My friend(who was from Sweden) told me when he was in school(in Sweden)he was not allowed to sing the Swedish national anthem because it was considered 'racist' and 'offensive' towards the immigrants which attended his school and this was years before this refugee crisis. I pray for Sweden and its culture after this.

+MattWizo That is true, I wore a shirt with the Swedish flag and some teacher told me to take it off, because it was offensive. Later on some immigrants told me to take it of and called me a racist

I live in Sweden, one of the most immigrant flooded countries in Europe. I have spooken to many immigrants who say that if they knew what the journey across the meditererian ment, they would have stayed. Alot of people that don't want them here, their muslim culture don't mix with ours, especially when it comes to women. Alot of teen immigrants do petty crimes. Half of them that I have met are cooky and rude, and they make racist remarks.
The suburbs with a high immigratan population (around 90%) have become a "battlefield". Journalists, Police, any sort of government people have to report when they go to these places, because they have been attacked.
A group of immigrants refused to live in the place they were sent to, because they wanted to live in the city, not a village in the forrest, which is stupid since a majority of Sweden is forrest.
We have run out of places to put the immigrants, and are forced to build tents for them, which can't be nice, and it's expensive to keep them here.
With all of this in mind, do you really think that it good to take in too many immigrants. We don't want them, they don't want us. If you are against it, you're labeled a racist. If you comment about their culture, they take offence and the P.C mob comes running after you. Why can't we just handle them like we did when the Finns and Baltics came during WW2, they were given jobs that were needed, hard labor jobs, to show the rest of the population that they were of use, didn't matter if they wanted it or not.

Drifter my opinion, probably you won't even read this but eh this is an opinion of a Dutch guy.
I live in the Netherlands and we have had immigration problems the decades. But since the civil war in Syria it hasn't been as bad as it is now. Former army bases are now fugitives camps, public transport is overwhelmed with fugitives, etc. That's the situation at the moment. For us, people in the Netherlands it wasn't like this when the refugees stayed in Jordan and Turkey, but because the integration program and the discrimination they decided to enter Europe, thats when the crisis started. (BTW Russia bombs not entirely randomly, Russia wants Assad (Syria's president) to stay president while NATO wants him gone. So NATO supports the rebellion, and bombs IS and Assad, while Russia bombs the rebels and IS. Nice controversy on top of the ice cream
The general opinion of the Dutch people is pretty shocking, but also understanding. We want them gone, with we I don't necessarily include myself, but I do agree with some of the points the general population makes. If you register yourself in the Netherlands you get a free 500 Euros from the government. Most of the fugitives buy a phone with a contract immediately. On top of that health care for them is free. Thats more so how our society works. We got a great but expensive health care system, which make the taxes awful. This refugee crisis will probably increase the taxes too, thats me guessing though. And even with the free money and health care they re unsatisfied, I see daily posts on Facebook how awful the refugees situation here is, the food is not good enough, they want a TV, they don't got enough privacy, the tents aren't comfortable etc. Just complains when we're trying to help them. Thats the disgust i have against them. They aren't happy with what we are giving them.
Most of the fugitives are male, most of them even young males (between 20-40). They have an entirely different culture and they don't adapt immediately to our norms and values. (I understand that of course but that is still a problem). This huge oversupply of moslim man with a few women in the camps results to rape. This is a real big issue in Germany. In those camps rape is an ordinary thing. (this disgust me the most).
A solution? I don't really have one. They keep coming and its hard for them to adapt immediately. There are two options. Help them out or send them back. Sending back is not really an option because they're war fugitives and if we were in the same position as they were, we would like to be helped by them. The other option in my mind is to help them. However i don't mean with that, giving them free money and health care. But educate them with our norms and values. So they can integrate in our society or at least know that rape and discrimination against women isn't a ordinary thing here. Let them taste the freedom we have here.
If you read this Drift0r I would love to read your reply :)

The worst thing about racism in the UK (where I live) is that the government frequently supports negative stereotypes of immigrants as benefit-scroungers or terrorists. In reality, it's these immigrants that work the hardest whilst so-called 'patriots' take benefits and use the whole 'they took out jeerrbss!' excuse. I really enjoy these serious videos, they raise a lot of important discussion and (hopefully) educate people, so thanks!

To listen, understand, and learn about other cultures is terrible. While most of Europe believes in God, these anti christ religions come and spread false teachings. Hey drift!
First of all props to you for doing that video. So far i have not seen any other youtuber talking about that crisis even those who live in europe. I am 16 years old and live in Austria. It is a country underneath Germany so you could say i am in the middle of the crisis. In the past few month over 600 000 refugees traveld to austria. Unfortunately the germans decided to take not more than 2000 humans per day. The problem is that arround 7000 refugees come to austria per day ! The current situation is that more than 200000 refugees are "stucking" in my country! In comparisin with the population of 8 mio are these very high numbers which are constantly getting bigger and bigger! Moreouver i have to day that only a half are comming from syria!
Ps: sorry for that long comment, but i really wanted to write this because the situation is very tense. My english is not that good so i hope there are not many mistakes! I really like your videos. I am looking forward to new Bo3 vid

I live in London so this is directly affecting me, here's my two cents. At this point in time i feel that immigration is a good thing for the eu, immigrants take the majority of the low paying jobs which frankly no one wants, will work longer hours and for less money. It also adds cultural diversity to the eu. I do feel however, if the number of immigrants increases at the rate it is today, we are going to have a severe problem, many will have to live off of benefits comming out of the tax payers pocket, like drift0r said unfortunately there may be a rise in terrorism.
like drift0r I feel somewhat sympathetic for the refugees in areas like Syria, however I feel that the eu has to know when we can't take anymore immigrants/refugees or we are going to have a severe problem.
feel free to leave your thoughts in the form of a reply.

Ahhhh, I've got a lot of different opinions on this topic but I'll be brief... living in England I fully realize whats going on right now with Syria, and fully understand the crisis that is leaving many vulnerable people such as families in a high risk zone which they once could have considered their home. And as much as it would be an amazing step to solving the crisis to take on 100's of 1000's of refugees, do Europe, especially England, have the room, budget etc. to take on so many people? Fair enough if we were in a perfect economic state with jobs flowing like theirs no tomorrow, but we have people who study at university for years to come out and get no jobs people who spend every awake hour trying to find a job to support their family, and with a 5.4% unemployment rate that doesn't seem to be budging, how is it fair on everybody else that other people are allowed into the country and sweep up all the jobs they can. Or on the other hand, like Drift0r said, they can't work so begin claiming benefits. The UK benefit system is already sub-par so having more people having to claim would cause a meltdown. These are just a few points, but in general I think that we should get our country sorted out first before we take on such a large responsibility of the refugees.

    • @alphatyrant8677

face it. Europe and the United States will probably suffer an economic collapse within 20 or 30 years. our debts are too high and with the immigrants and local freeloaders sucking money off the government, the money will dry up.

payz hayz just imagine if America collapses. When it happens, the world is screwed. Despite what others want to think, the dollar is still the basis for the world economy. America has 17+ trillion dollars in debt. We can't sustain it and neither can Europe. Sadly our civilizations will most likeky fall and with it the rest of the world. I don't mean to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it is inevitable. The refugee crisis only compounds the issue by taking jobs and flipping the social demographic of the region.

The only countries that will benefit from this are countries where noone can be botherd to migrate to, and the people who do migrate will be rich and skilled. Dude I feel for Greece the most, I love Greek people and Greece in general (I've been there once, and they were amazing people with an excelent culture)and they will get the most refugees no mather what, because they are really close to Syria...
Germany keeps shitting on them instead of actually helping them (per usual) , but the germans are not the "bad guys" in this case because some countries in east of europe(like Hungary and Polska) are actually closing their frontiers and building walls to stop the refugees from coming in to their country ...
But I think we will find a way to work around this(like you said) and I hope that Greece can somehow benifit from this.
    Great video as always :)

If they are fleeing from war, why are they travelling through about 7+ war free countries to get to Germany or similar?
Why not stop somewhere in Eastern Europe, or even richer Arabic countries such as Dubai, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia or similar? They have the same culture and religion, etc. there?

A lot of countries frown upon immigrants in the middle east, and yes there are rich countries but also the cost of living is very high in some countries and with that said, they're obviously not entering the country with a medical degree. a low paying job in a high cost of living area causes them to immigrate again

For the most part this video is true HOWEVER, it's blown wayyy out of proportion. There are places in the UK that have very high immigrant populations but the majority of the country is still intact and remains the same. Places such as London, Birmingham and Manchester received the majority of the immigrants from the 60's - 90's and places were I live it'd be pretty unusual to see an immigrant especially of Arab descent. The refugee crisis hasn't really hit the UK, it's hit Germany and Sweden much harder

Driftor I completely agree with you. I live in the Netherlands and the refugees come in with 1000s at a time. There are towns with 2000 citizens, where thousands of refugees wil come to. And this is not only bad because most of the refugees went to college and had great jobs, but so many people don't have anywhere else to go. My sister works at a refugee transfer post, where she as a lawyer will hear the refugees out and decide if they can stay or not. She hears so many awful stories, but also stories of people who are lying! This will definitely lead to big changes for the EU, and yes, our cultures will suffer. In my town where i live old and beautiful buildings are broken down to make space for a mosque, or for flats. This crisis has its positive and negatieve effects, and all we can do is to wait and see what the goverments decision is going to be. Thank you for reading :)

Driftor, not all of them will take the "janitor" kind of jobs. A lot of syrians are very smart and high educated. There are lots of surges (the guys that do surgery, idk XD). These people are good for europe. 95% of the immigrants are in neighboor countries like turkey and countries around there. In the netherlands we are taking as much as we can, but this caused a "civil war" (obviously not a real one but protests and groups are attacking immigrants). But people arent thinking straight. Immigrants are great. Not only will they help because they are often high educated, they will all need homes. These houses need to be built. This will cause free work space so all the immigrants can get work immediatly! Also a lot of people are scared that the muslims will take over. But in whole europe 4 million immigrants (lets assume they are all muslim) will only increase the muslim percentage by about 3%. So why the heck would we not take immigrants. They will go back to syria once its safe there!

    Hey drift0r,
i really appreciated your video about the crisis. I think you made fair points about the issue . I would like to add though that the main reason europe is facing these problems now is because most of the rich golf states just refuse to take refugees into their own land and just blocking any real help. I want to emphasise that i am not talking about lebanon or jordan in that context, they are doing all they can.
Furthermore i am surprised in a fun way that it is so unbelievable that different european countries have different ways of acting or doing things. They are different countries for that reason. And i am courious Drift0r. Is there no differance in caracter in different US states like say texas and illinois just as an example (I know there is a differance between being a state in a country or just being another country).
To end this . Keep up the good work Drift0r , especially videos like this.
    Greetings
    A Fan from Germany ^^

And, cold is something you have to get used to the moment you go north of the Baltic. Also, I can't believe that many have been complaining about the food. Hi, I'm a 15 (almost 16) year old dutch person and I want to show my perspective on the immigrant problem.
Half of all the people from Syria have fled their country or have gone to another part of it.
According to research only 30% of the ones who flee, flee for IS(IS) 70% flee for Assad (the corrupt dictator of syria)
I don't think this is a problem, as long as the immigrants don't try to change our culture, which is the case right now.
I sincerely hope that those who flee try to adapt and at the end of the war there go back to their own country and live their own life.
They probably won't though, because they will have integrated in their new society by then.
(Or we have adapted to theirs XD)

I personally wouldn't mind an influx of foreign people coming to the UK, I think that the extra hands would help get houses and school built, But what I don't agree with and this doesn't speak for everyone is different cultures imposing their own laws and procedures, I believe that if you go to a country for safety and to better yourself you shouldn't forget your own culture because that is ridiculous but embrace the culture of the country you choose to reside in. For example I am British and if I moved to Texas for example, I wouldn't forget how I lived back in the UK but I would happily partake in American traditions such as "Thanksgiving" Who knows where it will be in 15 years. Excellent video.

I live in a sparsely populated area of Sweden and we have in the region of 100-120 refugees here, so they make up almost 1/5 of the population. Just recently they started using an old prison to house another 200 not far from here, pretty much every unused house is rented for them and there's actually talk about having regular people taking in refugees into their private homes, with some celebrities already doing so to lead by example.
We're having a PC culture here that's running out of control like a positive feedback loop.

To be honest, I don’t understand the Problem. Sweden is a huge country with very few people loving in it.
In comparison, in Germany there are over 10x as many people per square kilometre (22 in Sweden, 227 in Germany), but Germany manages to keep housing prices low.
Sweden is an expensive country on general. But that’s not a Problem of space.

MikelG00 Just because we have "unused space" doesnt mean that we have a lot of unused buildings or it is easy or cheap to just build houses for thousends of people. Buildning houses in sweden is very expensive for several reasons one being safety regelations

I leave in germany in a small state called saarland. Saarlands population is 1.4 Million and we have received in the last years 80k refugees. The jobs are getting less and less, and we never experienced a robbery in our area and in the last month there has been multiple one's. The schools are getting problems because in each of our class we have at least 1 refugee and they need extra teachers and that costs. I understand that they can't live in they're countries but we can't handle ALL of them.

  • @RedZeee
    @RedZeee 9 років тому

Living in Germany, I can definetly say that it is too much. At the first point, it was said to be about 400,000 refugees per year, now experts are talking about 1,000,000 for this year already. It already got to a point where the health insurance will become more expensive by the end of the year and some of the sport halls from some of the schools around are closed because they put refugees into those. The students cannot have physical education.
I totally understand why the refugees want to come here and this is by no means racist. If the German population suddenly increased by 1 million per year, it would cause exactly the same problems. The issue is just that this is way too much to take.
Sweden and Germany are taking the biggest part of the refugees, while some other countries have not accepted a single one. We really need to learn how to allocate them properly to all countries. Sure, no country can be forced to take refugees. It will cause trouble for the rest nonetheless. This will hurt the wallet immensly in the next years.

It's not a problem in the UK, we're too far away for the primary waves of immigrant's to reach us. On top of that, there are some extremely closed minded people in the UK, and the government and current political state doesn't help right now either. I would love to welcome more immigrants from Syria, but it won't happen unfortunately.

Do you know what the 4 million + Syrian refugees didn't have when the conflict began? The right to bear arms. As much as some people demonize guns in the U.S., they fail to see the correlation of lack of guns in instances like this, where people are unable to defend themselves from tyrannical governments and extremist organizations.

I'm glad you made the video - I didn't think Americans cared about the news, especially international news. However, it's obvious we were looking at Europe through American eyes. Not your fault, in fact, I commend you for trying to be as objective as you were.
It's a very bad situation. But not one that we can say that we have no part to play in. If anything the US and NATO nations should be taking in the refugees. After all they destabilised the regions. Not to say the regions were amazing places or good places to live in, but people weren't fleeing the country for their lives.
The media helps a lot in this instance. They push this negative stereotype of 'immigrant' - especially in the UK. However immigration in our country contributes to tax payment and also GDP. Even the way you called them immigrants instead of refugees. They lose a lot of humanity in that sense. That's what I think this whole situation is lacking - humanity.

Another European opinion: I'm a hungarian. We gladly shelter those in need of shelters if they respect our culture. That sad thing is most of thes refugees do not respectour country, culture or even our people. There are immigrants who demand more and more and more, when most hungarians would not get the things they get would they be in need.
    I'm genuinly scared.

Driftor, the spanish are not invading texas....Spanish people would be considered European. If you're talking about south american and mexican immigrants, then yes, there is a problem there but there are many more factors to it than just using up jobs and benefits. Illegal immigrants don't qualify to get benefits from the country.....Legal immigrants earned their benefits by paying taxes and using them.

they call the French City of Strasbourg the Heart of the EU but still, Germany has to take to so many refugees and other countries will take care of only tens of thousands. that's insane, the gyms of schools get emptied to get new places for the refugees to live in while they're waiting for their asylum to be approved, I'm a volunteer firefighter and I wanted to learn technical support but the course got cancelled because the building was emptied for refugees, my sister doesn't have physical education lessons over this winter because the gym is emptied. it's a mess here and no other country is ready to take care of even remotely as many people.

yeah, I'm a German and for a long time i thought refugee issues won't be a thing around my area.. but with time passing the increasing amount of African people seeking refuge in out country starts to stress our local politics and with winter approaching, it's gonna ve very expensive for them to finance fair accommodations. thus there're a lot of controversial discussions about whether to keep refugees or send them back.. because on some points they are really overwhelming us.

I am from Holland and I totally agree with everything you say about Europe and it's different cultures, the only problem is that most of them are not Syrian refugees but economical refugees from other countrys claiming they had something to do with the war or claiming they have lost their pasports during the 'war', if you really were to be in a war zone you described you would be more than happy to stay anywhere in europe and not having to travel further through europe towards germany/uk/holland/denmark where the cultural differences are even bigger, they only go there because we have regulations 'forcing' use to give them a house and money, while if you are a real victim of war that wouldnt be your first concern. It's not like we have anything against refugees here in europe but we just can't use the economical refugees at this moment.
    Peace

So what if our cultures are different?!?! Different culture is better than sitting in a grave.

There are enough Hispanics and Muslims here as is. How many of our own people still lack jobs? How many of our own veterans remain homeless? The US cannot afford any more. I'm glad Florida denied the refugees Passage. When we sort out our own problems, then maybe we should reconsider.

I think that if you go to another country you should adapt to the customs of that country and the fact that some people don't just annoys me...
