Hey there, I know you're just learning crosswords, but there's a special crossword on Fridays on WSJ that also has a hidden meta puzzle. Could be fun to add some extra puzzle solving (as if Crosswords weren't enough.) I can help you get started solving metas. Also, they sometimes take all weekend to solve, so I'm not sure how well it translates to a video. Lastly, my advice for crosswords is: They are supposed to be fun! If you ever feel stuck or frustrated, just Google. Especially proper names! No point getting frustrated at something that is supposed to be fun and no one is going to judge. Not everyone knows everything.
Not sure if you fully understood but the last theme clues answer was “25 percent” but since there was “no quarter” it omitted the 25 part. In that way it works just like the other 3 theme clues where the answer includes the number value of the coin with a twist.
Eta, pronounced Ay-tuh (plural Etas) is a Greek letter (capitalized: H, lowercase: η) and is phonetically an H sound or "ay" sound (akin to Ay-tuh). I assume the writers mentioned Homer and Herodotus in the clue because capital Eta is "H". However, the accepted Greek spelling of Homer does not start with H/Eta; Homer starts with a long O sound, as if the H in Homer is silent.

You're right, I didn't get that part. Makes sense, though!
