This is a track I used to race at in the 125 class. On a state-of-the-art Suzuki 125 TM 1974. I worked as a track worker and a flagman on Sundays I was not riding.
Just happened upon this video. My first ever pro race and all the stars were there. Bob was on the gas. I remember on the parade lap the riders had their helmets off and Marty’s hair was way past his shoulders. I was a 14 yr old kid from Kentucky and was just star struck by my hero’s !
A few very short clips of Rich Eierstedt #11 on the HD. Rich lived across the street from my family and I. I was 12 when he moved in. He said the Harley's would go fast as hell for a couple of laps and then the engines would just give up. HD paid him cash to ride those bikes.
@@dirtydave2691 Ran across this again and saw your comment. Back when Rich and Billy Grossi rode for Honda I thought they we’re the coolest. Rich lived a pretty hard life from what I have read.
@@jeffcherry1643 Like a lot of his young fellow racers, Rich liked to party. I knew Rich's brother Mom and Dad too. They were really nice hardworking blue collar people. Rich got me in to Saddleback free a few times after school to practice. I also got to ride Gaylon Mosier's works KX 410, a brand new Maico 490 mega 2 and his C&J framed XR 500. All of this before I was 16! He was a really nice person and super cool to me. He was 10 years older than me but took me along to all kinds of fun stuff. I think of him every time I go riding. I stayed in touch with him through email until shortly before his passing.
@@dirtydave2691 Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you had a pretty good moto childhood ! Did you ever meet Grossi ? I would like to see a good interview with him. I'm 59 yrs old and ar'ent you glad , as I am myself, to have grown up in this era ?
I raced here in 1975, 250 class, loved this track, Those old bikes only had 4 or 5 inches of wheel travel, they would beat you to death, We loved it anyway.LOL
I was there with buddy then road at track for few years. End of life the track was rough but knew every rut in time. Thanks for memories
