That's such an elegant way of dressing. I do say it wouldn't even feel out of place in modern times, your husband would simply be seen as a very well dressed gentleman!
Lucas looks so handsome, what a great sport he is.
I love how every once in a while Lucas throws in a cheeky comment.
Handsomely done, Lucas. He does you proud, Izabela.
Thought he wasn't wearing anything under that shift at first, but then I saw the undies and I was like "whew!"
Lucas is a real character 😂
Very lovely suit, expertly modelled of course.
Really interesting to hear these tidbits about men's clothing - I suppose there must be almost as many things to know about it as for women's throughout the eras with so many elaborate designs.
Looking forward to the next video, they're always fascinating!
A very distinguished Gentleman! Both of you are looking great in clothes of every century you showed us. I love, love love your videos!
I’m getting Renoir vibes from this suit and your picnic on the beach. Very nice
Always such a treat to see some menswear from time to time! It's fascinating learning where your costuming and tailoring journey is taking you, and lovely to hear from Lucas as well!
I love the two of you interacting in these videos
Quite a dashing suit!
Well I won't complain about seeing your husband without a shirt. What a beautiful suit and he carries it well. A beautiful couple. Thank you for sharing it!
Exquisite, Lucas! You are definitely a fashion plate, no matter what the era. Izabella, I am (as usual) in awe.
Love the gents!
Very dashing 🤗
Looked very dapper when standing with hands in trouser pockets, with boater hat and sun glasses. Brilliant mens outfit xx
The straw boater makes this summer look! ❤
You two are so adorable!
I wonder if those wool swimsuits helped swimmers feel warmer if the water was quite cold.
Wool is helping in other way too, as it is drying nicely at body temperature.
what a handsome suit - worn by a handsome man! Bravo both of you !
Lucas is quite charming. I love how he manages to look so gallant while getting dressed. So very dapper in his suit. Good job. So that we are dressing up Lucas who's next? Maybe Merlin or one of the other kitties 😜
I completely agree, Merlin has quite the exquisite black coat. But surely even a dapper kitty such as he, deserves a bow tie or maybe even a magician's cap. After all he his a magic kitty. 😉
love the outfit, i have just started making instead of buying my historical menswear. my only recommendation is with the looser grown on waistband of historical trousers shirts can easily ride up and try and escape. best solution is a set of shirt stays, esentially a pair of suspenders you put on each thigh with clips that go up to your shirt to hold it down.
That looked very dashing on him.
We love seeing more of Lucas, more men's wear, please? Great suit.
Beautiful suit. Reminds me of my great grandfather's "Sunday go to meeting" suit but his was grayish black.
Hi Izabela, I just went to an exhibition about "the Corset War" at Dunkers kulturhus in Helsingborg, Sweden, and they had a video of you getting dressed in a 19th century costume, projected on the wall. There was no apparent credit to you anywhere in the room (although I didn't check the exhibition programme, unfortunately), so I just wanted to check with you that they actually have your permission to use that video...
This was great to see, love mens wear ...getting the inside scoop so to speak . Not sure when ill use this information but very interesting . Beautiful work Izabela and Lucas thank you for the extra details. 💞
Quite a "dandy". Lucas, very sharp...it's a fresh cool look, nice!! It's a blessing to get out and enjoy a safe environment now days. I think you are both lovely people, take care, see you next time!!😊👋
That is a gorgeous outfit! Well done 😍
Looking spiffy!
He looks great in that suit
Loved seeing men's wear. Beautiful outfit.
I love this. Men's garments don't get as much attention.
he looks magnificent ❤🏴
Fabulous look, Lucas shows it off well as usual.
"very fetching deshabille" :)
Wonder if Lucas has a punting outfit for punting at Orford a la Lord Peter Wimsey?
Wonderful video! It's always fun to see the menswear pop up in your videos from time to time. This was a very dashing look!
Has some Aschenbach vibes, although I think Death in Venice takes place in the Edwardian era, but male fashion didn't change that dractically.
thats\ looks nice I love a cream suit on men . I love a 40's cream suit silk or linen I love that look . should be more of it.
Heavens he showed a bit of underwear! Lol less than the idiots running around today with their pants to their knees.
That was really nice Izabella ;-) Great to see a man's outfit, it is very classy and so much more elegant then what is worn now !! Absolutely enjoyed watching this.
i wish men wore clothes like these regularly......
Wonderful
Thanks
the braces are beautiful!!
Very natty, sir! 😎
Very handsome.
You look marvelous, Lucas.
Izabela, when did gentlemen’s ties as we know them today come into fashion as opposed to cravats?
Zvery interesting.
Lucas is a walking green flag boy❤
19th cufflinks had two heads which differentiates them from modern ones (although I am not delving into specifics). Also, shouldn't the model be wearing a undershirt or a union suit?
Modern cufflinks also have two heads, no? As now, it varied then.
Not wearing an undershirt because of the heat.
Question - When did men start wearing undershirts? If you know.
I only know when they stopped when the Gone with the wind star took his shirt off in a movie and wasn't wearing an undershirt! It was shocking I read lol
@@jayneterry8701 I keep thinking in the late 1800's they started wearing the undershirts that looked like tank tops? for summer, I mean. But yes Clark Gable going shirtless probably was pretty shocking! LOL that was the 1930's
Depended on the season.
In the early 1800s, you wore your nightshirt as your undershirt. [And changed it as often as you could.] Sometime mid-century or a bit later, men switched to a fine wool shirt or combinations in cold months, with a woven shirt on top.
It wasn't until the mid-20th century that knit undershirts were added underneath the woven shirt.
FYI, during the American Civil War men still wore pull-over woven linen shirts. Clark Gable going shirtless was a strictly 1939 thing, as was Olivia deHaviland's make-up.
Bit of a late question, but where did Lucas get his sunglasses from? I would love a pair of similar glasses myself, but unfortunately need them in prescription strength and these days I’m so light-sensitive that I might actually prefer or require railway glasses or those special ones for patients with syphilis with sensitive eyes. No idea where to get them in Sweden though, but oh well.
No singlet or deodorant? Or a pat of scented powder under the arms?
This is just the dressing up? Probably put some on. Like how we don't watch Jim comb his hair or anything..
Not necessary.
The linen shirt is the undergarment.
Deodorant is a product of early 20th century marketing, creating a product one rarely needs. [Look up the history some time.] Especially in 1890s coastal England, a "warm summer day" would rarely get above 75°F, so no sweating unless you did vigorous exercise ... which would not be done in a summer suit.
Scent tended to be something like bay rum patted on the cheeks after shaving - with a straight razor, and I don't fault Lucas at all for not attempting that on camera!
What kind of underwear/underpants would he have worn. He wouldn't of you commando.
He could oh he wanted too but at that stage you have plain cotton or linen underpants- and in winter a warm onesie:-)
My father always wore a cravat instead of a tie for all except very formal occasions. He had a collection of beautiful cravat rings (another excuse for bling for gentlemen!) Lucas looks very suave in this outfit 👍🏻
