Here is a pro tip from someone who has been doing this for years. Attach the strap closest to the Jeep first to keep the bike from falling on to you. On your set up you may even be able to lean the handlebars against the camper while you do so. Hard to tell if the distance and window will be ok from the video. The last thing you want is that bike falling over away from the Jeep. Also, if you want more stability and less wiggle from the bike while on the carrier, attach the straps as wide as you can to the handlebars, that few inches will make a noticeable difference. Lastly, error on having it lean towards the vehicle, fixing a bit of paint on the Jeep if it comes loose is less costly that having the bike fall the other way. P.S. When you pulled the Norden off the ramp you had a loose strap attached to the bike, if that caught on something the bike would have gone down. Take more time to inspect and insure you are clear of potential mishaps.
I suspect too, that if he loaded the front shocks a bit more, there might be less "wobble". Not sure how much pressure you can put on those square tube's tho...?
Well that's cool. I have a 600 pound rack very similar to that and a norden expedition. I figured it would be to much for hitch on my Ram Rebel ecodiesel which has added 5k airbags in the rear. It appears it would be just fine if you can do it with a Gladiator hauling a camper shell as well. Cheers
Good video and thanks for making it. Eeeek! Seems like a lot of flexing and movement, especially with the heavier Norden on there. I don't know if I'd trust it long term for something that heavy. Good point mentioning limited it to roadways and campsites while avoiding the trails.
Thanks for watching. I definitely think this rack has its limitation‘s with heavier bikes. I’ll want to stick to freeways and not so many bumps I think it’ll be useful for me when I want to bring my motorcycle to Moab with me and camp in my jeep.
You did an excellent review I couldn't be any better I mean you loaded both bikes and even took it for a spin Drive and I like how you grabbed it before you took it off and jerked on it hard thinking about getting a carrier I think I seen one a couple of years ago on UA-cam where it actually how to crank system where you could load the bike on ground level and then you would ratchet it up somehow that would be the real deal
It would be really nice on this Harbor Freight motorcycle hauler if you could take the ramp and put it on either side of the carrier so that you can unload the bike straight off the ramp from the opposite side you loaded it on right that's the way it should be so you don't have to back it down off the ramp you can load it from either side or unload it from either side by just moving the ramp
I would say no way. That rack is rated for way less weight. I feel the steel rack. I got a trade it for 600 pounds is a bit of a stretch and should not be used on heavy off Roading maybe just gravel roads and freeways and such
Damn that makes me nervous just watching. I imagine hauling with that and being clenched so tight I'd poop diamonds at the stop. Have a bike weighing right around 500, and a vehicle that can do a tongue weight of 650, but all that shaking and levering on those welds would make me nervous.

That’s what I assumed too. Too heavy.
Love my expedition!
Cool! It’s my next purchase. A carrier.
Appreciate it!

Did yours come with straps?
Thx, i was looking at this carrier for my 890 adventure r. Have you used it to carry your 901 on a long distance haul? How did it hold up? Thank you
Seen a video on UA-cam the other day where a guy lost his motorcycle when the hitch hauler Square stock snap straight off
I have the aluminum harbor freight m/c rack. I wonder if that would carry my 901?

@@nordenamerica yeah I thought it seemed a little sketchy with my Husqvarna 511 on the aluminum Harbor Freight rack
