I went to Catholic school/high school through the late 50s and 60s. In all those years, we NEVER talked, read or prayed with the Bible. So it was easy to leave Catholicism behind. I'm now 75, and have returned to my faith! Bible in a Year has helped me. But I'd be nowhere without Ascension app. And reading the liturgy of the hours (abridged) helped me tremendously.
I spent just a bit over a year and a half reading the Bible cover to cover. Mainly two nights a week, sometimes more frequently. I would look up scriptures and used a study Bible as well. I was really able to take off when I switched to an ESV translation and a "one a day" type Bible that gave a bit of the OT, a bit of the NT, and some Psalms and Proverbs for each day of the year. I would read many days at a time and it helped keep me on track. PLUS another tip: I've been seeing scripture quoted lately EVERYWHERE! Whenever I see a bible quote or scripture mentioned in comments on the Internet I look them up and study to that. Now I'm reading the NT again. It's fun to just bounce to whatever you want but yes- always be reading your Bible. I plan to perpetually read my Bible for my life.
If I don't have an idea of what I am going to read, I just ask our Father and He sends me to where I need to be! And don't forget to kiss your Holy Bible as well... ✝🥰😘 Thank you, Father Mark Mary 🙏
Hi Fr Mark-Mary thank you so much for this, I can highly recommend Ascension Presents to everyone. I started doing the Catechism in a year with Fr Mike in January, and that has now progressed to me also doing the bible in a year at the same time, loving every moment, God Bless.
is there a official catholic version of the bible that is in audiobook form? I've been looking all over audible for one but i don't know which one is the right or correct version of the catholic bible in audiobook form. Please can you help me if there is an adiobook form of an official approved catholic bible. Thanks in advance! and happy Easter and God bless!@@AscensionPresents
Father, excellent! I try to use the daily scripture but sometimes it’s not understandable. So I’m gonna try your idea of the parables, maybe for a month I’ll try that. Again, some great ideas, thank you.❤
What helped me read and understand the NT was when sb said to see that Jesus healed people because of their faith, and after healing them always said sth to the effect that they must repent, or: Go, and sin no more… When I understood that He was not just healing their bodies in those instances, reading the whole Bible was much easier - just look at the bigger picture 😇🙏🏼✝️
I’m starting a deep study of the Old Testament, I love my Catholic Church but they never go into the Old Testament. Using Ignatius workbooks for Genesis, Exodus and Deuteromy. For Numbers and Leviticus have to use Protestant workbooks.
At 57 I've learned so much more about the Bible, because of following A Bible in a Year with Father Mike Schmitz and he is just so enjoyable because of his wonderful faith for our Father
Greetings Father Mark, Thoughts :- -> Message emphasizes, "The Core Spiritual Exercises with Litany, Prayers, Rosary is emboldened with Spiritual Read of Holy Bible at all occasions in every aspects of Life." -> Good Suggestive thoughts, Thanks Father.. With regards, Ranjith Joseph (R.J)
I can't find where to save this video. Because the title of the video is how to get more out of the Bible. I'm already doing Bible in a year with father Mike Schmitz, but this might be something worthwhile as well. So how can I save it ?
Do what you can. Maybe write down a list of formal prayers to pray every day. I had to do that once. At first, I had to write out each prayer that I was going to pray. After a couple of months, I just had to write down the title of the prayer or the first few words of the prayer I was going to pray. Then a few months after that, I was just able to pray again with no list. But if that hadn't happened, I would still be using my list to this day.
I just learned that I am the mother of God! Jesus said in Matthew 12 that anyone who does the will of God is His mother! The Catholic Church claims that Mary isn't just the mother of Jesus but of God so that means I am the mother of God! Winner winner... Where's my chicken dinner?
@@Theunspokentruth77es, that book is read during Easter and advent. Also, the mission of the mass is not a bible study. Reading scripture is not the primary purpose of the mass
The Bible is not part of my life for years, i left the church when i was 17 because the bad thing happening in my life. Seeing what is happening in the entire on these las 10 years i am seeing that if God exists, he is not so powerful as you says.

Thanks for this, Father Mark-Mary. Have a blessed day ❤.
Thanks for this podcast and all Ascension Presents does!
That’s exactly how I read the bible. I always want to read people’s encounters with God
Hi father
My brother said to start with Mark it's a smaller chapter
And will help on not being lost when starting out
Daily Gospel Exegesis Podcast has been amazing!
I'm enjoying Word on Fire Gospels from Bishop Barron. I like the commentary from many saints, theologians and Bishop and the beautiful art.
This is very helpful. Thank you so much.
I love how you give us strategies to grow in faith!
Thank you for this wonderful message. God bless you always 🙏 ❤️ 🙏

Another great resource is: The Navarre Bible series. Commentaries on the Old Testament, the Gospels, and the New Testament. Highly recommended.
Excellent so simple yet deep
i’m a new convert and i was looking for a video like this all yesterday morning 🥲🥲🥲 and here i am almost 24 hours later amazing!!!

I did a Bible in a year but it wasn’t this one. I might listen to Ascensions soon. For now I’m just doing the daily readings.

Any comment on Brandon Robbins? I found his material to be engaging and entertaining. I am Carholic true and true.
I watch Brandon Robbins as well, I am not a Catholic!
What do you think about The Bible project? (You guys should do a catholic one ;) )
I don’t know what the Bible project is, but I will look into it, thank you 😊
📖❤
Can somebody list all the steps that father mark mention here

Click on the 3 dots to the right of "Share"
The captioning is not showing the word that i think is supposed to be "friary".
What does prayer look like for people who are not well and cant focus too much or too long. Father please comment.

Sounds like Protestant nonsense but ok
If you don’t understand hyperboles or metaphors then your interpretation is going to be quite Protestant
Moore is that a saint or a Angel . Just keating
Why does Roman Catholicism selectively read the Bible in the church? Why not all the scriptures?
They do read all the scriptures, it’s never the same verse or verses. True Catholics encouraged all to read the Bible.
@@cavsking6 no they don't. They pre defined readings every year. Have you ever heard a reading from a reading from the book of revelation?
@@Theunspokentruth77es, that book is read during Easter and advent. Also, the mission of the mass is not a bible study. Reading scripture is not the primary purpose of the mass
@@JamesMathison98 have you ever heard the readings where it reads about mystery Babylon?
@@Theunspokentruth77 revelation chapter 17 is not read at any liturgy in the 3 year cycle. But yes of course I’ve read it
