Danielle Dax's music is as fresh and exciting today as it was the day it was made, it doesn't date. Her cover of "Tomorrow Never Knows" is a stunner. A brilliant, multi-talented artist whose work only gets better over time. CHEERS

Toyah had a thing with Robert Fripp, they may still even be together, dunno. I first became aware of Danielle Dax when I was working as a DJ in the eighties and was sent three 12" vinyl singles in '85, '87 & '88. Loved 'em, still have those singles. I can remember doing a wedding reception near Twickenham (I'm from Greenwich) where all the guests kept requesting Danielle, which made me grateful for those singles. Only now have I become aware of her bigger career and it's good. Hope she's well.
What a wonderful interview of an utterly STUNNING, talented, beautiful woman! When I first saw this clip (on here, years ago) I was SO thrilled when she gave a graciously kind and generous nod to New Model Army's career at (roughly) 2:13. Love both. Sketched a large pencil drawing of Ms. Dax (from a tiny photo) when I was in high school once, still have it after all these years. Cheers for uploading what you did have of this interview, for those of us who were too far away, to enjoy... treasure.
Do not let the hair fool you- she's a genius. awesome songwriting, pours her heart into it . Plays a hell of a lot of instruments. Not unlike Prince, or dare i say it- Freddie Mercury? Any babe who can rise to the top is a kick ass force. Shit, she _sounds_ like Brian May.. Those of us who love her work, we are VERY aware of her.
Discovered her when I saw her open for Sisters of Mercy in San Francisco. A friend of mine and I were all "Hope she doesn't suck". 15-20 seconds in we looked at each other with a "DAMN" look. Great show! Went out and bought Blast the Human Flower the next day.
I just heard of this woman today. I was listening to a podcast, where the host always plays a song at the end of an episode. And it was Cat House. At that point, I knew I was going to enjoy her music.
I'd have loved to have seen her in the late 80's/early 90's. My friends used to freak out and run for the dance floor when the DJ played "Big Hollow Man".
I signed up for a youtube acct just to say that Danielle Dax IS NOT DEAD! Her myspace page is maintained by her longtime collaborator Karl Blake, who notes in the blog she was to do some performances in 2007 but became ill. He has posted updates since then. She is most definitely not dead, but awaiting rebirth in London. Anyone see any of her performances in 2006? (in the UK and France)
Just found out she did keyboard work on unicazurn's transpandorem album. And that album came out early 2017. Actually It may have been the Temporal bends album in 09 now that I think about it.
She always put me in mind of Strawberry Switchblade I think there are some parallels there, though I know they were also very different ( S.S. la-la-ed their way through their songs of darkness and despair ) They both however, tried to square the circle between art and commercialism and were caught between a rock ( should that be just rock ) and a hard place, the narrowness of the rock/pop audience and the narrowness of the rock/pop media/business. ( not to mention the tank top wearing..
She was in the group Lemon Kittens before going her own way. Saw her in Bradford in the late eighties, early nineties and got to meet her backstage afterwards. She became an interior designer and was on a TV design programme, forget the name, which she won!
I beg to differ. White Knuckle Ride is rather conventional (dare I say boring?) rock music. Check out Hammerheads and Pariah. It is this early, creative, unique stuff she produced that is testimony to her genius.

She's bloody great, I remember strong women role models like her and Lydia Lunch, Anja from Xmal Deutchland in the 80's.

I love how she raises her right eyebrow when she's talking seriously. Everything she does is beautiful.
