Very good idea to keep it in place as a temporary solution! I've seen some people get a wooden board and nail it to the board but I was too lazy. command strips are much more my thing lol
Hello, really love your video❤ I have 2 little rabbits (their fur is quite thin and not long) and wanna use their fur to make yarn. Is all the process same ss handling Theo's fur? Thanks😊
Great idea with the electric spinner must admit as like how you can change the speed etc. Can you give the link to the model of it or at least the name? Thanks I haven't done any spinning at all with wool must admit but this device is tempting me hehe thanks for sharing 😀❤️
Awesome! Here is the link for the newer model. Much cheaper than the Ashford spinners, especially for entering the spinning game😜www.dreamingrobots.com/product/eew-nano/
I live in Boston metro area. I don't have any pets, but I beg people around to collect their dogs' fur for me. I recently taught myself to spin yarn on a drop spindle, and really enjoy it! My first project was just finished today : a pair of socks for my DIL. It's her birthday, and that's what she wanted. And even they came out a little clumsy, as I didn't cast right, and was afraid to be short on wool, so, made that ankle high, they are still adorable!
I have a question about your first video… my yarn didn’t relax after bathing it in hot water… I tried twice, the second time for 20 minutes and it was still all curled up! 😂! And when I tried to untwist it, as expected, the yarn went loose and broke! Do you have any tips for me? Also my fur doesn’t form a tread like that… I mean the fiber forms a tread after I spin it… before the fur keeps coming out in pieces… 😂😂😂
Hmmm interesting one. I assume you are spinning it enough in the first place as well. How long are the fibre threads? Might be worth mixing the fur with some other roving that you can buy online. Mine will untwist at the ends a bit, but never break from the whole thing.
@@theothesammy thanks for your answer! My fur is from a yellow lab! But I have other dogs that I wanted to try later on… I’ll try the roving you suggested! Thanks again! 🙏🏻❤️
@@carolinatrovatogomez300 That could be it! Try saving those longer and soft sections of fur like the tail floofin, etc and then pair it with the other fibres. Might do the trick! Good luck!
I little late but; if you're having loose yarn problems, I find that using some thin cotton thread as warp string as a base along with the chiengora to be helpful. You just tie the warp it into your spinner then continue on as you regularly would
@@andy6477733157 not late at all! You mean to spin the fur around the cotton tread? Or to begin my yarn with the cotton and then continue just with the fur? (Don’t know if my question was clear enough… lol)
They are sold out on the Nano spinner. I got an ashford traditional, but it seems too fast for me. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I might need more dog hair!! 😂
Love it! But don't love that it's sold out! Too many people catching on to spinning their own yarn. Time to get another dog! I'm thinking the same thing over here.
Wow! That has got to be the most inventive spinner I've ever heard of. When I first tested the fur out to spin it, I used the clip part of a heavy pen to latch onto the fur and then spun the pen. That doesn't seem even close to your fidget spinner idea!
@@theothesammy did some looking around and i found a guy that does the same thing as me! ua-cam.com/video/SYVu7NkC7v4/v-deo.html It can be spun in three different ways. Maybe try it out sometime?
If it's long enough, yes! Try twisting some of the fur in your fingers and see if it can make a string that doesn't break. If it doesn't, then you're in business!
No, this is MUCH faster and more consistent in my experience. The wooden hand spinner was just cheaper and a better way into the process for me until I invested a bit more.
I’m excited to try this. Thanks!!!
Have fun!
❤ maybe you can put commando strips to hold the spinner in place. Love what you're doing 😊

Best comment ever! So glad you're here

Thank you so much! Your tutorials are the most helpful ones! Which part of the country do you live in if I may ask?
Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm in Ontario. What about you??

How about using a fidget spinner to make yarn? I used an old one with a missing center piece and a chopstick

@@andy6477733157 wow! That's incredible how well it works! His face when spinning it. So easy!
do you need to do the step with the knitty knotty if you use this instead of the wood tool ?
Yup! It's still a great way to "set the spin" which is submerging it in the warm water. Otherwise, when you unravel it, the twist will come out.
Hi any idea if this spindle is still on the market?
I think so! I also have a video on the electric spinner if you'd like to spend a little more now and save yourself the effort by it being electric ;)
Could I use it a pug dog’s hair

Is the top whorl wood is better than this?
