Joseph Gross Gallery is proud to present Unfazed, the momentous U.S. debut solo exhibition of Toronto & Montreal based artist, Callen Schaub.
The works for this show will be created with his signature paint trapeze during live performances held in our Los Angeles gallery. Unfazed represents Schaub’s unwavering mentality while dealing with heavy polarizations between his greatest supporters and critics. While many praise Schaub’s innovative paint trapeze method of painting, there are also many who troll his artworks by spouting negativity. This new collection represents the importance of staying true to yourself; not letting positive or negative praise distract or deter from the long-term goal.
About Callen Schaub
Callen Schaub is an abstract artist working with paint, natural forces, and machines in an innovative way to produce bold and thought-provoking contemporary artworks. With a growing performative practice, Schaub often creates his paintings live during public and private events. His performances revolve around his signature paint trapeze system which is custom built by himself. Schaub graduated from OCAD University in 2012.

I done an arts major at university, we all had a project to present to everyone.... the details were literally “paint something”.
For some reason I thought it would be funny to put paint up my bum and squirt it onto the canvas. The painting turned out great and I passed the assignment. It actually sold for $1800 at auction that the university held, which was the highest of the night (there were 50 other paintings)
Nobody knew I painted this with my bum.....

You should try some Floetrol or Elmer's Glue to make it flow a little thinner so there are no gaps in the paint flow. I enjoy watching you make beautiful art.

What's the machine called you use
It's called a spinart machine and it's been around for over 30 years. Kids made them in elementary school, this isn't art, it's just squirting paint on a spinning canvas, literally zero skill required.

What's the clear stuff sealer?
It’s a clear resin. So yes it creates a glossy seal. He said “shout out to art resin”
What colors does he use, are they acrylics?

Yes the paint I use is acrylic by Tri-Art.
