Abhi mai 10th class me hu and physics ka chapter light padh rahe hai jaha pe refraction of light samjhaya gaya hai (deeply) and waha pe mentioned tha ki light ki speed kisi denser medium me kabhi bhi vaccum me jo speed hoti hai, uska comparison nahi kar payegi! the answer is this: Scientists should work on every possible problem including cummunication before working on the engine that can travel faster than light. Secondly, they should calculate each and every meteorite which scientists think may come in crafts's way. Then It can be possible in just few years!
I will give just my thinking about the communication problem: we are travelling at light speed then time will stop for us hence all obstacles in path are noted earlier and then set the way or path line for travelling and move on

So basically I have a great interest in cosmic universe and I am a science believer but at some point I feel like science (physics) breaks it's own law like we have studied in CHEMISTRY named " Exception " , so the thing is I believe human kind will go very far like we'll do great but we couldn't do anything after doing this all stuff, again I would like to mention as you all know time travel is possible and according to Hindus story time travel is done by 2 human, but the problem is SOURCE, we don't have a source theoretically it sounds like fun or a amazing part of science fiction movie it is not possible to know all the things about space ,,,,,......

If we some how achieve the speed of light then we can go to any nearest black hole stay in there event horizon for a time and get back to our planet so by this process we can travel in future it's the second method to travel in future. As you know time is moving slow in event horizon of a black hole.
