  • He collected shrapnels from Beirut during the civil war and turned them into masterpieces to show that the last word is not for war but for peace.
The Cultural Trip for grades S1 - S2 - S3 (College Mar Abda) to Shazaya (Shrapnel) Museum in Remhala on November 10, 2023.
When Charles Nassar was young, he watched his grandfather's house burning due to the civil war. His dream was to return to his village and rebuild what had been destroyed. He decided to collect shrapnels, symbol of death, ugliness, and division, and to turn them into artistic masterpieces that symbolize life, beauty, and brotherhood. Thus, he founded Shazaya, which means Shrapnel, in Remhala.
What we learned today: No matter how difficult the circumstances are in our lives and how great the wounds are, everything turns, by God’s grace and the hope within us, into goodness that others will rejoice in.
