Oh that was cute when they tried to hitch a ride to the other side. So are they pet's or food? That's a very clever way to get them from one side to the other without them escaping. I love it.:-):-):-)

LOL - Yeah… They are like a couple of little kids. They are food. Doing my best not to get attached. No names this time! Thank you, yes this method really seems to work well for us. It definitely helped that they were cooperating with me too. LOL Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

Glad the wench worked out so well. And the piggies just wanted a ride. Too cute!

Thanks- yeah, I usually use my tractor to pull it, but it just seemed like an easier alternative. …and yes, they were just like two little kids looking to play. LOL Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

Thank you! Hope that you will get all set up with your own pigs soon. Who knows… maybe at that point we will be breeding our own and you can get some from us. 😁👍

Im only a little disappointed they didn't give you a harder time, Jay 😂 you know you could charge money for watching those mud fights 😂😂😂

Yeah… as they get bigger, they might not be willing to go so easily. That’s when feeding time gives me the advantage though. 👍 I tried to convince Cheryl to have some mud fights with me, but she didn’t want any part of it. Probably a good thing… she might be able to take me. LOL Thanks for watching❤️

We get our first pigs in just a few days. We have this same electric fencing but we got scared out of using it by a lot of people who have raised pigs around us lol! So we ended up building a pen with hog panels AND a stand of electric wire at the bottom. It’s probably pigatraz compared to most pig pens lol!

    • @CelticRootsFarm
      @CelticRootsFarm 3 роки тому

LOL That’s what we did last year to train the pigs to the electric fence, but this seems to work great. It is also much easier to move around to give them fresh grass. Just curious… what was the issue that people were running into using the fencing? We were not planning on getting pigs this late in the year because at this point we won’t be able to get them processed until February because everyone around here is booked solid. Thanks so much for watching! 👍

@@CelticRootsFarm Lots of escaping pigs and chasing after them stories and the thought of chasing pigs doesn’t sound fun lol! We got ours later than usual too but we wanted to get through our 100 meat chickens before we got the pigs since we really have no clue what we are doing when it comes to pigs. Figured it would be easier to handle that way.

@@LoonyMooseFarm Ahhh… ok. So far we’ve had pretty good luck with this fence. Once they got zapped on it, they really do t want to mess with it at all. I hear ya… juggling meat birds and pigs and everything else you have going on can be a bit overwhelming. Well, we wish you the best with them and hope you have an amazing season! 👍

Super helpful video; thank you Jay! We're very keen on getting pigs (hopefully next year, but we're tackling meat birds first) so I'm taking in as much knowledge as possible.

Oh nice- glad it was helpful. If we can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Once again… wished we lived closer.
I am currently watching your video and learning what not to do when touching an electric fence. ⚡️ LOL Dude… that was priceless and sorry, but I need to have the video of you shocking yourself with the fence charger on repeat. So funny! ⚡️⚡️BTW- I’ve done that countless times with the fence, but never with the charger! Owwww!!! ⚡️⚡️

@@CelticRootsFarm Oh I wish I only touched the fence haha; the fence isn't even that bad. I had the grounding rods pressed in my stomach and touched the metal end of the clip; I'd say it was like ten to fifteen times more powerful than the fence! Lol it got me real good!

@@TheModernYeoman I saw that! I actually edited what I originally said because I realized I wrote “fence.” Yeah… I’ve touched the fence when it was really hot… I can just imagine what it felt like for you! LOL Glad you are ok, but that was super funny.

I might have to make a bigger mud hole for my pigs.

LOL - Oh yeah! They loved it! I usually don’t make a spot that big for them, but the water was getting warm and I needed to move them anyway, so I said, “why not?!?” They are definitely entertaining to watch. Thanks for watching! 👍👍👍👍

Thank you! Oh… it’s been a while… I’m not sure exactly. LOL Off the top of my head, I actually can’t recall… however, there is a video of me actually making it. If I’m not mistaken, I believe I mentioned the dimensions in that video. Thanks so much for watching. Sorry for the delay in my response.
