I can't tell you how many times I've played this video! What a fun song that represents great times and wonderful memories! They just don't make music like this anymore.
my parents can't understand why i love listing to the music they listen to back in the day, and i keep telling them because it's actual music. It has meaning and it just sounds better. long live the 70's
I love this song so much. it's songs like this that keep me living in the past. I see no reason to put things like this behind me. I cannot understand how in the world it got so many dislikes. This is as "feel good" as it gets! !!
+Brigette Bridges You and I have something in common. Haven't heard this song in years and found it at goodwill just a few days ago and can't get it out of my mind. I want to go back to 1972. Just check out the genuine smiles. What happened to us.
+geraldcherney64 I'm not sure what happened but I'm not too happy about it. ..lol. I too would like to go back. my magic year was 1975. The perfect year, if only life could be so simple again. I would gladly give up all the technology, new cars and the rat race we know today to go back and love the rest of my life in the 70's. ;-)
+geraldcherney64 oh absolutely! People are always making fun of me for like David Cassidy. ..lol I think I love you has always been my favorite. What about Seattle by Bobby Sherman? .....lol
That song came out when I was a little kid, and I remember calling it "The Grumpy Man Song" since Mr. Mouth sounded like he was yelling during the refrain. Funny to see it again almost 40 years later.
i was 12 when i heard this song in 1972 it was good to finnaly see what mouth and mcneal looked like shame on ed sullivan for not having them on his show tks sooooo much for song
I listened to a replay of Casey Kasem American Top 40 a few days ago from June 25, 1972. This was climbing the Top 40 and headed for the Top 10 and would peak at #8. Before even hitting the US charts, the song sold 4 million units in the Netherlands.
I was a 12 year old back in the summer of '72. Believe me kids, this was a mighty big hit. It was like a catchphrase, sort of like Don't Worry Be Happy. This longer version with the tradeoff vocals at the end didn't make AM radio in New York but it was a huge hit nonetheless.
find and find this song and finally found. It sounded in my head since chilhood and did not know who he was. Technologhy was very precarious in argentina in 1972 and had only one radio at home.Iam very happy ¡viva internet!
pasan los años y al volver a escuchar esta hermosa cancion vuelvo a ser un lolo(teen ager) pese a que ya soy un viejo mas en el mundo ,pero me quedan los recuerdos y lindas canciones como esta.
I still love this song, it does take me back to being 10 years old and in love with little Joanne Wiley. Having said that, this is a prime example of early 70's pop schlock. With folks like Lobo, Gilbert O'Sullivan, The Starland Vocal Band, Sweet, The Hudson Bros and Albert Hammond, we were swimming neck deep in schmaltzy pop. It was wonderful.
I was 5 years old when this song came out. My aunt used to play the 45 when she didn't have her 8 track (man, to remember THOSE things ;D) ! My fiance plays this for me and laughs because he said he was old (12) when this song was a hit...LOVE THIS SONG
I remenber - almost 40 years, seems to me like yesterday. This clip is from the german TV-Show "Disco". A good song has no time, I am sure it would do it nowadays again. Willem you are not forgotten.
My 7th-grade art teacher, Miss Oo-----aar, played this on her reel to reel while we did our art. Rumor was she had appeared in Playboy, and she was certainly beautiful enough. How I love this song.
I was born just before the launched this song on the radio...and I am Dutch. So, without knowing these people I am grateful for the moood they inspired in my youth...twice
1972 was a miserable year overall for music. But this single and its boundless optimism came along and pretty much made everything alright for one brief moment. God bless Mouth and Macneal! Sadly, "Mouth" is no longer with us, though.
Great classic of a tub thumper. A few local bands with some pretty decent lady singers did this song for a whole summer. The patio when not raining was filled with patrons. Everyone did the stomp dance then.
This is one of the greatest songs ever recorded, what showman, what pop genius. I listened to this 45 until my ears bled, until I puked record needles. I've listened to this song every day since I've been 16 years old. It's the song of a whole generation. Now excuse me while I pinch a loaf.
It was great ! People in the early seventies chewed it up. Times have been a-changing of course. There is also great music today. There will always be great music. The music one grows up with is one of a kind. So what ? Every people is part of time and music but music is timeless.
I can't think of a song that brings fonder memories than this one, and we will miss you father very much! My own father passed away two months before him. I share your emotions.
It was never number one in the U.S., it was number one in the overseas Dutch Top 40 where they were quite popular. It reached number eight in the U.S. in July 1972. Thanks for posting it.
I am 47, and I can remember from my school-days in Denmark , ( a little town, called Mørkøv) that me and my friends , went crazy , when we heard this song for the first time. I think it was on Radio Luxenbourg they played it. Mouth and Macneal were very popular in Denmark, and it`s sad to read about his death. I still got the 33-45 vinyl , and I will keep them forever , that`s for sure.
I'm a 79 grad; yeah, music was fun and kool back then. I remember this tune, in August of 1972, just before entering the sixth grade. Time flies....... where did all the good tunes go?
I remember this song well. The summer a rockaway playland in Queens ,New York. The whole amusement park walking around, singin along. What a great time to be 12 yrs. old .
I always loved this song, and I remember an album cover where she wore a tam and her hair looked darker, and talk about AWESOME! Still great., love the way they did the mime and video, the rowboat, and the other movements, and they just really seemed to have genuine fun and it spreads. Thumbs up
I'm almost 48 and remember when this song was a hit..I think the summer of 72 and I get the same feelings as I did then that these two don't have a clue as to what they're singing in English.
I was 12 in '72. This was one heavy song back then. Very melodious that even parents got off on it. See? We could be trustworthy with our song selections-that is until we discovered Deep Purple.I thought these guys were Canadian.
I lived in Holland at the time, and this was broadcast from a ship. Radio Noordzee International i think it was called. What lovely happy uncomplicated days. Unlike now sadly.
Thank you for posting this great and lively song. I was stationed in Germany when it came out and danced the night away with many a pretty German girl......oh what memories! Sigh.
I love 70's music, was 9 when this song was on the radio....I remember. It was pathetic then, and is even more so now! This is the essence of what we called "bubblegum".
i use to listen to the song on the radio in my car..back in the early seventies when this song was popular...but i also never saw these two perform until this video...and they look and sound great...thanks for posting this video...i play it all the time now...
I can't tell you how many times I've played this video! What a fun song that represents great times and wonderful memories! They just don't make music like this anymore.
100%, such a feel good tune!
my parents can't understand why i love listing to the music they listen to back in the day, and i keep telling them because it's actual music. It has meaning and it just sounds better. long live the 70's
RIP Willem. May your operatic voice and goofy antics live on forever on youtube.
Wind en regen
60s, 70s, 80's music = Originality and melody
Todays music = NOISE.
How could anyone not like this wonderfull song?
1972. In nursing school, sitting out in Sandymount Strand, Dublin, listening to the music of this year with the rest of our class. Memories!
Way back...when this would come on the radio....I loved it. Don't get that kinda feeling anymore.
It’s really amazing just how many videos exist of M&M performing this song! I remember it playing on the radio and I always loved it.❤❤❤
she's adorable! they worked beautifully together. i absolutely LOVE this song-it's so much fun!
I love this song so much. it's songs like this that keep me living in the past. I see no reason to put things like this behind me. I cannot understand how in the world it got so many dislikes. This is as "feel good" as it gets! !!

+geraldcherney64 that should have been "live the rest of my life".....of course I WOULD "love" it.
Brigette Bridges Do you remember the song Bandala by David Cassidy. Another song I think I will never get tired of.
+geraldcherney64 oh absolutely! People are always making fun of me for like David Cassidy. ..lol
I think I love you has always been my favorite.
What about Seattle by Bobby Sherman? .....lol
The year I fell in love with music. Love this fun song. Great memories.
I only saw them once when they performed in the Eurovision song contest in the early 70's and this is the second time.....what joy!
Thanks for this.
71 WHB in Kansas City, listened to this song a LOT back then. Don Rey in the morning. What great times those were.
That song came out when I was a little kid, and I remember calling it "The Grumpy Man Song" since Mr. Mouth sounded like he was yelling during the refrain. Funny to see it again almost 40 years later.

My Mother likes to hear this with the volume up real LOUD. I like it loud also, makes it better!!
This song did reach number 1 in Chicago at WLS and WCFL for several weeks in 1972. I have the hit parade lists from both stations to prove it.
I'm only 19 and this is a great song. A lot better than most of the stuff we listen to today.
