@Apollo Ali I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
It’s nice to see you enjoy and play the console you’ve just restored 😊 I do prefer when there are voiceovers but I enjoyed this video because of the simplicity of the device and it was self explanatory.
"I just think they're probably one of the nicest Nintendo looking devices ever made" Couldn't agree more mate. They're the type of device that very little can go wrong with, and even less that can't be put to rights. Even the broken latches on the multi-screen games are fixable with a bit of effort. My personal favourite is the same as yours, Donkey Kong. They are beautiful devices to get hold of. It really does prove that fancy graphics or fast paced gameplay aren't what make a good game. Excellent restoration. You are what first inspired me to collect and restore. Keep it up!
I recently purchased a batch of 14 G&W. All with stained screens on the back. I'm fixing everyone, at the same time it's becoming therapy for me. My last major repair was a Gameboy Light belonging to a good friend of mine who collects video games. I removed the silver back film from a Gameboy Pocket screen and inserted it into the GBL without any film and the result was perfect. Thanks for sharing so much good content Eliot. I'm always following your channel. congratulations. Felipe Martins from Brazil.
@@Mrjk442 let me tell you something: The Baby Boomer generation spanned from 1946 to 1964 / 1966 (the exact end date isn't very clear, but it's either of them). He/she is most likely one of those. So no, not even close.
Just stumbled across this video-I really enjoyed it. I'd love to have a go myself at refurbishing a beaten down GAME & WATCH, there's just something so satisfying and therapeutic about repairing something from that state to something that looks almost new. Great stuff!
That was only the first level, it has 8 levels in total. When you save the real Princess Peach, Bowser gets thrown out of his castle in the top right corner.
I got one of these for Christmas in 1988. It made so many long car journeys fun (as long as there was light). I still have mine to this day. Yours came out amazing after the clean. I may give mine a little brush up now.
Loved this video! I usually speed up to 2x to watch a bunch but I kept this one at 1x and actually really enjoyed the ride. And thanks giving a couple minutes to play around with it at the end! I actually had this game growing up but it was in the shape of a miniature game boy on a keychain, I think it was a "Nintendo Mini Classic" and they were available at the dollar store for quite a bit, but it was the same exact game as this! Anyway, a lot funner than I would have guessed!
music is fire in this one man👌 great work. keep it up. you’ve been doing great lately. I always get so excited to see one of your videos have been uploaded. love the game and watch reminds me of the games i play on my Ti-83
Yeah he's either implying game and watch in general started it, or he's hosting a video game channel while completely ignorant about the history, or he's doing some weird lying brag thing...
A lot of good things in this video. It was enjoyable just watching a build with just some music playing. Fun seeing classic consoles. Most importantly though, the ending. Seeing the genuine happiness playing this console made it the best for me. I know you said the views don’t really jump for this console, but you still wanted to do it cause YOU enjoy it. Seeing you enjoying it made me enjoy it.
U are absolutely right that game and watch is fantastic. I love how u retrobright the plastics which I will try to do it on mine. Keep up the good work and stay healthy! Cheers!
Just subscribed. Can't believe there are other people who love Game and Watch. BTW it was good of you to mention Gunpei Yokoi, he was the one I think who spelled out Nintendo's ethos that you described, of using older technology to innovate. Strange but cool concept. Hard to pull off, but Nintendo has managed to keep doing it over the years.
Nice job sir! That game brings back good memories, my childhood buddy used to have this one and balloon fight (think it was called) in the late 80's/early 90's. Myself I had the Zelda game, but it stopped working at some point and got lost in the rubble. For all I know it still in a box in my parents attic!
Hi Elliot, have you thought of looking for some of the Nintendo mini classic game & watch keyring versions? There are some unique titles available in this format including Star Trek, Harry Potter, football etc. there are loads on ebay
2:32 Actually, a good portion of the G&W games are about pattern recognition, like with BALL, BOXING, DONKEY KONG, RAIN SHOWER, and others. 6:54 I'd watch you restore and talk about Game & Watch games for an hour...I love these LCD games. They may not of been cutting-edge as far as tech goes but for what they do, it's fantastic, plus there's so many of them, it's a subject that would have lots of hours' worth of discussion... So yes, more, s'il vous plait. Also, grats on completing the first few levels. Some G&W games are really difficult...like _Mario's Cement Factory_ and _Oil Panic_ to name a couple.
I think I would actually prefer the voice-over, but it works either way! Beautiful video. Just a quick suggestion, I would love to see some side-by-side before and after shots for these types of videos. Seeing the end result is so satisfying when it’s compared directly next to the old, grimy version!
The grey rubber buttons (similar to START/SELECT from the Game Boys) are retrobrightable as well! I usually just submerge the yellowed parts in hydrogen peroxide gel and they're back to their original color after only half an hour in sunlight. You should definitely give it a try!
Elliot... just because something is a "handheld" doesn't mean it can't be a console. From Wikipedia: "A video game console is a computer device that outputs a video signal or visual image to display a video game that one or more people can play". A Game Boy is a video game console, and at least by my interpretation of the definition, so is a Game & Watch. It's just the little details in your videos that I can't help but correct sometimes :P
I love those little things, my favourite is with the wolf that catches eggs, the nice thing with it is that it has 4 buttons, 2 on each side, other games only has 2, one each side.
If you beat the 8 levels and get to 2-1, enemies start showing up. If you hold Jump, then press and let go of Game, you start on 3-1 with the enemies enabled. I got one of those for Christmas when I was in second grade...but I only got to enjoy it for about a month before some kid stole it from my desk during recess. Even though I only had it for a short time, it was the coolest thing I'd ever owned!
You can reverse sun damage on shells by submerging them in 3% hydrogen peroxide and shining UV light on them (uv ledstrip). Keep them in the solution under the uv light for 12 hours, change around every 3 hours for even lighting. Pretty much all sun damage is gone after this treatment!!
