Its so hard to believe but..this song was written by Hoyt Axston... the Dad from Gremlins! He wrote almost every song on the Three Dog night joy to the world album.... And Elvis's Heartbreak hotel 157 recorded songs and so many hits from the 70's and 80's... Plus he acted.. Produced .. Directected not only music but Westerns for the big and Small screen...what a talent Hoyt was plus he was a comic storyteller..and when I was younger it was awesome too see him in concert where my Dad worked in Reno but I got to meet him also...what a great day that was!!
While I have no reason to doubt the veracity of the bulk of you comment, there's no way that Hoyt Axton can claim to have written this song. Leadbelly recorded a version of it in 1940 - Hoyt Axton was born in 1938...
You right leadbelly had thier original version in the and Hoyt recorded a newer version for a western he was acting in... It was his version CCR sang. Sorry I read his Bio wrong...but at least you can admit Hoyt Wrote MANY hit Songs for himself and other Bands or Singers in the 50s to the 80s...and the version he made ...that is more like the CCR rerecorded version...did make the song more famous than The Original Mississippi Delta Blues version.
@@missiebaker9975 you dug a deeper hole for yourself, just accept that it's Leadbelly's song pure and simple and Creedence and whoever else covers it owe it to the composer Huddie Ledbetter ...PERIOD !...Yes Hoyt was a great artist and song writer ,but he just covered Leadbelly's tune and if he were with us, he'd tell you that
Pop has to be liked by everyone so it's written in a 4 beat tempo/time signature, I know that's not what your talking about but it's hard to incorporate that into any music. Rick Beato on UA-cam (he's a producer and produced for a lot of 80s and 90s rock bands) has a video talking about how pop music is wrote and why it's so likable and easy to remember etc... It's too easy, that's how they get ya
all media is purposefully dumbed down because an intelligent population doesnt allow itself to be forced into squalor and starvation by european loyalist aristocrats.
Music used to be made to entertain. And was made naturally, with influence. People still want entertainment, music just isn't really at the forefront like it used to be.
Well I'm old so Twilight Zone the movie, some songs are timeless and transend dimensions,I wrote this in 2221 and 2221BC,so you now have the com Mr Spock 😂
Condolences brother hope your holding up strong for him , lord knows the big man is still watching over young with a smile listening to his favourite song with ya 💯
I love this tune annnd it reminds me of Coach Dennis always telling us how "no one is ABOVE THE LAW!!" May not reflect the songs purpose but it reminds me of Coach!! Glad I took his advice!! Really for the most part just ignored him with our whopping 40% winning seasons!! Buuut that's beside the point!!
I remember this from my childhood... "You wanna see something scary?" Thank you for the memories. ~SW~
I understood that reference
First thing I thought of too. Glad I’m not the only one!!
The Twilight Zone Movie brought me here. Loved this song in the intro with Albert Brooks and Dan Aykroyd singing it.
Just watched that movie the other day 🤣 I still love it ❣️
That whole scene was REALLY scary!!! I recorded the film from TV, when I was around 14, I still love it, like the series :-)

What a great band they were. Thanks for posting this
1:05 I just love how the swing is dropped when the drums comes in. This trick has been underused in pop music.

omg... perfectly said.
This to me is the music you listen to when you're going through a lot or want to relive memories.
Why the FUCK can’t music still be this good!
They don't study it anymore. They let computers do it.

Not disputing that! It may have originated in the plantations about 150 years ago, but it's still very much a Leadbelly song...
