Yes. I agree on all of this. I am a poet and I have now been fighting Long Covid for two years and a week now, and I recognize versions of this. It is as such a fascinating process of losing layers of your cognitive ability and slowly, slowly finding new ways back up into the light. There are ways to deal with this and it starts with acknowledging the limitations (I still struggle with this and keep running into walls, but I am getting better at it).
Thank you for the valuable contribution to the debate. I so wish that someone high up in the Democratic party would watch and consider this.

It was on American news that Biden is sick. They gave him a COVID test shortly before the debate to make certain it was safe. All Trump did was lie and you say he "obliterated" Biden? Not making an excuse for Biden, wish dems had another option. But being pummeled with lies with no real time fact checks from the hosts...
I wish Gavin Newsome had replaced Biden for this election. But the old man having one bad day while being sick. That is not much of a game changer.

That's because the US press is uniquely awful, firstly in it's polarisation and secondly that the diseminators of information lean overwhelmingly to one side. 9 outlets out of 10 will censor/misrepresent Trump every time. In the UK (my country) and Europe as a whole, while our media is noticeably biased to the left, it is far more balanced.

The Democratic Party didn't seem to function very well - or, indeed, democratically.
And the Republicans proved to be even less democratic, less constitutional and more populist.
I can't deny that from 2014, I was worried by Obama's foreign policy choices, and suspicious already when Hillary Clinton visited Moscow, to make a theatrical reset.
Choosing Clinton as candidate was horrific in at least two ways: it signified a confirmation of the aspiration to seek Russia's support against China, which was a bad omen for the post-WWII world order, and a movement towards a system of polical clans, so that the Bush family was no longer an exception.

Trump’s tax cuts primarily benefit(ed) the wealthier citizens and businesses as opposed to his base and the plans he has floated recently, including his bizarre and rather naive idea of eliminating income taxes and just slapping tariffs on all imports would be devastating to the average citizen, who would end up paying more taxes in the form of tariffs (which are always passed on to the consumer) and sales taxes. Biden is obviously floating ideas that will need funding, which of course always means raising taxes. He claims he can achieve his goals by raising taxes on those earning more than $400K, but those types of tax hikes never seem to actually materialize. At least not in my lifetime. I anticipate that the taxes on the average citizen will increase no matter who’s in power. From my POV the only good stance Trump ever took while in office was his economic stance on China. But that’s not enough to cancel out the negatives he brings to the table, especially his lack of any genuine policy positions. He’s an impulsive opportunist who at least had some competent advisors guiding him while he was in office. Those people are gone now and he’s surrounded by sycophants. We can’t rely on Trump to follow through on anything he is promising right now. He’ll do a 180 on anything if he thinks it is what will get him an advantage. I say this as someone who has been watching him since the 80s. Yes, I am that old.

I'm not an American, but one of the things I've found so frustrating about all this, for months if not longer now is that Biden's specific form of mental decline has been obvious for a while, but I've found raising it as an issue just results in "how dare you criticise him!?" from a lot of liberals and centrists, as if the very notion of pointing out that a guy now in his early 80s might not be up to challenging a very aggressive, and dishonest opponent is just defeatist. It's just met with "but Trump is also showing signs of mental decline" and yeah, sure, but they aren't affecting him in the same way. Biden should have stepped down, whatever his talents as a politician he's a liability now and the prospect of a vengeful and frankly, increasingly senile Trump in the whitehouse again is terrifying.

I think there's be a refusal to think about how this looks to undecided voters, Trump at his worst sounds crazy, Biden at his worst sounds like a senile old grandad you find disoriented at a bus stop. Unfortunately I think people credit Trump with being "energetic" while they look at Biden's bad days and seriously wonder if he's going to, you know, die. I'm one of those personalities who tend to catastrophise when things go the wrong way in exsistential matters such as American politics or, well, a major war in Europe. Especially as I live in Europe right next to Russia. But all these videos and chats from you keep me relatively calm and believing in hope for the future of the world. Even when I imagine an outcome where Trump wins this year, I haven't lost any sleep over that possibility or spent all my days fearing it, and I truly think it's because of you. Vlad, the problem is not simply the lies, the media and its unpreparedness for handling post truth politicians like Trump. Whatever you like to admit or not, the problem is that a large chunk of the population loves those lies, loves the style of endlessly lying. In a country where most of the population was not like that, Trump and people will not be an issue. It is the structure of society that is rotten, to the core. What concerns me for democracy is that people are trying to jail Trump and are so desperate that they are changing laws to extend the statute of limitations on crimes, using charges never before used to jail anyone or setting insanely unprecedented fines, and using summary judgments and denying him the ability to defend himself, and then claiming that they're only being fascists in order to "save democracy" from people who want to elect him democratically.

I am on the spectrum and I find the part about neurodiversity a bit problematic.
You are correct about that privacy has to step back when a person runs for a high office. But I don't see the relevance.
ADHD does not make you a bad person. It's many other reasons which disqualifie Trump.
Besides a remote diagnosis of ADHD is impossible.

I think his point was that we have to acknowledge the possibility that Trump may have ADHD in order to better understand his behavior, not that it's disqualifying or anything.

There are at least three world renowned psychiatrists and psychologists who have diagnosed Donald Trump as being a Narcissist. At least one has made a hour long video detailing precisely why, and goes as far as to determine "malignant narcissist" as the actual precise diagnosis.

Vlad's take atypically was way off imo. I don't know what's up but his analysis on the debate was terrible. Biden was slow to start, and had one terrible answer where he lost his train of thought. The rest Biden was good on substance, made sense, perhaps tried to quote too many numbers and get too much in at times, but compared to trump, he was golden. trump as usual came off as a raging narcissistic conman, whom was so disconnected with reality it really doesn't make any sense debating him. It's like debating a fantasy sci fi novel. It's impossible. trump lives in an alternate universe where I assume he's not a liable rapist nor a felon.
