Tip, I have been working for my self in my in home daycare for 10 years, before that as a head teacher and an assistant director at a preschool center, also worked as a nanny for 7 years. Families you want to provide service for should want to support you and your business as much as you want to help support them and their children, it is a team effort to raise a child. You need to charge a tuition rate, a flat fee for time you are available and open for a family, not for when they just want to drop in, you are not a teenager babysitting for them, the parent doesn't just show up to work when they want or they would be fired and we don't have that luxury ether. once you have a set commitment on a schedule for a parent they need to be accountable for that tuition, they are hiring you for your availability to them within that schedule and your responsibility towards them. I only offer 3 schedules 1/2 day = 4hrs or less a day and only available in morning not PM / or School day without extended care 6 hours and only in the AM / or Full extended day so I'm available to that family for care during my full business hours, they can use as little hours or as many hours as I'm open all for their contracted monthly tuition. I only ask to be payed 10 national holidays a year that we are closed, I'm open all year round and I do not ask to be paid for my vacation time. Do not allow drop in care for other families or hourly rates, respect your self and your business contract with a certain number of families and hold them accountable for their contract just like they hold you accountable for your services and availability, we provide group care at a cheaper rate than a one on one Nanny so charge on a tuition rate. I do not allow for mix and matching of schedule they need to pick one of the 3 schedules and stick to it, only option they have is 3 days a week 4 or 5 days, we don't offer 1 or 2 day options. I hope this helps, you will attract the clients you want and not unwanted clients. I filled up my large in home daycare by the end of my 2nd month in business an have stayed full with a waiting list every school year.
There are a few ideas to think about before you start your own cleaning business Will you get help from your family? Are you someone who is self-motivated? Will you stick to your plan? Do you have the money to start? (I read these and why they work from Quintrell Care Plan site )
There are a few components to starting a day care center from home. One resource I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Quintrell Care Plan (google it if you're interested) it's the most incredible resource that I have ever seen. look at the great information.
I to have a Home Daycare and believe that your advice about loving working with all children not just your own was such a wonderful idea. So many people get into home daycare thinking mainly about the care of their own kids and the money that nothing else is thought about. Great video! Keep up the good work!
such a cute baby and i am considering opening a daycare at home but I have so many questions. I want to earn money from home and quit my dead end job to spend more time with my son.
hey ,if anyone else is searching for how to start a daycare at home try Stiklind Daycare Setup Fixer ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my co-worker got amazing results with it.
interesting points ,if anyone else trying to find out how to run a successful daycare from home try Stiklind Daycare Setup Fixer (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my cousin got amazing results with it.
I'm seriously considering opening a home daycare after the new year. I'm also in Florida and I'll be registering and only planning on watching 2 kids. I'd love to hear your thoughts on giving yourself paid holidays/vacation time and how you handle sick days for yourself and your clients.
+LivingwithHope Deffinately I know in Florida you don't need a license if you are only watching one families children. But more than one family you need a license or need to register. It all depends on the county you live in. Ive been thinking of doing a video explaining my holidays and Paid time off. I take two weeks vacation a year.. sadly unpaid but certain holidays I take off are paid.
+LivingwithHope hey ,if anyone else wants to learn about how to run home daycare business try Stiklind Daycare Setup Fixer (just google it ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my brother in law got excellent results with it.
You are so pretty! Thanks for this video! I’m currently a junior in high school! I still want to go to college and I know you don’t need a degree for this job but I think I’m gonna either get a bachelors in Childhood development or become a Elementary Teacher!❤️
you are amazing, thanks for sharing. I have a question, do I need a teaching certificate for me to open a day care? I love children and I want to spend time with many. I love your video.
given bupe you don't need a teaching certificate, there are some courses you will have to take in order to get licensed. For example "rules and regulations for family home daycare" you will have to take continuing education courses each year to keep up your license. But you don't need a "teaching degree" or certificate. Hope this helps.
If your state has a website for the department of children and families you should be able to find information there. In Florida it is www.myflfamilies.com click services and then click childcare. It is different for different states.
I know they are supposed to have some sort of outside area to play. That is a great question I wish I knew the answer. Here is the website for florida www.myflfamilies.com/service-programs/child-care
+yendor hepburn A great website to check out is www.myflfamilies.com/ if you hover over services and click on childcare it wil give you al lthe information you need to get started. Every county is different some require a license and some don't. Hope this helps!

@@ruthbello7389 yes you have to take the cpr class again. Thats the requirement for my county. Generally you just have to take continuing education classes each year worth about 8-10 credit hours. Our counselors send us a renewing packet a few months before we have to renew each year.
Kelsey Powell with my daughter I only took two weeks off and started working right away. It wasn't easy. It's hard to take much time off. People will find someone else to watch their kids.
i am not necessarily Opening a daycare. i am babysitting temporarily for family friends until they get their actual daycare providers figured out for the next 2 months. My question is would i need to get a license if i am only temporarily doing this?
paxiong It depends on your state what the rules are. For instance I am in Florida and the law here is that you don't need a license as long as you are only sitting for one family. If you have more than one family in your care at your home then you may need a license. Also it differs for different counties. Some counties don't require a license but do ask that you register your business. Hope this helps and good luck!!
I am losing my job bc i wont get the covid shot for my work. Thank you for the tips. Running a home daycare sucessfully is my goal. Maybe it will be a blessing in disguise that i am losing my job. I just hope they dont eventually require the covid shot to be lisenced.
+Jamaliah Peters Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I work very long hours. About 11.5 hours a day. SO I work 57 and a half hours a week. It is very exhausting. But you do get the reward of the love of a child and see them grow and learn. Also if you have children of your own it allows you to stay at home and raise them yourself.

Do you have the money to start?

One question ?? If I took my First Aid Cpr and it got expired do I have to take the class again or how can I renew it if I already took it??
I have to renew mine every other year. CPR and Firt Aid. Throught the American Red Cross. You can search for classes in your area.
So do I have to take the class all over again how about the licience one also take the class again that got expired as well??
