It's always easier to say afterwards, but probably those two missed/forced 3s by Donovan were a mistake. Like Garland tried to show him, there was more than enough time on the clock to still come back with 2s. But anyway, two very smart plays by JC to get his team the win.
Players today dont do much of 2s anymore, they prefer hail mary 3s that looks cool.
garland aint the best shooter also, but you are right to many forced 3 at the end of the game

The second foul I'd give or take. It's a tough call. The first one though... Just how much leeway does the shooter get on a 3? Clarkson might as well have been playing hop scotch at that point. A flagrant on top of that? Refs ruining games once again.
They're getting so much bolder now that they can just throw players out the game if they so much as raise an eyebrow at them in response to a bad call.

I believe it was called an Flagrant 1 not because of contact but Clarkson's space to land after taking the shot was invaded by the defender. Doing so can lead to serious ankle injuries which is why the Nba is pretty strict about that.

clarkson's jumper landed into LeVert's landing space on that 2nd one. how do the refs expect a defender to defend a jump shooter when they land 4-5 feet past where they took the shot?
this is today's nba. refs artificially making games close. if the jazz were up, the refs probably would have called an offensive foul on clarkson for kicking his legs out or leaning back into levert.
2nd one is clear cut foul. first one is the new rule.

How is that a foul and let alone a flagrant? 1:15 He jumps from behind the line and almost landed at the top of the key, that is a lot of distance to be considered a normal shot motion

I mean, the shot motion is normal. He's too weak with type of fast step back to launch the 3 he has to kick his feet forward. However, if he takes that type of shot then he is jumping into the defenders space and it should not be called a foul let alone a flagrant. When people land like that their body is angled and there is little concern for them rolling their ankle because they are falling to the ground. The refs/league just don't understand. The flagrant in that case is made for situations that are dangerous for the jump shooter, which is when they jump straight up and down.
the 2nd shot he lands 4-5 feet past where he shot it, the 3rd shot he leans back to initiate contact with LeVert. horrible calls.
Both of these calls were reviewed and still… feels so unfair for the defender, rules and foul baiting pretty much force you to give up an open three or foul
