Bullying is so WRONG... You can never under estimate that actions based on you experience Mr. Coz every person is different. And most of the bullying have really a NEGATIVE results... It makes you stronger maybe because you became a Bully yourself. So, I agree with the cancellation of the TWINS to give lessons and message to all young generations who are bullying out there to stop, think, listen and Change.

Man I get your point but what about the victims who are traumatized for the whole life? You won't forget easily when someone threatens you with a freaking knife?
Also don't you see the hypocrisy of these volleyball sisters? They were complaining about them getting bullied. One of them even said the one who gets bullied is in pain while the bully might have fun.
Everyone should get a second chance, yes. But in the Korean society bullies have gotten away so easily. This needs to be changed. I am glad these people are getting what they deserve.

      Sorry for the late reply.
It seems after doing more research about bullying here, it seems MUCH more extreme than bullying I've faced (or even heard of in the US) and there is a chance it might traumatize some.
As far as the knife, I'd be curious to know how serious it was, there's someone pulling a knife on you as a joke or in a non-truly threatening way, and then there's someone pulling a knife in a truly threatening way (eg street muggings).
I'm all for punishing them for their current bullying and of course finding a way to eliminate school bullying (which might be difficult with the 후배/선배 hierarchical system in Korean society), but a life ban from volleyball seems like a death sentence.

@@RightOnKorea No worries. I think I was being too emotional while I was commenting. Sorry about that. The knife thing was not a joke for sure.
Yes, banning them for LIFE, I wouldn't go for that either. But some type of less stronger punishment I think they deserve it.

It is very easy to judge the Lee twins and forget how the Korean training system is and the strict hierarchy based on the age at which they move. It is a kind of mafia to the point of absurdity, in my opinion much more stark than the Japanese one, and makes abuse possible as a positive thing if it aims ""to put the junior on the straight path"".
In that culture, I find myself unable to judge the twins, especially when they had the addition of an obsessive mother who trained them to exhaustion. It is not difficult for me to imagine how they would translate their seniority with their high school volley teammates.
What is being experienced with them is a very Pharisee-like public lynching. It seems that they will be the washing machine of the system, because it will not change and the abuses will continue to occur.
That is why I believe that they do not deserve death in life or exile. Wouldn't the public repentance and rehabilitation be better off? They are very famous figures, instead of burying them, why not use them for real against the problem of harassment?

Korean bullying issues are like domino effect. Not just twins case, but all the bullying cases by public figure/famous person. Because when bullying issue comes out, the society goes to stoning them, spreading hate comments and burying them like they've no chance to the future. I think this one of hundred reasons why bullying case in Korea can't be eradicated. The people it self. It's just my opinion btw, sorry for being rude (maybe).

Koreans tend to more accept being under hierarchical pressure and more follow authority. This might be a reason bullying happens even in adult society. I agree that twins are somehow victimized by social sentiment or bipolar hatred, but our society needs a strong signal to root out school bullying especially in athlete society. ANYway, they were my favorite players, it is a shame not to see them playing.

    • @RightOnKorea
      @RightOnKorea  3 роки тому +1

Right, examples need to be set to root out bullying. Hopefully the twins learn a lesson from this and are also able to continue playing volleyball. I suppose another country can recruit them if they are banned forever in Korea.

    • @bhs2478

Forget the past and the twins have apologized to the victims. There must be forgiveness and reconciliation. The twins will be surely recruitted by other countries because banned by kovo and their clubs. Fighting twins and donot give up.

Korean society is highly based in Confucius / Neo-Confucius philosophy, which despite its positives also impart a very strong sense of hierarchy (ie: sunbae/hubae, or obsession over age differences in social contacts). This also transfers to all aspect of Korean society, especially in organized settings like a school/team/workplace. I think this emphasis on superior/inferior social positions predisposes the Korean social milieu to develop a form of bullying to an extent that is rare in other societies (ie Western ones) where it is relatively more egalitarian and age/seniority is not as important in social interactions. I think it just comes with the territory in more hierarchal societies like Korea.

Good points, very true...Things are slowly changing e.g. nowadays employees have more rights in the workplace such as not working as much overtime and also not having to go to 회식s (at least ones that were planned same day). It'll take some time, but I think we're headed in the right direction

And keep giving unpleasant gesture to the player that you yelled often due to not giving you the ball, during scoring celebration and you also still complaining that you didn't get enough ball distribution While actually you already top scorer for local player and your club is in top position in the League at that time..

Their careers deserve to end. Period. You can’t bully other people (not to mention along with gaslighting) and expect to get away scot free with an apology. Plus they are athletes, represent a country, no way they can recover at least for a while.

I don't think they should get off scot-free, but I also don't think their careers should end. They're probably a symptom of ingrained hierarchy and bullying system, not the disease. Hopefully this is a humbling wake-up call for them, and they become activists against bullying.
