Very informative video, Jon. For some reason this brought back memories of Texas. Good memories. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
good stuff...will keep an eye out for that problem as always thanks
Good job Jon, obviously it won't be as easy as tubeless if you get a roadside puncture but at least you can rely on it not to leak air all the time !..
Thanks for the valuable information, sir. One more reason for me to avoid KTM´s and the like.
thank you for the video. i guess it's only a mater of time before i will need to do this conversion on my ibex-800
hello there sir, good to hear from you... perhaps yo will be one of the lucky ones and not have any issues... thanks for watching... keep safe out there... :)
Thanks for sharing this video Jon. It’s a shame you had to do that but it seems like it was never going to be any good as it was from the factory 👍🇦🇺
Very informative video. With your rim tape being glued into place would that not be enough to continue to be tubeless? You make it look really easy changing tyres!
Excellent video, John. I suppose new silicone seals wouldn't hold up. Im hoping mine lasts a long time. I have 2400 miles, and so far, so good. It's disappointing to know this is something that could have been done better in the rim construction.
Enjoyed the video John. Check the post 2021 Moto Guzzi 80tt the spokes go to the outside. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
i have not had this problem yet but ive heard, so i went ahead and sealed the spokes on the inside of the wheels with 3m extreme sealing tape, its super sticky and thick stuff..my son has had his supermoto wheels sealed with this tuff for 6 years( 7800miles).. and no leak yet, plus you can remove the tape with a little heat, it doesnt leave nasty residue behind., plus the 4411N sealing tape is sticky only on 1 side so it wont stick to the tube. and its tough enough to run a tube over it..i used 1.5 inch on the front and rear but it needs to be trimmed on the edges.... i did the same on my old dr650 (20k plus miles ) its ran for years and never leaked either, butttt i always carried spare set of tubes just in case, on trips with the 800mt i will carry tubes as well, any plans on putting a delkevic on this one... i really wanna try one on mine....great vid boss
Hi Jon, Can you tell me the size tool I need to remove the front wheel on teh Ibex 800?? Any "process" to the removal such as leaving the fender on or does it need to come off.? You do a great job, head west and lets ride this fall. Dan
Hey there Dan, the front axle takes a 12mm Allen bit and the front fender does not need to come off... very easy to get the wheel off. Pretty much the same as most other bikes to get the front wheel off. Hope to see you out there soon... thanks for watching... :)
Hey Jon,
I noticed you had a Versys 1000 some years ago. I'm interested in the 2023 model and curious about your experience with it. It would see about 95% blacktop and 5% gravel/dirt roads going to trail heads and camp sites. In fact I'll be heading to your neck of the woods in June.
Hello there sir, good to hear from you... The Versys is a great bike for sure... I rode mine quite a bit on dirt roads and it did a good job. It was a very good bike to tour on as well... good wind protection and very comfortable for long days on the road... Also a lot of fun in the twisties... thanks for watching... :)
I'm wondering if it would make sense to put some silicone on existing seals when I change my tires. No leaking now.
Should have made a wide rim strip using a cut down 17" tube.
Hello, jon. Do you plan on doing a 10,000-mile review and breakdown on anything you've had to repair or replace and your opinion on it.
Good to hear from you sir, yes I probably will do a review when I get 10,000 or so on my Ibex. That won't be for a few months yet. If I have a problem with a bike I always talk about it on my ride videos. So far at 7500 miles I have nothing to report with the Ibex... thanks for watching... :)
Doesnt that fall under warranty ?
It's better to buy motorcycle with spokes outside of the rim, like a Voge DS900X? All the bikes with this type of spokes are loosing air?
Suzukis design on my2017? Vstrom xt 650 was the best I’ve seen so far for tubeless spoked wheels.
Hello there sir, yes my 2019 XT had those... bullet proof for sure... don't have to worry about a rock catching the protruding rim lip like the ones with the spokes on the outside edge of the rim... :)
Can you please check your cam lobes for expensive wear as the ktm equivalent of that motor is known for self-destruction/cam issues... hopefully, it's a non-issue and has been fixed
Hello there sir, Yes I will be doing a valve clearance check at the end of the season. The cam lobe issues were on the early 2019 and 2020 KTM 790's with engines built in the UK. I have not seen or heard of any reports of cam lobe failures on any CFMOTO built 790 engines thus far... thanks for watching... :)
That should be under warranty.
After putting the strips it wouldn't hold air for a tubeless ?
good to hear from you sir, no rim strips wont seal the rims air tight... they need tubes for that... thanks for watching sir... :)
What about CF Moto 800mt Explore? It has the same spoked wheels like this model?
Hello there sir, good to hear from you... if the explore uses these rims then it will have the same issues... no big deal to tube them but no more Tire Pressure Monitoring... thanks for watching.. :)
Good solution.. shame you had to do it though.
Good to hear from you sir... I knew when I bought the bike that I would be doing this... no big deal... thanks for watching... :)
Interesting that somebody thought it would be a good idea to put tubeless tires on a spoked rim. 🤪
Hey there Doc... there are tubeless spoked designs that work well... theses however ain't one of them... thanks for watching... :)
Interesting, I have a 2021 KTM 890 and a 2017 ktm 1090. They have different wheels than yours. They have thick rubber liners that fit tightly in groves around the wheel, not the o rings on the spoke nipples. I’ll see if I can find a picture of one to send you.
Hello there sir, good to hear from you... yes I would like to see the picture of those wheels... thanks... :)
@@ozarksbackroads5484 what’s your email address? I’ll send some pics of the liners I was talking about.
????
Always informative videos good sir👌
The Ibex 450 has tubeless rims but this time the spokes are on the outside of the rim😉
Good to hear from you sir, yes I believe they got it right this time... :)
I think you'll see the 450 in the dakar this coming January!!
