You totally miss the fact that they are kids toys , made for kids, and should be left on the pegs for kids, moms of kids. If you want to be a "collector" start with vintage redlines, blackwalls etc. Also note that when you are highlighting the " real collector" they open them, more like a big kid, and they buy loose as loose has value, unlike the mythy of keep them in the package, yall do that and well your collection will be nice but not valuable after 30 years let alone 20, as no one cares about a car/blister after the first month. Scalpers are the same as collectors who buy multiples to resell .... just one decides to keep for themselves but still gouge the crap on the resell, keeping the cars out of the market they were meant for... kids... moms with kids... those who are needed to actually make the system work...... Hot wheels fell apart 3 decades ago..... Not been in the hobby, just came back for the memories, memories are worth more... and you can chase a memory, but not if you dont have one. No kid has a memory of a car in a package on a wall, it doesnt stick, nor a memory of a car an adult hoarded or scalps... Thats where the hobby breaks, adults stealing from children and its a 3 decade old problem
Very very true and yes, I left out a bunch of information on what it is to collect. My goal was to talk about the struggle most collectors are feeling, but to understand the why. You mentioned a lot of great points!!! I'm going to pin this post, thanks!
That's not true fellas. There are cards that read 14+, and the RLC was designed for the adult collector. I'm all for it, and would like to use facts as our ammo. If we're gonna take it back, it's gotta be the honest way.
Very true there too Walter! We understand that there are the collectible adult items, same as nascar, but I was talking more on the "mainline basic toy isle cars" designed for kids really.
When I was a kid I was happy just to get a new hot wheel. I knew adults had the nicer looking ones with real riders and chrome paint but whenever I had got one I lost it. They were just toys. Let the adults have the STH and rlcs because as a kid I would smash up and lose hot wheels all the time.
I was born in 74. Growing up we played with my uncles old toys at my grandmother's. Lo and behold he had original sweet 16s from 68. I remember using the orange tracks and having them go over the coffee table and having the releaser be attached to a book shelf next to the console tv. It wasn't until 2020 when I moved in with my ailing dad that I started collecting. I try not to take multiples of the desirable. When I see a super or chase I grab so I can trade for the supers I want. I don't agree with everything the first post says but I get it. I don't know how you stop scalping buy here is to hopping.
I wish people would stop worrying about how much it's worth....if you really need to know how much every car is worth, You should collect money instead
When it comes to online purchases like ebay and others, I tend to only go looking for older items, not current ones as that tends to keep the scalpers out of the results. Anything in the last year, I look for in stores, older than a couple years I look at flea markets, online, and such.
What nobody talks about is the cost to sell on platforms like eBay. If you just want your money back let's, say a .99 Mainline you would have to sell it for $8.94 to cover shipping and the eBay fee. And that does not cover your shipping supplies bubble wrap, tape, boxes your time and gas to to drop off at the post office.
That's also very true, but we know that comes into affect. I'm just talking the price before shipping. I've purchased a car off ebay for $3 understanding the shipping was $6. But knowing that the car itself was cheap for what it was (vintage) made it worth sacrificing shipping cost
good point not to mention the cost of people claiming they never recieved the items. The best solution to scalping is toymakers to keep pumping out desireable high quality low cost items. premium hotwheels are great for this as why buy an inflated mainline when you can get a premium version.
New to collecting.. I bought a few cars on e-bay that I thought I would never find in the stores, but eventually came across them. I didn't realise older stock would show up occasionally. Patience is the key. Also found 5 supers this year (I didn't think I would find any).
I no longer go to stores to hunt, I hunt when I go shopping. What has discouraged me from exclusively hunting is constantly finding stores stocking old cases. I've found a lot of my desirables just by waiting a few months.
It started with Supers and has move on to scalpers breaking sets of boulevards by taking the JDM castings and leaving the rest!!! The scalpers are the main reason I moved on to Kaido house and Mini gt an left SCALPWHEELS BEHIND!!!!!
I was a collector for a long time but I lost my job and had to sale my private collection I'll start up a new collection didn't know how much to sale my collection I lost money but I needed to live and pay rent
Great video bro! Everything you shared in this video is sad, but true. It’s unfortunate that those who engage or participate in this type of activity are hurting the joy of collecting. There is no question that the fear of missing out on highly sought out Hot Wheels and other collectibles with the sole intention of flipping them for profit is what drives so called “collectors” to do whatever it takes to get their hands on said collectibles before anyone else does. As I’ve said time and time again in my videos. Patience is key guys. You can find what you’re looking for if you’re resourceful.
Great info Jason! I've cut down on looking simply because even the regular mainline cars are usually gone, just leaving the fantasy cars. I've given up on ever finding any kind of super or chase. I was very happy to find the two red L case Mustangs and the black T/A! 😂 And as an accountant, I pretty much refuse to pay more than $2-3 for $1 cars!
Very informative, Jason. I believe hotwheels are scalped because they are so profitable. Most businesses used to look to double their money. Today, you need to triple or even quadruple your money to survive. Most products leave very little room for that. But hotwheels are 1.00, well a little more. But if you take a 1.00 hotwheel and sell it for 2, that is a 100% markup, so selling it for 5.00 is a 400% markup. So when you look at guys, even many collectors that we know that believe 25.00 to 50.00 for certain supers are worth it, well when they buy those at that price they are actually helping to promote this market. And now, if you look at the guy that scalps just 5 of them for 1.00 each, then sells them for, let's just say 30.00 each he just made150.00 off of 5.00 worth of cars. That's a 2,900% markup if my math is correct. And many people say, well you can't make money scalping these hotwheels, when in fact, you can, and a lot of it. So this, in my opinion, is why so many do it. Whereas, let's say, with a Kaido House for anywhere from 17.00 to 25.00 there is no way they could even resell one of those for a 100% markup, which would be anywhere from 34.00 to 50.00, now there may be certain ones that they could, but very few and would never fetch a 2 to 300% markup much less a 2,900% one. So when you look at it with a numbers game, people are indeed making bank scalping these hotwheels, especially the 1.00 ones. Which, again, is only possible because people will buy them. Again, excellent video Jason, the best I've seen at describing the situation. 👍👍👍✌️😊
Your math is better than mine for sure lmao but yes I agree with people are making money and paying rent. Which is crazy! But, as you said, since they are $1 ish, that's easy to do. Thanks for watching James 🤙
@MUSTANGHUNTER actually, I was off a point, had to re-adjust. 😂 But yeah, these guys are making bank man, that was just 5 cars. These guys are selling 100s of them. ✌️
That’s a lot of jewing around just to ruin a hobby. It should be illegal to resell without adding value. Go make something then charge more. Stop usurping value. Such parasitic behavior.
The best thing to do is stop buying at the inflated prices. But you got guys that want certain castings and end up paying those inflated prices because of the gotta have it now thought process. I know it's harder in bigger states where you have more collectors going for the same castings. Thanks for putting out great ideas on how to find deals and deal with certain issues that arise.
So true man, that's why trading is the practical way to do it. I'd rather pay shipping cost, fill a box with extras for the other guy and get the car i want in the deal.
Great video Jason. Ton of great info. I am def in the 60%. Part f the fun, is the hunt. But with all the insider stuff going on as well as people just coming in and buying whole cases (presumably for resale) , one can only keep their hopes/passion up for so long. Yes, a lot of those castings can be bought cheap online as they might not be the hot item, but after purchase price and add in $5 to $6 for shipping, just not worth it in most cases for filler cars.
Very true. Even the times I have bought off EBay, as long as the car I'm needing is the cheap part, I kinda assume the shipping. But I have also found cheaper shipping on loose cars, so I only sought after those instead of carded. Plus, ebay was where I looked for vintage Mustangs or cars, and did find many under $5
I've never bought off ebay , but I have on some good auction sites. Always have a budget, don't over spend. Know when I go to shows, I always bring stuff to trade. Last show I traded 10 car's for 13 I brought home. Have a great week ahead Jason
I'm a long time diecast collector and I'm been doing this since I was a young boy. That means that I was 3 years old when I started to know about it and it's been 22 years since I got into the hobby.
@@MUSTANGHUNTER That's exactly what I mean by that one. When I was 3 years old, my cousin Jeff Bocock has got me into the diecast scene and the car scene. He showed me all kinds of diecast vehicles, both real and fantasy.
Very true!! Here in norcal, lots of empty pegs but not surprised.. knew this was coming.. have military brother that hunts which gives me all new models like... now into the 1977-1983ish castings... I really hope that our hobby will be better, it deserves it...
This happens to all collecting hobbies. I have quit a lot of collections, including diecast...twice. It is the only one I keep going back to because of the cost per unit. I don't support the scalpers, I trade with other collectors and my friends. Yeah, sometimes I miss out on stuff, but there is no shortage of diecast to collect. I collect to relax and have fun.
I will never buy anything online !!!! If I can't find it at the store, I don't need it. And I don't buy from stores that buy from scalpers, like Frank n Son's. I've been collecting since 1990 and I have a lot in my collection. Thanks and have a great week. So in this hobby you are either a scalper/ hoarder or a collector. You can usually tell what the channel is by watching.
Great video, scalpers ruin every hobby,be patient you will find it another day, don't buy from the scalpers,I only buy what I need,if I take extras then there for my friends or wheel swaps,Toronto is Hot Wheels Scalper central 😂😂🙃
Very cool information on a serious matter in the diecast community 👍🏻. I might see a Hot wheel I might like here and there if I’m at a market for groceries and if I see a car that I like then cool, I’ll buy it but majority of the time, this is a reason why I don’t go hunting for Hot wheels let alone look for Hot wheels anymore like I use to a long long time ago before smartphones and social media existed. When it comes to the hobby as a diecast collector, scalpers care less about the hobby and care more about making money because it’s the hot item right now in popularity. What made it hard for the regular collector to find what he likes was the social media and websites. Some of these hardcore demon scalpers would find ways when stores will get their shippers and their main goals are the Superchase cars, Super treasure hunts and leave the leftovers for the regular collector that collects for just the hobby with his kids. When it comes to me as a collector, I enjoy my diecast collection when it comes to filming and the imagination for content when it comes to my lifestyle.
Went to Walmart early yesterday morning before work and they had a few new cases on the pegs, but not one Honda Civic from the Boulevard lineup. The other 4 cars were there, but not the Civic, I ended up copping the Plymouth so I was still happy with that one✊🏿
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I figure I'll wait it out. This is the first time I was this almost complete set so maybe tomorrow before work or this weekend they will restock✊🏽
I agree with a lot of what you said. Unfortunately I'm in a fairly large market and there are enough "scalpers" out there that I can't get what I want. I don't even want the high value stuff usually. I collect Corvettes and when one of them once in a while becomes part of the craze like today's Barbie C8 I can kiss any chance of finding that on a peg good bye. Sometimes I come across something of interest to others but usually it's not the one I want. Because if this I had resorted to buying anything that was part of the sough after craze just so I can trade it to acquire the ones I wanted that I was not fortunate enough to find myself. I eventually bought so many I sold a few things instead of trading because I had too much and it wasn't even the Corvettes which I was mainly collecting. Then my "collection" which was really my hoard of trade-bait become so big it outgrew my actual collection. I wound up selling EVERYTHING except the Corvettes in one big sale. Probably made about 75% of what I spent back on that. I thought about keeping the Corvette collection going and not falling into that trap again but it's so disheartening again to not be able to find what I want to collect that I'm thinking of selling off my Corvette collection too. I haven't actively tried to go out and look for cars in a while now. But it's hard to sell a personal collection because you have to find someone willing to buy only Corvettes, or whatever you collect. So that's why my number rule for new people is to collect what you like. Only buy it if you don't mind never getting the value back because it's your collection and not someone else's. Really the best part of collecting was meeting the good people out there. I met some great locals that I still run into at the store occasionally and even traded with people from afar by mailing things, yourself included. It was a lot of fund to talk to others and to find something someone else was looking for and help them out. But I think I'm done. I now think I want to just sell off my 1:64s and maybe get only a few nicer larger models and just enjoy those. All the best to you Mustang Hunter and thanks for being one of the good guys out there. Thank you! -Shawn (The Corvette Collector.... maybe)
These days I’m focusing more on Mini GT, Tarmac, Pop Race, Inno, and other true scale brands, more than Hot Wheels. This way I get to buy the models I want and not worry about scalpers prices.
Diecast is still reasonable. Where are people finding money to buy $50-400 Lego sets? Where do people get $1,000 to rip open TWO (2) Upper Deck hobby boxes chasing Bedard - only to get $50 worth of value. Or other sports cards? Mofo's using scanners to find rare cards and bringing scales to weight boxes. Vintage Star Wars? - Here is $500 for the AT-AT Walker. Pokemon cards? Vintage Toys?....Diecast is the cheapest hobby and you know what you are going to get. I also like to know our diecast has a value to it.
Agreed, HWs is nowhere near other hobbies. But it’s good to get ahead of the game because Diecast is definitely getting more competitive. Knowing values will be important moving forward and like it or not it’s necessary if you want to last in this hobby 🤜🤛
Hot Wheels are for all Generations it's their motto on the back of the blister card top left thanks for warning me I will subscribe❤🎉🎉🎉 it's not about them hogging the cars it's about you do what we do with it👍
Like every other thing effected by greed, it is un repairable. It was just more cost effective to stop the nonsense. Seriously why did I need so many toys anyway. Change to buying 2a items.
Lots of great insight here! Hopefully this helps out so newer people! I know I’ve basically given up on hunting and basically have to rely on eBay to get the cars I really want for my collection… well done video!! 😎🙌🏻
Started collecting hot wheels in 1998. I stopped in 2019. For me the writing was on the wall. The corruption, the greed, the childish behaviors got to be too much. The fun was gone. I was working at the time and was compeiting against guys with out a job,on disability, etc. I could not go to walmart at midnight or Target at 8 am. I had a family to support. I still collect but have moved to higher end stuff like danbury mint corvettes, diecast 1/24 scale funny cars. While there is some compeition in bidding on these items it tends to seperate the collectors from the bottom feeders. I still have some very rare and hard to find hotwheels, including redlines. Im past the emotional attachment and will be selling off all my 1/64 scale cars.
I have been collecting since I was young and still do for the enjoyment of the collection not for the value. If I get a good car great, if not I still buy what I like. I have been patient and it has paid off. I have been going to hobby stores flea markets or antique stores
its a vibrant community in die-cast hobby. those bummed about it is understandable. we know there should be something on the pegs freshly stocked but, not even a regular hunt? well the kids that stock the big box store shelves, before they haul the boat out they will crack every case, nab more than one soop and a few regs. heck for a kid working at target or walmart, this is easy money. turn $1 in $30 on ebay. why not. meanwhile in some out of the way place that sells hot wheels there is a super there for you. but if its soop or nothing its not going to be fun. ;-)
I only collect mainlines and race them on my track. I occasionally buy one or two premiums a year. Now I know why I haven't gotten much of M case for this year.
There’s a reason I’ve more or less stopped collecting hotwheels unless there’s a stray premium I like because otherwise I have way better luck with Johnny Lighting and Greenlight. Auto world also has good models just not always the ones I want. I know Tomica has some of the best as well but none are even sold in my area so it is what it is.
"In the criminal justice system, Hot Wheels based offenses are considered especially heinous" "In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit" "These are their stories"
Easy to say, but there are those of us that have serious mobility and accessibility issues so online is the only way. Although it is true that on site is likely where one will find better deals most of the time.
Yes this really did help me with what a scalper is I mean I knew that they take everything like jdm Nissans extra but idk but thank you so much for the info my boy and have a great rest of your night buddy keep safe your boy Antonio Pender aka Tony thanks again
It's this easy. If you are a collector get your cars off the pegs. If Scalpers are a problem, get to know your store personnel. Sometimes they me in the stores and just let me know new Hot Wheels have arrived. I hunt three to four times a week, because I like about 80% of the cars in each case. As for vintage collecting go hit the swap meets. You find bargain bins all over the place. That's were I get all my pre 2000 cars. If you see a case that has some cars that are gonna be super hard for you to find on the pegs, than just order the case off trusted online sellers. Don't use EBAY. They are the ones who hike up the prices. Later trade off your repeats with your buddies. This is my system and it keeps me happy as F in the hobby,, and I'm never missing any of the cars I want from a case. Of course there is no better feeling than to enter a store right when they have pegged the latest case, and they are all there for you to grab the ones you want for your collection.
I collect. I might buy two from time to time if it is a very special new release and keep one in the card or box. But that is very rare. I open all of my diecast cars and run them. That is why I am attracted to your channel. You race. That is also the most important factor as to whether I will keep or trade/sell a car. If the wheels aren't loose and it isn't fast I have little use for it on the shelf even if it looks good. I have a couple of those. I bought a Johnny Lightning Original Speed Racer Collection - from the cartoon in the 60s which is one of my earliest childhood memories. I had the whole collection. Really beautifully detailed 1:64 scale cars. Every car in the collection had tight tires and was useless for racing. They were essentially statues. That was nearly 15 years ago. Never bought another Johnny Lightning. They are toys. They should be used as intended. As adults it is for a different reason than as a child, of course. I enjoy real racing and the history of each car or the nostalgia, since I collected when I was a child as well, and of course because for an hour or two a couple of days a week one can just get off the screen and away from chores, I am disabled and retired but live on my own, and totally relax. A few days ago, I checked some of my cars purchased between 2007 and 2014 and almost everyone was selling for 500% to 1,000% or more. It's a shame. And as another commentor on this thread pointed out it affects little kids' ability to enjoy the hobby as well.
Hot Wheels is like scalping sand. They are cheap things that occasionally look like cars and aren't remotely limited. I love their Tooned cars though. Once you go over $10 you're in MiniGT territory which look more realistic. Once you get to $30+ resins only an idiot would buy a Hot Wheels. I bet there are 10,000 or more of each STH. Resins are usually under 300 a livery.
Awesome video bro. I agree. I gor tired of having to aggressively hunt (having to constantly go to the store hoping to get the set I been looking for trying to beat the scalpers). It's one of the reasons i fell off the hobby. But im back! New video soon!
@@christopherhamilton1410 yea but I have yet to see a Nissan Skywalk in stores so if you want one there's really only one place to go... The rebel base on Endor
I only collect hot wheels that i like, that i love, and that i enjoy that i can find out there in the wild. I don't buy any hot wheels at all online from anybody and if I find regular treasure hunts or super treasure hunts or chase cars they get added to my hot wheels collection if I don't find them they don't get added to my hot wheels collection just like any other hot wheels castings or sets i don't find they don't get added to my hot wheels collection and now where it is getting a whole lot harder to find new hot wheels at the stores anymore i decided to start collecting duplicates of my favorite hot wheels castings.👍 I love collecting hot wheels and I will be collecting hot wheels and I will be collecting hot wheels for the rest of my life.👍And I'm never ever planning on selling any of them.👍So that means I'm a true hot wheels collector.👍And today i got a whole bunch of new N case basic cars today at Walmart and I got another floor display shipper today at dollar tree to display my carded hot wheels in.👍And when i go to the flea market, yard sales, garage sales, car shows, and toy shows i always make sure that vendors are selling them for reasonable prices before I go buy anything from them.👍
Oh scalpers why must you break the sets up? If you want 6 of the same car buy 6 sets makes in impossible to complete sets well not impossible but $12-200 for a dang car is sad. Good luck trying to get rich that way. I digress good points man great vid
Hot Wheels is Dying because only the premiums are collectable, the Standards are plastic Cr@p, and HW is creating the hoarding issue by the way they are marketing them.
I have a suggestion for the folks out there that are stupid enough to buy scalped model cars..DONT. If you spend 50.00 to 100.00 for a 2.00 hot wheel, collect 1/64 scale cars from Mini GT, Sparky and Tarmac works. Or, better yet, 1/43 from IXO, Spark, TSM and Looksmart (if you want to spend 100.00) These are all licensed brand both domestic and even better race. I have over 300 such models myself. Mustang Hunter would call me a Light Hoarder.
Yea scalpers are killing it for me, they got stores and employees in their pocket, plus the manager of the dollar general told me that 60k units nation wide of hotwheels had been stolen, makes sense, we havent seen dg exclusives in 2 years in my area, and i go to dg everyday, not for just hotwheels, I'm pretty much done with this crap, if i cant find it then im not getting it, and i haven't even been looking cause i know nothing is on the pegs
Its BEEN DEAD since 2019....you guys just turned a blind eye and a deaf ear. I'm 25+ years in. The people who saw it coming, we turned our focus....and started trading and buying through our friends. Thats where its at, and where its going to be. The hobby will continue to die unless people start looking inward, and start giving more than they receive. Read it again....slowly! Give more! Be more inviting! REMEMBER THESE ARE KIDS TOYS!
Lots of great info packed into a relatively short video. Excellent job. I do occasionally buy on whatnot, but not anything from the current year. If it's a car that's currently hitting the pegs, I will either find it or I don't need it. I'm not paying anyone any amount of money if they're going in and clearing out a store. I do like some of the sellers on whatnot that are buying older collections and selling them. It gives somebody like me the opportunity to add a casting variation to my collection from a time period when I wasn't collecting. Several of them aren't new to the hobby and just trying to make a quick buck either.
I've started buying hot wheels & other die-cast over the past year and some change just buying stuff i liked etc but the other day i went through every single die-cast and asked myself if i really liked the car, got rid of duplicates as my rule of thumb was open 1 keep 1 packaged im still looking to get rid of the bulk and have a more "niche collection" an starting to buy more stuff that is personal or just love the casting. Whether or not that falls under the hoarding category or not to most who knows🤦♂ Anything older muscle, RLC, zamac, flying customs, HW cool classics etc
I have seen this same thing happen with comic books a few times in recent years. One, Scooby-doo Team-up #12, the dealer I went to for comics had already sold out (lesson learn, set up pull list) a nearby dealer had it, but marked at $20. I had unkind words for this dealer. This was a series I was buying for my daughter (10 at the time) to read. I did eventually get it at cover price soon after by luck at a Barnes and Noble. For Hot Wheels, not surprising as I am having a hard time finding some of cars I am interested in on the shelf. Good points all the way around. Mostly I am interested in screen and comic book related Hot Wheels as I re-enter the hobby (more accurately, taking it seriously). There are only a few stores that carry them near me, and several more within an hour or so driving time, so I don't have time to go driving all over the place, so if I am going to purchase Hot Wheels aftermarket, I have to keep in mind the value of my time I would spend trying to find it on the shelf, and then, decide my limit for such a purchase. Thanks for sharing, and yeah, you are right, #5 should be #1. :-)
I hate scalping. In my local community I see marketplace ads where a guy has a picture of 30 of the same car where they are charging 25$ each. Those cars were 2$ at the store. The zamac Honda civic
I got back into in since this year and wow its a crazy game nowadays. I look out for good deals or “normal” prices but in my country theres one maaybe 2 online for a model you cant get in stores anymore and the price too damn. Got some good deals elsewhere and often even with shipping its a good deal. But mattel from their own site gor example itll cost me 2.5x more just to get it here and people profit off of it by selling a rlc for 60-70€. Ive learned to look at what a good price is for what i want and gave up on sth and chases because i wont be finding one or paying 100$ plus just because its a porsche or skyline
It's been interesting seeing cars that were scalped immediately return to normal values, like that godzilla R32 or tons of F&F premiums. Hell you can get the new gray godzilla skyline for under $3 plus shipping right now.
I want the boxes to go on the shelves without them being opened before they hit the shelves so maybe I can at least find a second one in my life. The celero GT is an awesome car it just catches my eyes and I want to find it not buy it. I will also add in that I found the 71 El Camino in savemart and the worker kept walking around it so I didn't want to look but my girlfriend urged me to and there it was at the very bottom!
There are some cars that I never seen before after going online . So I believe HW release difference cars for difference parts of the US . I never saw many cars available in my market . I can go to the 5 different stores and only 99% of the same cars . I have 5 to 8 same cars to sell off a few but I hold my cars so I could sell them for fair market price .

I wish people would stop worrying about how much it's worth....if you really need to know how much every car is worth, You should collect money instead
Buy what you like, and what you can afford, is a good motto.

Stores should not be letting collectors open the shipping boxes.
Cry me a river! These scalpers are sucking the life blood out of the hobby.

This is pure gold, J! An absolute must watch for any collector new or old. ❤️💯🔥
Yeah, Mattel is causing all this. If they sold all their products direct on their website, scalping would be over.
Right, blame the company for you not getting your toy cars.
the one thing I also hate is when ppl site there and buy full boxes straight form the store before they even get put on the shelf
Enjoy hotwheels and don't buy from scalper.
Agree 💯👍
The best thing to do is stop buying at the inflated prices. But you got guys that want certain castings and end up paying those inflated prices because of the gotta have it now thought process. I know it's harder in bigger states where you have more collectors going for the same castings. Thanks for putting out great ideas on how to find deals and deal with certain issues that arise.
So true man, that's why trading is the practical way to do it. I'd rather pay shipping cost, fill a box with extras for the other guy and get the car i want in the deal.
Great info and advice man!! Great useful tips!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks brother. I mentioned 2 episodes ago, it was going to be a controversial one lol

Facts! Walter is still at it. But his example is one of many that we are seeing die out
Very informative. Lots of great tips. 👍
Hell yeah, with time it will come or trade for one. Happy hunting!
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I figure I'll wait it out. This is the first time I was this almost complete set so maybe tomorrow before work or this weekend they will restock✊🏽
Great Info. Share and stay kind Guys . we all want a part of the auction.
MiniGT is sweet, but not many new Mustangs from them. M2 is my main squeeze the past few years lol
@@MUSTANGHUNTER Speaking of Mustangs, only a few companies do true-scale 1:64 Mustang S197-IIs. This is my favourite 21st-century Mustang generation.

Agree, I am planning an episode going over valuing our collections. We should all understand what our cars are worth
Agreed, HWs is nowhere near other hobbies. But it’s good to get ahead of the game because Diecast is definitely getting more competitive. Knowing values will be important moving forward and like it or not it’s necessary if you want to last in this hobby 🤜🤛
@DieCashCars most definitely my dude! I think knowing your cars value is important, so you don't get ripped off in any way
Hot Wheels are for all Generations it's their motto on the back of the blister card top left thanks for warning me I will subscribe❤🎉🎉🎉 it's not about them hogging the cars it's about you do what we do with it👍
Like every other thing effected by greed, it is un repairable. It was just more cost effective to stop the nonsense. Seriously why did I need so many toys anyway. Change to buying 2a items.
Good info brother. Hope this helps anyone new to the hobby. 👍✌️🇺🇸

Great video its a shame what a fun hobby has turned into within just a few years
Started collecting hot wheels in 1998.
I used to watch a "''collector"' until he started a Maccari and wanted $3.00 for a TH plus $8.00 shipping. I've slowly stopped because of scalpers.
its a vibrant community in die-cast hobby. those bummed about it is understandable. we know there should be something on the pegs freshly stocked but, not even a regular hunt? well the kids that stock the big box store shelves, before they haul the boat out they will crack every case, nab more than one soop and a few regs. heck for a kid working at target or walmart, this is easy money. turn $1 in $30 on ebay. why not. meanwhile in some out of the way place that sells hot wheels there is a super there for you. but if its soop or nothing its not going to be fun. ;-)
Informative..i buy what I like, let them loose and enjoy🤘
Great video and 💯 on everything you talked about.

Don't buy online. It's out there. He's right. Be patient and keep checking. Good luck 👍
I love hanging my collection on my wall to view. What does that make me? 😂😂😂
Apparently the hobby has been falling apart because of scalpers for years. Yet here we are.
Well said 🙏
On top of that, on the auction sites, they have their buddies drive up the prices.
Love this video Jason!

Great comment!! They definitely aren't limited and are produced in high numbers.
100%...supers aren't limited to 12k anymore. They probably sit at closer to 30k now
You can tell on eBay or toy shows when the seller has 10 or more of the same items. I believe they are the scalpers

True, but some value is expected. But agree with you, that's why I trade away "expensive supers" or have even gifted them.
Just started collecting hot wheels, and tbh, I'm just gonna buy cars that are really exotic or very cool looking
I hate scalpers with a fearsome hatred. Something needs to be done, and at this point doesn't matter how it's done they need to be dealt with.
I'm with team Walter if you don't like it you can get lost
Lots of great info packed into a relatively short video. Excellent job. I do occasionally buy on whatnot, but not anything from the current year. If it's a car that's currently hitting the pegs, I will either find it or I don't need it. I'm not paying anyone any amount of money if they're going in and clearing out a store. I do like some of the sellers on whatnot that are buying older collections and selling them. It gives somebody like me the opportunity to add a casting variation to my collection from a time period when I wasn't collecting. Several of them aren't new to the hobby and just trying to make a quick buck either.
My only problem is I run out of Money 😂
I've started buying hot wheels & other die-cast over the past year and some change just buying stuff i liked etc but the other day i went through every single die-cast and asked myself if i really liked the car, got rid of duplicates as my rule of thumb was open 1 keep 1 packaged im still looking to get rid of the bulk and have a more "niche collection" an starting to buy more stuff that is personal or just love the casting. Whether or not that falls under the hoarding category or not to most who knows🤦♂
Anything older muscle, RLC, zamac, flying customs, HW cool classics etc
I just buy cars I like(especially Muscle cars)I could care less about TH and STH......
It's been interesting seeing cars that were scalped immediately return to normal values, like that godzilla R32 or tons of F&F premiums. Hell you can get the new gray godzilla skyline for under $3 plus shipping right now.
Don't be vackzed & buy expensive toy cars. New toy car companies want $25 bucks for a toy car. Unbelievable.
I hate to admit it... but I'm a hoarder! 🤣
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thank you! 👊🏼😀
I've actually quit buying hot wheels and other 1 64 scale diecast
