I lived in Sichuan for 4 years, & that's when I really started to love spicy food, & now that's all I want to eat. this video brings back memories of everything I ate when I lived there, & I miss it so much !

Chilli oil is so delicious, it adds so much depth of flavor along with heat.
I add it to ANY soup I eat, it makes them SO MUCH tastier- even clam chowder!!

Start with light spices and add on. You'll get used to the hot stuff in no time!

I used to fear hot food until I tried a dish in Chengdu. The Sichuan peppercorn can be disturbing at first cause it numbs your lips and tongue, but the best part is, it disperse within a minute and wouldn't stay in your tongue, then you'll start taking another bite again, and again, and again. By the end of the dish your lips turn into a pair of sausage but it feels so freaking good.

I am a big fan of Sichuan food. I frequent China alot, and Sichuanese cuisine is prevalent in my country as well. BUT, after I went to Chengdu ... I realized, nothing else measures up to their versions.
I would love to do a food tour with this guy.

I love your videos! Honest question: Why not go to Chengdu/Chongqing directly thou? You love Sichuan cuisine so much and I kinda wonder what's stopping you from visiting its real birthplace. Political reasons? (ofgw is supported by FLG isn't it)

Hey Mike, you should go to Shanghai/Beijing to try the water braised fish at Spicy Spirit (麻辣诱惑). The best 水煮鱼 I have ever had. Just don’t forget to order catfish in the dish instead of other types. You’ll be blown away.
