Trust me when I tell you it gets worse. Apparently the woman with the purple hair, whatever her name is, was s*ly harassing Laito, her son, when he was a kid. They had a "relationship" lets say, which kinda explains why Laito is so fcked up...

The visual novels are a million times better than the anime. The characters all go through their own route and develop really nicely with a good conclusion, depending on which ending you take. The story is also way more complex and interesting. It actually makes you feel sad for the vampires. The anime completely destroyed all of that. It had a non-existent story, terrible one-dimensional characters and merely existed just for fanservice purposes. Ironically it was made to promote the visual novels but did such a horrendous job at it that it made people stray away from the original source material.

I am a huge dialovers fan, but I have to say, the games may be better than the anime but... they are also not 'good' by any means. The writing ranges from accidentally providing insightful commentary on trauma cycles and the effects of child abuse to absolute ludicrosity (there's a 'sexy' scene including a sewing cushion and another one involved one of the boys straight up eating a rose.)
But hey, that severe disconnect between writing quality, the banger soundtrack, and absolutely deranged scenarios are what make this franchise special

I've been given an unprecedented amount of psychic damage upon seeing this anime again, years ago in 2013 when this came out I watched it and fell into the fandom for the next....6 years maybe? That includes the GAMES which btw there's like 7 games, none translated to my knowledge even to this date (the art is stunning tho), but every 2nd game released a new family of assholes to romance.
Obviously I fell out of the fandom as I grew up, not because I didn't like it not this shit is still my bread and butter I love constant psychic damage, no its bc the fandom is just super weird and comprised almost entirely of 30 year old woman or 14 year old girls and I didn't wanna be there anymore....also the 7th game in 2019 just wasn't as cool as the last 6 in younger me's opinion XD
And everyone thinks im masochistic.. you actively seek out psychic damage lol

If you aren't already aware, season 1 of this anime follows one of the endings of the game, season 2 follows the 2nd game with a whole new set of boys
It received poor ratings, so a season 3 is prolly not coming but there's A THIRD SET of boys from the games

trust me i'm one of the few that ketp their sanity on this fandom and we all agree that the anime is I just hot steaming garbage
for Yui who in the game managed to kill them ( in her twisted way but that is not the point) on multiple occasions she fight,pushed, scream,(she managed to run away in laito's route but got cought)
as for the boys the concept is for them to be twisted and mental sick but the anime only portray their basic charactaristics
in shot the writher of DL is good on the games( at less for where I got 4th game)

I only barely got through the first season by the skin of my teeth, and even so, I initially stopped at the fifth episode because I gave up after the church scene before I pressured myself to keep going through it and SURVIVE. I haven't played the games, but my partner happily infodumped all the information I needed to know about the Sakamaki brothers, and I can safely say that I prefer the kind of characters they are from the games LKAJDKLASDALKJ

God I want to scream everytime I remember when I was 13 yo I used to RECOMMEND this anime to my friends, next to (in my opinion) THE worst reverse harem anime EVER made: Brother’s conflict. Damn it, I used to have a FB PAGE dedicated to them 💀💀 thank god I grew out of it, cause it could have turned out pretty bad for me.

Btw on the roof top episode were Laito say, "I love you ever and ever I love you despite myself whether you want me to or not I've never forgotten you your memory haunts me every moment I remember the sound of your voice your intoxicating scent I remember every thing" he was talking about his mom aka Cordelia and his relationship with his mother is disgusting and the fact he sees Cordelia as his lover not his mother anymore plus Subaru's mother is karlheniz's cousin btw karlheniz is Cordelia's and Beatrix's and Christa's husband aka the Sakamaki's father and Richter is Karlheniz's brother Richter is jealous of Karlheniz because he has more power than him and that the reason he is dating Cordelia because so he can have more power than his brother.

I did the same thing you did. I watched this show because everyone was hating on it and I was GONE. I DISAPPEARED from this world for a while. I then for some reason watched the second season and I just don’t understand. In a way, it’s the same as season one, but the way they hurt her is like worse. I know that I am…well….a _MONTH_ late, but let’s just pretend it took that long to make this dumb comment.
Anyways, since I am here…How about I give a guide on how to survive based on Yui’s perspective? (As well as calling out Yui’s stupidity and her many mistakes, I’ll try to be fair.)
Due to this being a UA-cam Comment, I am only focusing on episode one.
*Ahem.*
So, let’s start.
Yui is immediately dropped off at the mansion in the rain with her suitcase, it’s cold and she needs to get inside. (Also, wait…It was a sunny morning just 3 seconds ago, where the Hell did the storm come from?) She knocks, but no one answers, and the door opens by itself.
*Note:* This is a no-brainer, just turn around and get out. Sure, you were tasked with going into the mansion, but the door opening by itself was creepy enough, but the fact that the rain just… randomly spawned in is just a dead giveaway that you are not welcome.
Yui then enters the mansion, it’s dark and she alerts any predator that she is in the vicinity by pulling the classic “Is anyone there?”
*Note:* In case you are wondering, while it may be polite to announce your presence, it’s…..just better to stay outside, you don’t know who’s in there and it’s better to wait rather than walking in blindly. Plus, if no one answers, that’s an excuse we can use if we do decide to head back.
Yui finds a guy on the couch. So, she decides to wake him up to ask him questions, but she finds out that his body is cold, so she lays on him to feel for a pulse, to which he does not have.
*Note:* There are many better alternatives to this, one is to simply check for breathing and look to see if his chest is rising and going back down, touch the side of his neck or hand, or even just put your hand on his chest. Immediately laying on top of this random idiot is not only dangerous because you are crushing him, but also a bad look should he wake up or someone else walks in.
Then he wakes up, and grabs Yui, pinning her down to the couch as he licks her neck. (Weirdo.) He is just about to bite her when he is stopped by Reiji, who calmly tells him to let go and go back to his room. Yui immediately goes over to his side, begging for help. Reiji then dismisses Kui by then explaining that he does not know her or her father, but has a servant take her luggage.
*Note:* Now’s the time to get the fuck out. Her father clearly does not care for her as he literally sent her as a sacrifice to vampire-demon boys. But don’t just bolt yet, know where any means of escape are available and sprint when you get the chance.
Yui meets more bozos and they sexually harass her and one edgy guy punches a wall, Yui is understandably freaked out and tries to leave, but is stopped by Reiji. Oh, and one guy breaks her phone, Yui freaks out, trips, and uses her cross. Then, when she realizes that it doesn’t work, she runs around.
*Note:* Understandable on why Yui ran but at the same time, if she stayed calm, it would be possible that an exit would appear earlier. Also, there are a few weapons to be used here, such as candles, chair legs, knives, and other potential tools used to defend herself.
Then Yui dies and comes back as a vampire or something. This anime is stupid. Show over. I had to watch an entire season of Diabolik Lovers and research this shit. 😭
This was just episode one, and sure… they are vampires and all, and she wants to learn the truth………but Yui could easily slip out anytime she wants, she’s not really cooped up in the mansion all the time, so just run, not pack your stuff and just wait. It’s pretty easy if you ask me.
Did I really spend a long time making this for a video? Yes.
Was this a waste of time? Yes.
Did you read it? Probably not.
Do I regret making this? No, I love to write.
