is better.Well done!
Wow, I have no words to express how awesome that is! That's just too cool you're from Liverpool and have seen The Beatles in the Cavern, wow! Thank you for your feedback, I very much appreciate hearing that. I've always taken inspiration from how The Beatles recorded Pepper. It was all done using a 4 track recorder. While I do appreciate the amazing technology we have these days, I feel more creative when I have simpler technology to work with. Thank you!
@mibackful, I have a favour to ask of you .. could you describe what they were like in the Cavern ? I am so envious of you, that you saw them in their Cavern days ...
@@tjcint Hi there,
I saw them before Ringo joined, replacing Pete Best and before Brian Epstein smartened up their appearance.
They were pretty rough looking; old leather jackets, tatty blue jeans,Elvis hair cuts. They had the Marlon Brando/James Dean look..rebels without a clue!
Their music was rough too. Quite tight, but not very professional.Stopping and starting songs, eating on stage, banter with the crowd.
The old Cavern was a death trap...a basement with condensation running down the walls and no real escape if there was a fire.
Still, it was all very exciting and a welcome relief to some of the drab music on the radio back then.
There's a You tube video with them playing "Some other guy", in the old Cavern, you may have seen.Ringo has replaced Pete and Epstein has tidied them up,but you can still feel their charisma below the less than smooth performance.
Hope tis helps!
@@mibackful Thank you so much for this ... I am particularly interested in John Lennon. What was he like ? How did he come across ?

Abseloutly phenomenal. The music, editing, and presentation. Thank you for making this ❤️
I hope Paul and Ringo get to see this. It is a very great tribute to the beatles and to the new song. It certainly captures the early Beatles feel! Great video.
Wow! You are amazing! Even though the demo has been out a while, the fact that you did this when the "new" song came out is truly a wonderful feat. Great job on the music and editing!
Thank you, I appreciate hearing that! The demo helped me get the melody and mood of the song, then the official release gave me the rest. I also really love the official release, I'm really proud of Paul and Ringo for making Beatle magic once again!
Wow! This arrangement really works!
I love how you made their final song into their first song. Brilliant!
Lol, I didn't think of that, but now that you pointed it out, it is pretty cool!

This is wonderful
All I can say is: How do some people come up with and carry out such clever ideas?
I can completely see this song being a hit in ‘64 with the Merseybeat twist!
true
Exept for Paul being right handed its perfect.😂🎄🇬🇧
Really captured that 1964 sound! Great rendition.
Wow man! This is brilliant! My favourite version of the song so far, I like it much more than the demo and the 2023 Beatles version. Your recreation of the 1963 sound of the Beatles is very good. The way Ringo closed his hi-hat for the chorus is spot-on. Amazing job, congratulations!
Yes IT IS #1 ......... !!!!!!!!

Absolutely FAB!!! You are amazing!!! Hoping Paul and Ringo hear this and comment! I actually prefer this to the original Beatle version! You have captured their early style perfectly! Thank you so very much!!
This works and as an upbeat-tempo early Beatles production, it would have charted as a single that year, too. The bridge is perfect... as Beatle-sounding as any early hit. Splendid job!
Damn! You 100% nailed that! John, Paul, George, and Ringo would be amazed! I am a harsh critic and you just got it perfectly right! Brilliant!
Bravo! Thanks for imagining and building this, it was fantastic.

PS: I also dig your "Come together" cover. Very funny Great sense of humor !
This is great. I was just thinking about how this song doesn't really sound like a Beatles song, in the same way that Real Love and Free as a Bird didn't either, because they sound like John Lennon songs produced by Jeff Lynne with other Beatles members playing on them, but I guess it's really all in the production.
Pretty amazing you pulled this off so quickly!
To me it tends to highlight how little John's style changed over the years. When I first heard the official release my thought was "this sounds just like a Lennon song...not The Beatles" - then I found this arrangement and, wow. So little changed besides tempo and instrumentation and BAM, what I thought was "just a Lennon song" turned into a true Beatles tune. Pretty cool.
That was my main problem with the Anthology songs you mentioned, I love ELO but Lynne shouldn’t have been let near a Beatles track.
OMG the John stance, the body language, so great! Good sound too!
Uncredible! It’s a great pleasure to hear the Song this way! And yeah: it fits!! Thanx
Absolutely amaziiiiiiinggggg
I don’t usually comment but this is sooo good. You can really see the thought and time you put into each part to get that old Beatles sound, not to mention the accurate body movements for each of them like Paul’s bopping. Great job man this is really impressive
I have been obsessed with this version. Good job. Enjoy the little single lead lines.
Didn't know I needed this until you made it -- bravo!
I’m 71. I was 11 when i watched the Beatles live on Ed Sullivan. I remember it like yesterday. You totally nailed this, including Ed Sullivan. Very enjoyable. Thank you.
Thanks for being an original Beatles fan!
That's so creative!! Good one!!
Wow, man, this is great! I keep thinking how it shows that Lennon's songwriting style didn't change that much over the years really...it was more the production and arranging that changed. Also, makes me picture how he originally wrote Help slower and how it was upbeated for the recording. Again...great job; one of the best versions of an early Beatles style since The Rutles in my opinion.
Amazing job! I hope Paul and Ringo see this! Who would have thought that it would translate so well to an early Beatles style recording!
Wow, you've really revealed something here! You would think the song is strictly late development Lennon, but you've shown that the feel was there from early on. That melody could have been on an earlier album and fit right in. Great!
Yes exactly! I heard early Beatles in John's melody, even beyond the slower tempo. It's John, there's always early Beatles in his melodies, they're hidden deep in there. Thank you!
Thanks! FAB idea. Well executed. Bless your heart.

This one will always be my favorite version - I keep coming back to it...
John Lennon made some crazy experimental music, but spent his last couple of years in the Beatles, and then the rest of his life, talking about how he wanted to get back to real rock and roll. I feel like this song sums up what he was aiming for. And this recording demonstrates perfectly that he never lost the connection.
Magnificent, A perfect rendition! An official Beatles song that sounds like this version is I'll Be Back off the Hard Days Night Album. Had the melancholic feel but also the energy of their early rockers!
