Great review! I definitely over-do it with boot insulation… even my early season boots are insulated. I agree 100% the arctic shield boot covers work great, but they are bulky to carry, and hard to put on. I’ve been thinking about taking some scissors to them to trim them down to something similar to the old Hotmocs. Thanks for the boot review!

    Buea,
I know venomous snakes are indeed scary! However take it from a bfe living sw va mtn runner wood trottin dude like myself 25yrs deep in big woods it's not a real valid concern. 1st the numbers are not big enough that it's a concern with timber rattlers " our only worry" being app fellas. 2nd damn copperheads are very small and idc of the stories,if ypu encounter one it'll be sub 30" and at biggest thumb sized and running away! 3rd that's it for concerns from swva to Maine and I've ginseng hunted, deer hunted, grouse hunted, turkey hunted and with a go as far as it takes in Cumberland mtn range at times 10miles per 20 plus days consecutive ginseng hunting. I've seen 1 copperhead and 1 rattler walking in the wood several more 4 wheeling. Stepped within 3" of a 13 rattler n button it rattled I freaked lol then caught it so I could shoe my dad then released her ignoring my dad's plea to kill it. I'd fight his ass over killing a snake that beautiful in it's house! Point being imo encounters very rare atleast for me and ginseng grows the biggest in em if ya can pick up what I'm laying down! Lol just incase some of yall actually worry with it! BTW outside of a bite hitting artery, neck, face with ol timber you have no worry anyway as long as you go to doc within a day or two preferably within 24hr. Basically it takes a bite in a place that swelling could suffocate you to kill you. Round here dudes be pentecostal, get bit suffer it out for a month without going to doc and never ever die. 1 lady got bit in face suffocated 8hrs later at hospital that somehow dropped the ball so bad her family got acouple milly! Look it up I wouldn't Josh yuns! Then the copperhead it's not lethal,it's not a worry,it's hardly big enough to bite over crocs! Lol if one was movie time on ya step in stride right on over it's Lil ass

Great video. I hunt in an area in upstate NY where traction is very important. Do boot manufacturers give a rating to the traction on their soles?
