THIS is how I remember KTU. Long versions, mixes, songs that weren't st all mainstream pop disco. It was a magic era, those years that disco ruled. Sadly, homophobia, racism and AIDS destroyed it all, slmost overnight, though in NYC clubs stayed good till the mid 80s.
But what a time it was. I went out FIVE NIGHTS A WEEK, how did I do it? The club scene was beyind compare. Garrucci's (the insider name for the Garage) closed at noon on the weekends. I always stayed till the end. To this day, I am grateful for when and where I lived. And all of you lucky enough to have lived it too, know I SPEAK THE TRUTH!

As a 12 year old kid I listened to Ktu when it first aired to the last day. The radio was a big part of the day. No laptops

I was just thinking of a perrenial Paco feature, and I haven't found it here yet. He would play "Walkin' in the Rain with the One I Love" by Love Unlimited, and interact with the monologue in the intro, which was very smooth.

i lived in La at this time and back then i liked disco hits but not disco stations that played i guess club filler music. i never listened to kiis fm when it went disco in 1979 for a year . this was the number one station in new york then. i guess i had to be there.
as a 15yo used to go home at lunchtime from Emerson High in Union city to catch the midday mix!
