How could anyone not love Tug McGraw. I actually played one year of semi pro with him in Delaware. He was the most fun guy... this is really exactly who he is. Amazing man. Love him!
That was priceless! RIP ♥ Tug, what a lovely memory this left me with. VH1 should take lessons on what a true "Storyteller" is. Thanks for posting ♦ it is a gem!
God bless the Tugger, a terrific storyteller, and a heart-stopping closer-simply the best. The exciting ‘80 series, where all six games went down to the wire, was noteworthy in that all four Phils wins were punctuated by game-ending strikeouts, and McGraw had 3 of those big K’s. One for the ages.
Here's a neat bit of trivia for you.. Sandy Koufax lost two games ever against the Mets. One in 65, another in 66. The starting pitcher both games? You guessed it: Tug McGraw. Two of the 39 games McGraw started in his career.
Tug McGraw was a character but also a damn good pitcher. Great storytelling Tug left us way too soon. And as it has been said need more guys like this in today's game. RIP Tug
‘You gotta believe’...I caught Tom Power’s Q interview of son Tim on CBC radio the other day. Oh to have had a Dad like this fellow who despite his absence came through when it mattered. Baseball is a bond America needed from the first inning and now that the country looks to becoming unglued, let’s remember a guy like Tug - you gotta believe. Tim, I’m sure you’re as proud of him as he was of you.
Interesting how the Cubs got all the attention for not winning the World Series since 1908...it took the Phillies 97 years just to win even ONE World Championship (and only two NL championships (1915, 1950) before that!!
Tug McGraw was one heck of a character. It's too bad there aren't many like him today. He was something special!
