  • This is C. Vision's 1998 full-length video release covering BNSF's Marshall Subdivision between Sioux City, Iowa and Willmar, Minnesota, with extended coverage over the Wayzata Subdivision to Northtown Yard in the Twin Cities. In addition to the mainline coverage, we'll revisit the Corson Subdivision between Garretson and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Canton Subdivision is briefly covered as well, with a local freight captured on a trip to Harrisburg, SD. Manifest freights, grain trains, coal trains, locals, and even a taconite train, are seen traversing the rolling terrain of Iowa, South Dakota, and Minnesota. This was an exciting era on BNSF, and you'll see classic EMD and GE power in a kaleidoscope of different paint schemes. SD40-2s and GP38/39 variants rule the video, but plenty of other exotic models are captured, including GP9, GP20, GP30, SD45B, SF30C, B23-7, and C30-7. Leslie RS3K and Prime PM990 air horns are heard throughout the video on Burlington Northern locomotives, making for some easy listening as we tour the line. The Illinois Central makes a brief appearance at Wren Tower as well, with an IC GP10 leading the way. This program is the sequel to our first “Crossing The Cornbelt” video, and features many new trains and locations that were not seen in Volume 1.
    We hope you enjoy the video -and if you do, please leave a comment, give it a like, and subscribe to our channel if you haven’t done so already. More of these programs await you!

      Both railroads really did have attractive paint schemes. Repainting a locomotive with perfectly good paint doesn’t seem worth it. But that’s just how things go on the larger railroads. And they never seem to be able to get an entire fleet of locomotives painted before another new paint scheme is introduced… That seems to be how it always goes. Thank you for your comment.

    I'd like to point out a few factors for this video:
    1. This video was by far the only one that featured the most LRCX G.E'S ever caught on video. Even including the FULL opening scene with the 8112 on the Chicago-Bound gain train.
    2. This was filmed between 1996-1997? I never noticed, I always thought it was filmed between 1997-1998. If it was filmed between 1997-1998, undoubtedly it would include more NEW paint schemes like those unlettered DASH-9'S. Not to mention more of those LRCX G.E'S & CHICO'S fleet of FOUR-AXLE SPEEDSTERS from GP60'S to B40-8'S in BOTH models.
    3. If back then you decided to follow the BNSF mainline from Wilmar, MN west into the Dakota's, you'd probably see just as much variety & color in models to even more.

    • @CVisionProductions1
      @CVisionProductions1  Рік тому +1

      Hello, Colin. Those LRCX GEs were neat while they lasted. It was great to see so many out on the road during that time period. As for when the video was filmed, the production period for this program was 1996-1998. The motive power variety on the Marshall Subdivision was excellent in those years, but original Burlington Northern power still dominated. And yes, we agree about the potential for great power consists west of Willmar. The former Milwaukee Road mainline across South Dakota had very few trains in the 1990s, but certainly would have been worth a visit in that era. We’re grateful to have covered it between 2005 and 2009. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our videos.

      We appreciate the question, Kenny. Those strobe lights were one of the BN’s many innovations. They were used in the years before ditch lights. Ironically, they did not meet the requirements for ditch lights per the law, so they were all replaced by the end of the 1990s. The BN installed those strobes voluntarily, before any ditch light law became effective. Thank you for watching the video.
