As stated in the video, it's really fun to drive and a lot faster than you think. For the price of around $42K, this car is definitely a bang for your buck. Great review
hi this was only a month ago, but i was thinking of leasing one. i can't swing the extra $15k for the high end version.... you think i'll be happy with the GT-line? i am coming from a yaris so im sure i will be happy either way lol

I have the 2019 Stinger GTS & I love this car. I would definitely buy another one in the future. Especially if they add more power to it. Say about another 100 to 150 hp. Great video. Good driving looked like fun. Please Kia keep the Stinger alive.
This is my pick for the Stinger. $42 with AWD and the one option package it has abs you’re getting a RWD based 300hp midsize lift back. To me this is a no brained to buy over the K5 with the same engine.
Unfortunately, for a regular buyer, you get a lot more features in K5 EX w/o premium package (yet even with it it's still 4k cheaper) than in new base Stinger. We can talk RWD and performance all day long, but most people care about features and comfort first, and that's what makes the car sell in volume.
YES!!!...I agree.....Kia, DONT KILL IT!! The Stinger is an amazing vehicle and truly shows what the brand can and will do to set it self a part from the rest. The Stinger needs to become the staple piece by which the rest of the Kia line up will follow. I would love to see it live and improve for a long time. And Yes, I do own one.
The GT Line is on my short list for a new car next month... Checks all the boxes, decent on gas, not a small car, good power and some nice features for under 40k. Normally I would get the V6, but I just sold my 2021 Silverado so the goal is the lower the payment. I would never have contemplated the 2.0 liter option but with this new 2.5 its at the top of the list.
Please KIA. Dont kill off the KIA Stinger. Please. I tested a 2018 4 cylinder model in Phoenix, Arizona, and the only thing I found harder to operate was the infotainment / HVAC controls compared to my 2011 Chrysler 200 Limited. By the way, I just paid off my loan on it this month and I still love it. I have not found one car that I feel I have to have over my 200, even up to a $45,000 asking price. But, with Moto-Man's review of the 2022 KIA Stinger, things may change. My son will inherit the 200 and I will be seen test driving a brand new Stinger GT-Line. Thank you Moto-Man.
KUDOs for reviewing the base GT-Line with the new 2.5L turbo engine! A screaming deal with AWD, sunroof, and upgraded sound for an MSRP of $40,590. That puts it about $14,000 less than the MSRP of the GT2 for a sacrifice of half a second to 60 mph. Considering that a fully loaded KIA K5 GT with FWD comes in at only a few thousand dollars less, the GT-Line Stinger is awesome. Sadly, it looks increasingly likely that the Stinger will disappear as KIA puts all its performance "eggs" in the K6 EV basket. Understandable but very, very sad.
the GT1 AWD is 45k, which would be more comparable in terms of feature set to the GT-line (for the 2022 model year). So, the real savings is around 5k. I checked the kia website and the incentives are comparable for both whether financed or leased. I love this trim though, great move on introducing this new engine to this model
@@jjukjkjiok7782 You're correct. However, the GT1 trim level does not have the Harmon Kardon premium sound option that comes with the "Sun and Sound" option on the GT-Line. To get both the premium sound and the twin turbo V6, you have to move up to the GT2 trim level for an additional $7600 beyond the price of the GT1.
@@fooser77 The rumors that the Stinger would cease production in mid-2022 emerged (in Japanese publications) several months ago when KIA announced that the factory in which it's built would be repurposed to other vehicles and there was no indication where Stinger production would be shifted. Since that time KIA has denied that there are plans to kill the Stinger. However, the denial was more or less what journalists call a "non-denial denial" rather than a commitment to continue the Stinger after the 2022 model year. It's important to remember that Stinger sales have been weak since its introduction and have dropped or been flat ever since. The base GT-Line model with a 2.0L 4 cylinder engine which KIA expected to be the volume seller had especially weak sales. A problem KIA hoped would be remedied by the 2.5L engine replacement. So far, it hasn't helped. The Stinger's sales problems stem from several factors. First, despite strong initial reviews when it was introduced, an MSRP of $50,000 plus for a KIA was unheard of. (That was before the massive success of the Telluride that came later.) Critics and KIA dealers were skeptical that customers would ante up for a KIA at that price point. Second, unlike its sibling, the Genesis G70, the Stinger is not a true "sports sedan." Rather, it's a Korean interpretation of a European Grand Touring sedan for the American market. Not only are Americans largely unfamiliar with true "GT" (i.e. Gran Turismo) sedans, KIA salespeople, accustomed to selling utilitarian vehicles to budget constrained customers, had no idea how to sell such a vehicle. Thus, dealers didn't order many Stingers and KIA put very little advertising effort to support the Stinger. Even after the Telluride changed the public perception of KIA as a brand sales didn't recover. No matter how unfairly, the Stinger came to be seen as a cheaper (but still relatively expensive) knock off of a European performance car or a less powerful version of an American muscle car that Americans (mistakenly) call a GT. It certainly deserves a better reputation but as the saying goes, one seldom gets a second chance to make a first impression. If it survives I strongly suspect it will be as an EV.
after half a year with the 2018 6 cyl, i can say that it fares great as family mobile. and with the bastuck exhaust, it sounds awesome between 2k and 3.2k revs

Hi there! Great job and i love your channel ! I would like your Opinion here. Maybe an opportunity for a new test drive. I am talking about a comparison between the Stinger GT-Line 300 hp and the Alfa Romeo Giulia 280 hp. I had a Stinger GT2 from 2018 to 2021, I enjoyed that car very much, then when my lease was over, I test drove the Giulia 2021 280hp and it was love at first "curve". I decided to downgrade a bit also for economical reasons, however I was on the fence between getting another Stinger, the GT-Line this time, or change... and I opted for the Giulia. Interesting enough, i immediately found the Giulia drivability, handling, "Dynamic" as Alfa calls it, way superior. Giulia gives me confidence to use all of the 280HP quite often in full safety, with a great fun in the back roads... Stinger never gave me a good feeling to push the 365HP close to the limit , also the 2018 Stinger GT had issues with the brakes rotors, I had to re do them at 2500 miles and it was a common issue on the model, so, if you do not trust your brakes, you do not push the car. So, long story short... is there a chance to have a review / comparison for a Giulia 280hp 4 inline vs this Stinger 300hp 4 inline? I think it would be very interesting :) Thank you again for your work !

I just traded my 2020 GT Line lease in for a 2022 GT Line lease for two reasons. The value in todays market priced me about 7K over the lease buyout after just 16 months… I couldnt not take advantage of the current used car prices. Second was the new engine. Its awesome and everything in this review is spot on. Will it die? Probably so but I have mine. BTW, the new lease is the same payment as the previous one with zero down. could not pass that up.
What a special vehicle the Stinger is. This model needs Brembos and adjustable dampers and I think it would be perfectly spec’d. It sounds like Kia gave Kumo their answer with their non answer. Get out there and buy one of these special RWD sedans while you still can because you’re sadly not going to see this model around much longer.
Kia has not made an official announcement to end production on this car everyone has assumed that because the plant where this car is built is shifting to build electric cars there are many other plants around the world including here in the states where this car can be built
I've never seen Hyundai or Kia build their higher-end or sportier cars stateside. They've always been built in Korea as far as I'm aware. I'm not saying that can't change but it would be a first.
The lack of available options is what keeps this car down. The fact that you have to go +$15k to get vented & memory seats is just ridiculous while it could be a stand alone, easy to install package. Could even use last year's GT1 seats for that! Same goes for wheels & tires, even the LSD could be sold as a part of performance package - final ratio is the same! But instead it's only a sound system that's for some reason is paired with a stupid sunroof... A lot of missed opportunities there, even K5 has better packaging/options, so why would a regular person pay more for the stinger?
Wouldn't an all-wheel drive r Kia EV6 be the TRUE modern-day replacement for this Stinger? I mean, the Stinger has always gotten great reviews from the auto press, but its never sold up to Kia's sales forecasts?
What they need to do is market the 2.5 with a few more standard options for the 2.5 like maybe cooled seats and memory seats anf front parking senesor and the higher end headlights AND BOOM
George, can you help "Sarah" (in Tuscon) get a Stinger to review? She insists she can't get one .. (but so far has been able to get a G70 and a TLX Type-S)
The 2.5t engine really is the star but it needs an LSD in RWD guise. Savagegeese drives this point home in his video. I test drove the 2.5t and V6 and came away impressed with the 4 popper but ultimately decided I needed an LSD for a real RWD experience.
My lease for a Kia Forte is almost up and I wanna get rid of it so I can get into a 2022 Kia Stinger GT Line but im 21 and insurance kills me which sucks
Ok so the Stinger V6 with all the bells and whistles…or the Genesis G70 loaded? Besides the difference in price, which one is a better overall package?
Depends on what you're looking for. The G70 is lighter and smaller, and handles better and is slightly faster as a result, but it's smaller inside and the trunk can't compete with the Stinger's hatch. The Stinger is more of a GT and is a more soft ride. Not saying a G70 is rough, though. Personally I like the look of the Stinger more but both look very good imo and the G70 has a couple of tech features not on the Stinger. It honestly depends on what you prioritize more.
I looked at both recently and I have to say I slightly preferred the G70, BUT rear leg and headroom is less in the G70 and the Stinger has the hatchback. If you don’t want to put adults over about 5ft 10” in the back of your car and you can live with a far less practical and sizeable trunk, the G70 is great. I’d get the Stinger though as it’s a better tourer and day-to-day vehicle to live with.
Tough choice. I bought the Stinger GT here in OZ as it was a lot cheaper and had a 7year warranty. I also love the looks of it. Both are packed with great equipment that comes standard. To each their own.
Any clue if AWD is possible on 2.5L? And how many 2.5L have been produced so far in comparison to 3.3? thanks! unfortunately they already killed Stinger, leaving the limited edition at the very end. That's my biggest regret and dissapointment in the car industry. Eco-trend kills us all.
Just look at the sales numbers for the last few years to see if they will eliminate this car from further production. It does not matter how good the car is. The chart is your friend until the end.

Is the 2.5 stinger fast enough?
@@KobeMpthers yes for me. The extra 50 hp in the 2022 is noticeable.
The weight is surprisingly low for having the rear hatch and being mid-sized. Good value too.
I thought so too. 3792 lbs with awd for a mid size sportback is pretty good
7:57 it's actually 2 pistons in the back for the V6
Great review, Thank you for the review on the GT LINE! im planning on getting this, so sad to hear KIA will stop producing these bad ass cars :(
I’d definitely still take my twin turbo V6, but the 4cyl is definitely more exciting now
I wonder what Al Biermann has to say about it.
They need to do a hybrid and all electric versions of the stinger
The will use the name on an all electric car, for sure.
I like the color. And I was always impressed by the Stinger. How far Kia has come.
The twin Turbo v6 comes with red BREMBO.
Real shame the 2.5T isn't being made available in Australia, was probably one of my few picks for new cars (7-year warranty)
same in Germany unfortunately :(
the 2.5T with that diamond stitching seats only available in south korea (I guess) would be the perfect car!
Interesting color, but the Stinger looks better on more vibrant colors.
Excellent work like always, M.
Agreed!
Ceramic silver is the best color and with contrast
Awesome road to be driving the Stinger.
I hate that they limit interior/exterior color options. I would do Ascot Green/Red Nappa leather with the Scorpion package in a heartbeat
Here Here
Will buy this car, if the chip shortage ends and it's still available.
Stunning KIA STINGER please do not kill it off.
Going electric at the plant in the states in 5 years.
Just direct injection? I thought the new 2.5t was dual-injected with both port and direct.
I want this car. Checks all the boxes for me.
WHERE IS THIS AWESOME TWISTY ROAD!?!
I want one of these so bad--ceramic silver w/red interior, GT line, AWD, with sun an sound. Yes please. DO NOT KILL THE STINGER KIA
I assume you say this on another video somewhere, but what road is that you are testing on? Thx.
Saddle interior only comes out in the gt2 package
Thanks, MotoMan! Save the RWD sport sedans!
Amen!
Wouldn't an all-wheel drive r Kia EV6 be the TRUE modern-day replacement for this Stinger? I mean, the Stinger has always gotten great reviews from the auto press, but its never sold up to Kia's sales forecasts?
What they need to do is market the 2.5 with a few more standard options for the 2.5 like maybe cooled seats and memory seats anf front parking senesor and the higher end headlights AND BOOM
that would be sweet man. Id pay for all that in a package that was around 1500
The ascot green is not really ‘free of charge’…if you choose that color on build & price, they make you pick the sun and sound package for $2,300
Do you buy this Stinger or the K5 with the 2.5liter? The K5 has dual clutch but FWD.
George, can you help "Sarah" (in Tuscon) get a Stinger to review?
She insists she can't get one ..
(but so far has been able to get a G70 and a TLX Type-S)
Has he done a 2023 gt line?
The 2.5t engine really is the star but it needs an LSD in RWD guise. Savagegeese drives this point home in his video. I test drove the 2.5t and V6 and came away impressed with the 4 popper but ultimately decided I needed an LSD for a real RWD experience.
I agree with your wishlist!
Get this and mod it to V6 numbers. It'll perform better because it's lighter and you save money.
This may not matter to you at all but I hate that g70 doesn’t have ambient lights but the stinger does.
Great car for that price point!
So much better than a TLX 2.0T!
Just look at the sales numbers for the last few years to see if they will eliminate this car from further production. It does not matter how good the car is. The chart is your friend until the end.
I almost got one today fully loaded I’m paying 450 for k5 gt line premium . Could have got this for 630 a month . Debating still
You are respected!
Nice car, but I still like the G70 styling inside and out a whole lot better. 😏
I will agree with the styling on the inside is better on the G70 but it also costs more.
Styling might be better but a Stinger is more practical.
Question is is it better than Accord 2.0 sport the Accord comes in under $34,000 and it's just as fast as a Kia stinger gt line.
Performance wise they're close in a straight line but RWD handling and launching along with a way better interior make me wanna say Stinger.
@@ClubZlut I was able to get an accord 2.0 sport for MSRP with no dealer markup and no add-ons in this market only problem it'll be in sometime in December but it was locked in now every Kia stinger GT line that I've gone to look at has a $5,000 markup Plus two grand or more in dealer add-ons.
@@GLI_1701 Depends on area. Here kia dealers are more willing to come down. Granted, that was a GT1 in 2019, but even now the same dealer near me isn't making them up.
@@ClubZlut I live in California and every car dealerships trying to get rich off every car they sale
Two completely different experiences.
Help y’all…looking for sporty sedan under $40K…This or a Sonata N Line? Same engine….sonata has the DCT but stinger is available in AWD…I live in PA and this will be a daily driver. I like both interiors, maybe sonata by a nose…but I definitely like the stinger exterior…drivers, including the esteemed Motoman, seem to favor the n line’s driving experience…this is tough 🤨
I'm looking at the Stinger because personally I like the looks better. Also I love the sport back hatch on the singer. Lastly and I could be wrong i think the Stinger is a little bigger than the Sonata so having 2 kids in the back that's a plus for me. I used to live in Pittsburgh so you can survive with the FWD but having AWD is always nice to have too! If you havn't already get out and drive them both then you will really know.
@@DR_Bloom86 thanks for your input….I grew up near Pittsburgh as well
Hey MotoMan...It seems that so many times when a manufacturer designs something that grows not as profitable but is indeed great they decide suddenly to cut it from the vine. Why is it that always the Good die young? Maybe they could just leave it to Mature and watch the best of the flavor come thru...(Kia if you are Listening...After this Refresh of the Great vehicle...Give it chance to be everything you hope for a "True Legacy" for more to enjoy Memorably etched in the annuals of time. Please, My hope is at least until 2025...add mild-hybrid details if necessary.) BisBeta
Sadly, it is not really an OEM issue . . . it's a buyer issue.
You need to get in a model t then you will appreciate the power of today
What I don't understand is why they make cars with 300hp, if you can't run it no more than 65 or 70 miles per hour. at least in California.
I would buy a stinger 2.5T, but i cannot afford it 🤣
They’re gonna kill it, Motoman. Makes me sad, but there’s no business case for it.
"They're going to kill the Stinger", says nobody but Korean Car Blog: and it gets picked up and spread around: and Kia gets free advertising by saying nothing at all. See how that works? It's been done, what, three or four times in the Stinger's short life already?
I bet just this version will smoke the Honda Accord 2.0
Really?
I own Stinger but in 2022 I would recommend Tesla instead
RWD just the way it should be who says only FWD is for fuel economy.
such a shame they're killing it. Hopefully it will resurrect in some other form.
#Do not killed it Kia!
Now they need to put that engine in the base G70. I would buy that in a heartbeat. The G70 is soooo much better looking and you can get ventilated seats with the 4cyl unlike the stinger.
Sad that Kia is discontinuing the Stinger after next year. RIP.
💯
This or the Giulia? This is more reliable. Giulia likely more fun.
The brakes are now Brembo for 2023 Apex 2.5T.
a more complete package would be to add fixed front calipers than the rusty ugly sliders
If it had another 50-100 HP this car would be perfect. But cmon! 300 HP? This isn’t 2007
300 hp out of a 2.5l 4 banger is great though. If you need more hp get the v6!
Here for the review, but also because he doesn't wear underwear. 😂🤷🏾♂️
That color is awful
Instead of killing the Stinger for the G70 why don’t KIA transform the Stinger into a performance CUV.
🤮🤮🤮
🤦♂️
Then the lose the good looks of the Stinger for a CUV?! 🤔 No thanks.
The next Stinger will be the all-wheel drive performance version of the EV6,... this version is dead
Has he done a 2023 gt line?
