When I wanted to learn scuba diving for leisure in my 30s, the only thing that came to my mind was to find the best instructor. So a friend introduced me to his instructor who happened to be an ex-NDU encik. Because who else better to teach? I never looked back since he shared with me a lot of things about the sea and human body that other commercial divers instructors do not.
use to train with NDU as guard of honor for NDP. in the early 90s when they started the NSF recruitment. these early NSF are bunch of rugged beast. Most are o level, ITE, some poly grads. nowadays, the training is still tough, but i dont see that kind of ruggedness in them anymore. hard to explain it by words, can only be seen by eyes.
For those with FHogan n Sgt Mission-the fat short n ugly(the only man that can walk upright in the decomposition chamber then); the deployment for Sentosa cable incident was from Sembawang camp(not from Brani). The divers were deployed without medical coverage that was the protocol then. The dive team had forgotten to pick up the medics from NDU medical centre.
Not really, CDOs sees them as equals. There are a number of joint task, so both groups know each other pretty well. 1 of the thing may be due to Best Combat Unit, as NDU personnel do not directly participate.
@@DarkwearGT They went through the same training right? Just like how some commandos are diver-trained while some divers are trained in airborne, freefall & ranger
I don't think the 3 countries you mentioned above deployed more than our NDU guys. I don't know how you are comparing but I think the 3 countries that you mentioned above is way behind our NDU capabilities.
Search & Rescue mission! Seriously?? Any commercial diver could have done it. Have they been tested in any real battle? No. Until such time, they still boys as opposed to men.
Shut Up if you don't know anything. My brother who is NSF ndu was posted to Somalia to fight pirates. He sees real action during his 6 months posting there. The hazard pay was very good.

Lovely to see so much racial diversity. Oh wait....
They are always in the shadow of the commandos no matter how hard they try or how tough they are

Tough but compare to Malaysia, Taiwan or Thailand....they are still way behind.
Room for improvement. Good, hopefully can cross train together
We are young navel force (NDU) compair to them but we will keep on learning and improving.

Yeah try dealing with crocodiles and sharks in the water, like most countries do before you call yourself a “naval diver”
Mate you can’t even be a naval diver even if you wanted too and out here you are belittling them
You saw other country naval diver deal with crocodiles and sharks?
Last time I heard, Crocodiles and Sharks wasn't part of any combat units in any countries 🙄
And like most countries, we managed to fend them off with tools called weapons.
This is NDU bro, not the SPCA. Stop smoking too much weed 😂
